Shadow Man Secrets Guide {NEED INFO}

Overview

Where to find all 18 secrets in Shadow Man Remastered.

Intro

This guide will try to walk you through how to reach every secret in this game as well as detail what they each do. As of this writing, there are currently 18 secrets and discovering all of them will unlock the “Seer of all things” achievement. Secrets will be listed in the order you would most likely find them in. Potential spoiler warning for any mention of story related content that may be required to detail where each secret is.

Note that the requirements listed are solely to obtain that specific secret. This does not take into account any abilities or items you may need to reach the level where that secret is located as you should have those already by the time you reach its location.

Secret 1 – Play As Duppie

Location: Temple of Life

Requirements: None

What It Does: Reskins Shadow Man as a Duppie, the zombie-like Deadside enemies that claw at you and spit goop.

Found By: ZaMothman

After progressing through the Temple of Life and defeating Yort (the large, room filling boss), you will enter the Life Altar Chamber where you acquire the Baton and can present Cadeaux to expand your life meter.

All you have to do is enter the second chamber from the right.

And you should unlock your first secret.

Do note, you are not required to present any Cadeaux to unlock the secret, you just need to walk up to the altar.

Secret 2 – FPS Mode

Location: Asylum: Experimentation Rooms

Requirements: None

What It Does: Exactly what it says on the tin: allows you to play through the entire game through a first person camera.

Found By: G0ldn

Once you’ve made your way through the Experimentation Rooms, you’ll come across a large fan that sucks you towards it.

You need to progress through the level further until you reach a point where you are on the other side of the fan.

Once you’re there, you need to walk towards it, pushing against the fan’s air resistance until you’re right up against it, where you’ll unlock your next secret.

Secret 3 – Flame Grilled

Location: Temple of Fire

Requirements: None. Alternate strategy requires Flambeau.

What It Does: Sets Shadow Man on fire. This does no damage, it’s merely a cosmetic effect.

Found By: Neo_Conker

There are two ways to get this secret. The method I’ll outline here is the “hard” way to get it, but it’ll allow you to get it a little earlier if you’re persistent and good at platforming. The “easy” way will be outlined below.

Within the Temple of Fire, one of the test chambers will require you to climb up one side of the room and make your way around and across a central bridge to push a button.

At one end of this bridge, you will see an opening up against a wall.

If you position yourself on the bridge’s railings and aim just right, you can make the jump to said opening where Mike will grab onto the ledge. You may not need to actually make it to the opening, but getting close enough will unlock the secret for you.

For the easy method, all you need to do is enter one of the smaller doorways at the top of the main entry chamber of the temple where the two blood falls are located. At the end of it is a screen you can burn down using the Flambeau once you find it.

Secret 4 – Invisible Man

Location: Asylum: Playrooms

Requirements: None

What It Does: Turns Shadow Man invisible where only his eyes, mask, and guns can be seen. Again, this is purely cosmetic.

Found By: Kamizzzu

Making your way through the Playrooms, you’ll eventually reach a corridor with a series of cells.

You need to enter the third cell from the end of the corridor where the exit door is. You’ll know it’s the right one when you see the walls, ceiling, and floor lined with money bills and what appears to be a cash register at the end of it.

Just approach said cash register and you’ll unlock the secret.

Secret 5 – Play As Nettie

Location: Temple of Prophecy

Requirements: None

What It Does: Reskins Shadow Man as Nettie, the voodoo witch and his lover.

Found By: Kamizzzu

One of the test chambers in the Temple of Prophecy is a small maze. It’s not overly complicated and you could probably find your way through it quite easily.

If you proceed in a straight line from the point of entry, you will hit a wall and turn to your right to find a path that moves ahead and around the right corner (which leads back to the entrance) and an opening on your left hand side.

Just walk towards the end of this path and you should unlock the secret when you reach the corner.

Secret 6 – Trippy Mode

Location: Asylum: Gateway

Requirements: Toucher Gad

What It Does: Throws up a psychedelic filter that sets the environment alight in a various colours that shift like a mood ring.

Found By: triple d

When facing the main entrance to the Asylum drop down to the left side of the bridge and continue following the path there.

Continue along until you reach a storage room lined with various boxes.

