Setup deadzones for xbox 360 Controller

Overview

How to setup dead zones to allow better controller mapping for Drift Tuner 2019 and other games.

Introduction to Guide

Just another random player contributing a guide 🙂

I noticed a few people were having trouble mapping controls to triggers. I had a look into this issue and noticed my thumbsticks were giving a lot of constant input due to wear and tear and not allowing me to map triggers because of that.

As a quick fix solution to my problem I setup some dead zones within steam for my xbox 360 controller and though this guide might help 1 or 2 people in future.

The purpose of this guide is to stop random input from the thumbstick axis and allow triggers to be mapped instead of thumbsticks that are providing constant input when they are not in use.

Actual Guide / Instructions

It is pretty straight forward to follow the above guide.

Here are some text instructions:
1. Open steam
2. At the top left of the screen click Steam > Settings
3. In the Settings window, select Controller and click General Controller Settings
4. Turn on Xbox Configuration Support and make sure your controller is connected
5. Click your controller listed under Detected Controllers and Register it
6. Click Calibrate
7. Setup Left Stick Deadzone & Right Stick Deadzone and click OK
8. Start Game
9. Enter Single Player, play with thumbsticks and see if it still providing input at top right under fps counter after you stop moving it.
9a. If it still detects input on the axis relating to the thumbsticks, increase deadzones. (Rinse, repeat until its good.)
10. Hit esc, try configuring controllers. You should be able to map gas to trigger without other axis interfering.
