Quest Intro
Quest Difficulty: Easy!
Quest Duration: Short.
Quest Location: Wizard tower, south of Draynor. Talk to Ariane.
Quest Type: Free Quest!
*This Quest is needed for: Priest in Peril
*This is optional but this may be required for ironman players as they need Rune Essences.

Quest Guide
Talk to Ariane at the Wizard tower at the front door. Choose the option “What’s happening here?” and then “What can i do to help?” to start your quest.
Before she is able to explain to you what is going on, a cutscene will be played and one of the wizard will be under attack by a vortex. He will drop his air staff (Tower Mindspike (Air)) at the beam and you will need to pick this up and hold this with you until you have completed your quest.
Stand behind the beam and start casting air strikes towards the Vortex to attract it to you. You will need to place the vortex in the beam to make it disappear.
Extra note: You may need to remove melee / ranged armor to improve your casting success.
Once the vortex has been pulled into the beam Ariane will ask you to speak with her outside of the Wizard tower at the bridge.
She will tell you that you need to speak with Archmage Sedridor, Wizard Traiborn and Wizard Ellaron. They can be found at the second floor of the wizard tower and you will need to use the beam to go higher or lower in the tower.
Archmage Sedridor: Speak with him and choose the option “Ariane says the tower is in danger”. Then choose the 3x options “Don’t you believe her?”, “Why won’t you let Ariane into the tower?” and “What are you going to do?”.
Wizard Traiborn: On the same floor as Archmage Sedridor and can be found in the West room. Speak with him and choose the option “Have you seen anything unusual lately?”
Choose the option about the “Power Beam”.
Wizard Ellaron: On the same floor as Archmage Sedridor and can be found in the East room. Speak with him and choose the option “Ariane says the tower is in danger”. He will tell you that he is still on Ariane’s Side.
After you have spoken with the 3 wizards, go back to Ariane at the bridge and choose all of the options and share with her the 4x information (2x Archmage Sedridor, 1x Wizard Ellaron, 1x Wizard Traiborn). She will tell you that you need to speak with Wizard Ellaron to know about the key to enter the ruins of the old tower.
Speak with Wizard Ellaron and choose the following options.
- How can i get into the old tower?
- You do know, though?
- You mean the rumour about Water Surge?
- What do you mean, the key lies in understanding Water Surge?
- So you are saying there’s a clue in Archmage Perien’s book?
Go to the bottom floor of the Wizard tower and check the most West bookcase to find 2 books.
Read both of the books to unlock the “View Diagram” on both of the books.
View both of the Diagrams on each book and then play on the Organ on the bottom floor south.
Each note needs to be played in the same exact order as shown on your diagram.
Play the B note 10x. (water rune)
Play the A# note 7x. (Air rune)
Play the G# note once. (Blood rune)
Play the G note once. (Death rune)
You will unlock the key and go back to Ariane. Tell her that you have the key and she will say to meet up with her ruins east of the Wizard tower. Open the door below her and go inside.
Talk to the Rune guardian and be ready to be tested. (This will not have any impact on the Rune Mysteries quest even if you completely randomize the options. You will only get one of the four titles).
After the test and you have earned a title go through the door and climb behind the statue to lower a path. Cross over the statue down and then climb down the staircase.
You will see multiple vortexes around the beam in this room. Speak with Ariane and she will ask you to attract a vortex in her circle so she can do a research on the vortex.
After the research she will tell you that these are not ghosts but soul fragments. She will also ask you to delay and distract Archmage Sedridor as he is preparing the Water Surge.
Go back to the Wizard tower and play some random notes on the organ. You will need to distract him 3x and you will get 2x cutscenes. After the second cutscene go outside of the wizard tower and speak with Ariane at the Ruins to complete your quest.
Quest Reward
1 Quest Point.
250 Magic experience lamp.
250 Runecrafting experience.
Wizard tower mind spike and first tower hat.
1x Air Talisman.
70x Mind runes.
4 wizard titles (You can change your title at the rune guardian below at any given time, to Green, Red, Blue or Grey).
(Please keep in mind that you may receive treasure keys upon quest completion but may not be shown in the video or on the steam guide since i am playing on Ironman Mode).