You will need to make your way up these boxes and turn to face the entrance you came in from. Make a few calculated jumps along the rafters until you reach the furthest one. This should unlock the secret.

Secret 7 – Big Head Mode

Location: Asylum: Cathedral of Pain

Requirements: Marcher Gad

What It Does: This classic cheat was pretty common in a lot of 3D games from the era. It basically makes Shadow Man’s head bigger.

Found By: Co0kie667

When you reach the Cathedral of Pain, hop off the edge and start making your way through the bottom level, crossing the hot coals until you’re past the areas beneath the four side Schism Chambers and come across a path that leads to this rotating spiked platform.

Make your way through this area to the top of it where you’ll come across a spiked pillar that runs down a large shaft.

Jump down the shaft, being careful to avoid the spinning blades, and you’ll get your secret.

Secret 8 – Beta Shadow Man

Location: Asylum: Cageways

Requirements: Marcher Gad

What It Does: Reskins Shadow Man to his appearance from the game’s beta.

Found By: ZaMothman

Once you’ve taken the train to the main entrance to the Cageways or just warped there using Luke’s Teddy Bear, you’ll notice a series of ventilation tubes running through the area above the coal pit below.

Make your way to the vent to the far right, just in front of the cable car and face the open tunnel ahead.

You need to jump forward towards this tunnel and hitting it as close as you can. You won’t be able to make it in, but you’ll unlock the secret nevertheless.

While you’re free to attempt this without acquiring Marcher, you will die when you hit the coals at the bottom. It’s recommended to have Marcher, especially if you’re going for a no death run.

Secret 9 – Play As Deadwing

Location: Temple of Blood

Requirements: None

What It Does: Reskins Shadow Man as a Deadwing, the flying zombie-like Deadside creatures that spit goop at you.

Found By: Neo_Conker

When entering the Temple of Blood, pick the right hand path where the subsequent test chamber will open up a path leading back around to a room with a giant hammer in the ceiling that you can activate to knock down a pillar and form a bridge across a gap.

When crossing the new bridge, you’ll note a small entryway to your right.

You will need to carefully jump into this small room, which is a lot more challenging than it sounds. You may need to line yourself up at an angle so that you don’t hit your head against the top of the entrance and still be able to reach the ledge to grab onto. Once you’re in, you’ll unlock the secret.

Secret 10 – Pea Soup

Location: Down Street Station, London

Requirements: None

What It Does: “Pea Soup” is an old English bit of slang to describe a thick fog, and that’s exactly what this cheat does. It throws up a fog filter that creates a haze throughout the environment.

Found By: ZaMothman

Once you’ve made your way out of the sewers and into the tube station, you’ll be faced with an entrance to the public toilets.

Once you’re in, make your way to the stalls on the left hand side.

Entering the lavatories should unlock the secret.

Secret 11 – Play As A Dog

Location: Bayou Paradis, Louisiana

Requirements: Calabash

What It Does: Reskins Shadow Man as a dog that stands up on two legs and uses guns.

Found By: g0ldn

Make your way back to the church in the bayou.

There should be a Vévé located amidst the tombstones that you can use your Calabash to destroy.

Just hop on in after you’ve blown it up to unlock your secret.

Secret 12 – Giant Stetson

Location: Asylum: Fogometers

Requirements: None

What It Does: Decks Shadow Man in a MASSIVE cowboy hat.

Found By: Co0kie667

At the Fogometers, you’ll make your way through to the second open area after the main entryway where you’ll find a door you can climb up to.

Make your way up and keep going up the hill to the right hand side and turn around to face a large, U-shaped pipe right in front of you.

Carefully jump towards it so that you land on it and you should unlock the secret.

Secret 13 – Comedy Shoes

Location: Mordant Street, Queens, NY

Requirements: None

What It Does: Turns Shadow Man’s feet into big ol’ clown shoes.

Found By: Nathan

After restoring power back to the building, return to the elevator in the main foyer.

Take it up to the top and follow the balcony into the next area. Avery Marx should pop up on your left to take a few shots at you but once you’ve gotten rid of him, head over to your right instead where you’ll come to a corridor with clearly visible breakable flooring.

