Secret Neighbor: Hello Neighbor Multiplayer Guide

Secret Neighbor for New Players for Secret Neighbor

Secret Neighbor for New Players

Overview

This is a guide for new players to Secret Neighbor. I hope this helps 😀

The Basics of Secret Neighbor

When you first load up Secret Neighbor, you will see a screen like this,

Learning the Maps (Starting as a Kid)

As you start to play quick games, you will find that there are currently three different maps in Secret Neighbor. These are the maps created by the developers and each have their own unique layout.
There are also player created maps, which can be played via custom games (check section one for more information)

The three official maps are called The Neighbor Case, (Map 1) Return of the Guest, (Map 2) and The Storm Is Coming. (Map 3).

After playing the maps lots, you will soon learn that some drawers and cabinets have keycards in them most games in the same spots. You should try to learn these spots as they will make the game a lot easier (especially in map 3 where level 1 keycards are harder to find).
You can also find shortcuts in the maps, which let you get to other areas by the likes of chairs and things like that. These can be difficult to find, and if you ever need any help finding these shortcuts, be sure to join the Discord server at the end of the guide and I will be happy to help.

Very Useful Tips (old players might not know these but if they don’t i don’t know why.)

You can left click and put a pot that looks like this on your head:
It will protect you from one hit of damage.

If you are the neighbor and you see a red clock like this:

You can hit E to activate a secret gate. Make sure no other kids are around when you do this though otherwise they will know that you’re the neighbor.

Scout nuts can fire through the neighbor’s gates.
You can also block doors with chairs

Finding Those Keys (basic kids)

Once you open your first key card door the first thing you’ll want to do is find keys. Here

Kid Classes

So far, in secret neighbor there are 6 classes. There will probably be more added in which I will update this.
I will explain which classes are best to play as and why, and what each class’s abilities are.

Bagger

The first and probably best class to play as when you’re starting out is the bagger, who has an extra inventory slot so he can carry 3 items instead of 2.
His passive ability is heavy bones, which means that if he is caught by the neighbor, his movement slows down. (By a LOT).
His main ability is strong knees, which reduces fall damage.
Finally if you keep your inventory full for 4 minutes you will get an extra inventory slot.
(I know a lot of stuff)
The bagger looks like this:

Brave

The brave is the next class, but if you’re starting out, I wouldn’t recommend her. This is because to get her main ability, you have to hit the neighbor in neighbor form 3 times.
Her second ability baseball, which lets you fend off flying objects with a bat if you time it right.
The brave looks like this:

Detective

If you’re starting starting out, this class is a HUGE no no.
The detective’s ability is field intel, which shows you a picture of a key/ key card. (Note others can’t see this photo).
His second ability is intuition, which highlights a key in the house, but to activate this you need to find 4 keys/key cards in the house.
So this class is a bad class for starting out because you probably won’t know what many locations in the house look like.
The detective looks like this:

Inventor

The inventor isn’t too bad if you’re starting out, but finding the cogs to activate his ability can be a pain.
The inventor’s ability tinker allows you to craft a hammer with 1 gear, a saucepan with flashlight that you can wear on your head for 2, and best of all the rifle for 5. If you hit someone with the rifle (especially the neighbor) they will die or get knocked out instantly. So it’s good.
His other ability is reverse engineering, which allows you to use the clocks to activate the neighbor’s secret gates. Just be careful who sees this.
The inventor looks like this:

Leader

The leader is a good class to play as at the start because her best ability is inspiration, which speeds up all the kids nearby.
Her other ability, team work, blinds the neighbor when you use inspiration.
The leader looks like this:

Scout

The scout is another good class to play as is the scout who has a slingshot which fires out nuts. These nuts can be refilled, which is something not many people know about. You got to a bag that looks like this:

The scout’s other ability is one that gives her a speed boost. This can be done by hitting the neighbor (in neighbor form) 3 times.
The scout looks like this:

Neighbor Classes

Neighbor

The normal neighbor isn’t the neighbor to be if you’re a neighbor. This is because his abilities are harder to use.
Mask gives him the power to transform into other kids. (HANDY TIP: be careful of this)
Rage makes him invincible for a couple of seconds
Bear traps can be placed to stop kids for a while.

He looks like this:

Clown

The clown neighbor is the best to be, as his abilities are simpler than the normal neighbor’s.
His first, camouflage, lets him transform into some objects. You jump higher while in this form (Be aware that you have a moustache on the front and will transform back to neighbor form if hit)
His passive ability will be activated with camouflage, and it is called confusion. It dazzles a child that escapes from the neighbor’s grip.
His final ability is his best and is a smoke bomb.
Any kids that walk in the smoke bomb continually lose health so it’s a good way to split up groups.
He looks like this:

Customising Your Character

There is a shop beside the quick game and custom game tabs, and if you click on it you will see lots of different items that you can buy to personalise your character. You can pay with money from your steam wallet to buy special costumes for a certain class, and you can only get neighbor outfits by paying.

Ending Note

Well, this is the end of my guide. I hope you learnt something from it. So go get playing some Secret Neighbor and don’t forget, practise makes perfect. I have been playing this game since the beta, and i consider myself a pro at it.
Once you master the stuff in this guide, you can move on to my next guide, Secret Neighbor for the Advanced, which will be published soon.