You’re going to want to hop across these platforms before they fall and make it to the other side of the corridor. Keep going and you should get your secret at the end of it.

Secret 14 – I Like Dead Side Guns

Location: Summer Camp, Florida

Requirements: L’Eclipser

What It Does: Allows you to use Liveside weapons in Deadside. The only downside to this is that there’s no way to replenish your ammo in Deadside.

Found By: g0ldn

L’Eclisper is required to be able to get through the deep swimming areas as Mikey can’t hold his breath long enough to survive. Once you’ve made your way through the camp and entered the underground mines, you’ll come across an elevator shaft that leads all the way down to the bottom.

You’ll want to jump across to the small opening ahead then turn around and jump to the area just below the top where you came from, being careful not to fall down to the bottom (you could always try to find you way back up). Once there, you’ll enter a cave network where the path intersects to ahead of you and to the right, with a small gap between them. You’ll want to hop over that gap and continue moving straight ahead and around the corner.

There you’ll be at another intersection. Take the first path to your right and you should get the secret a little further in.

If this is still confusing, here is a video that details the entire level. You’ll want to start watching at 34:50 to find the secret.

Secret 15 – Area-51

Location: Salvage Yard, Mojave Desert

Requirements: None

What It Does: Switches up the music to the stereotypical type associated with aliens from older films.

Found By: F0x

After making your way through the salvage yard, you’ll come across an entryway into an underground area.

Once inside, you’ll notice a plaque behind the central pillar with the words “They are watching us” scrawled on it.

Shoot at the plaque to open up a path into a hidden area with a mysterious light at the end of it. Step into it to find…

OH NO!

Secret 16 – Disco

Location: Salvage Yard, Mojave Desert

Requirements: None

What It Does: Hands down the best cheat in the game. Switches up the music to a funky disco beat, throws up a light filter to simulate being in a disco, and decks out Mikey in a stylish shirt and shades to match.

Found By: F0x

At the end of the level, you’ll come to Marco Cruz’s disco sanctuary.

Once you’ve taken him out, you’ll notice his DJ board on the stage.

Head on over to it and use it to unlock that funky fresh beat!

Secret 17 – Shotgun Heads

Location: Gardelle County Jail, Texas

Requirements: None

What It Does: Allows you to unload heads from your shotguns instead of shells. Discarded shell casings will be replaced by severed heads.

Found By: Co0kie667

Make your way to the end of the level where you’ll come across this cell block just before your encounter with Victor Batrachian.

Make your way to the cell in the far left corner.

Once inside, you should unlock the cheat.

Secret 18 – Wireframe

Location: Marrow Gates

Requirements: Shadow Level 10

What It Does: Displays the game purely in wireframe mode.

Found By: g0ldn

Warp to the Marrow Gates using Luke’s Teddy bear and make your way back to the starting area with the blood falls.

When facing away from the path you came from, climb the right blood fall with the Level 10 Shadow Gate.

Crack that bad boy open to earn your final secret!

Secret 19 – (Need Info)

A recent shadow man update has brought a new secret. Please contact the guide makers if you have info.

Notes

Thank you legends for reading my first guide and thanks to all who commented and helped find the secrets. But I do wonder if there are more.

The store page mentioned “All the secrets from the N64/Dreamcast/PC included in this remaster” and “Plus many more to be discovered!”

It should be noted that Shadowman is a part of the Valiant Universe (Comics with superheroes) and in the 64 version had Bloodshot. Maybe their were right issues?

Have fun!

Psycho Werekitsune: A big thank you to the community for providing us with all the necessary info to track these down. Extra thanks to ZaMothman for letting me edit his guide and clean it up; it being a bit disorganised and hard to follow drove me to go out of my way to better document the location of the secrets, making this my first guide as well. Should you have any questions, comments, or corrections, feel free to direct them my way and I’ll do my best to help.

With regards the lack of Bloodshot, it may or may not have something to do with the recent film that came out, but it’s most certainly a rights issue. What I’m wondering is why the “Twig Boy” or “Stick Boy” cheat was removed which made Shadow Man extra skinny. I believe the code for both of these is still found in the game, if I’m not mistaken, which would’ve put the secrets at an even 20. Shame they didn’t go through with it.
