Blacksmith’s:
Andre – Found in the tower in Undead Parish.
Rickert – Found in New Londo in a cell near the entrance.
Giant – Found in Anor Londo, left section of the main castle.
Vamos – Found in the Catacombs, you’ll find a circular winding downward staircase that leads to two drops; Vamos is at the bottom.
Embers Found in Order (and What They Do):
Large Ember: +5 Normal to +10 Normal (ANDRE) +5 Normal to +5 Raw (ANDRE)
Found in the Depths in a chest behind the first Butcher.
Divine Ember: +5 Normal to +5 Divine (ANDRE)
Found in Darkroot Garden just beyond the Moonlight Butterfly at the top of the tower.
Enchanted Ember: +5 Magic to +5 Enchanted (RICKERT)
Found in Darkroot Garden, just beyond Alvinas’ tower, inside a chest guarded by big mushrooms.
Dark Ember: +5 Divine to +Occult (ANDRE)
Found in the Painted World of Ariamis within Anor Londo, held by a petrified Blacksmith.
After Acquiring the Lordvessel:
Large Divine Ember: +5 Divine to +10 Divine (ANDRE)
Found in Tomb of Giants, above the first bonfire in a room with several large skeletons, held by a petrified blacksmith.
Large Flame Ember: +5 Fire into +10 Fire (VAMOS)
In the Demon Ruins, after descending the great stairs, take the left path before walking up to the fog-gate.
Chaos Flame Ember: +5 Fire into +5 Chaos (VAMOS)
In the Demon Ruins, after defeating Ceaseless Discharge it’ll be found in the lava among the Taurus Demon hoard.
Very Large Ember: +10 Normal into +15 Normal (ANDRE)
In New Londo Ruins, after the water is drained.
Crystal Ember: +10 Normal to +5 Crystal (GIANT BLACKSMITH)
The Duke’s Archives. Behind some bookshelves in the room just prior to the Crystal Golum garden.
Large Magic Ember: +5 Magic to +10 Magic (RICKERT)
Found in The Duke’s Archives, after encountering Seath the Scaleless in the Crystal Cave. Found in the center of the room where the player first encounters Seath, in a chest.
This is the order in which they are found as you progress in the game, however, some players may access other areas before other areas. Some players may seek Duke’s Archives immediately after acquiring the Lordvessel, and some may fight Four King’s. So it’s impossible to appeal to everyone; this is just a rough outlining to a path one might take.

Here’s a lucrative chart/roadmap of crafting progression in Dark Souls (1):
Note: I did not create the image above, I believe it originated from a Wiki user though I’m not sure. It’s been reposted online so many times that it’s almost impossible for me to determine the source. All rights and respect go to whomever designed such a great and easy to understand guide.
Acquiring the Stones
“Where is the best place to purchase — or farm Titanite for my upgrades!? I really need it.”
Well, slow down there Timmy let’s answer all those questions.
First of all, if you’re farming anything in Dark Souls you need to make sure your discovery is high. You can ensure that by equipping these items:
Covetous Gold Serpent Ring or Symbol of Avarice. One of these will raise item discovery by 200, but they will not stack.
Make sure you have 10+ Humanity equipped at all times. This will increase the chance of being invaded by Darkwraith players (a covenant based around stealing humanity). But it also raises discovery by an additional 210.
You can find the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring in Sen’s Fortress, once you’re inside after the boulder-dodge ramp, run down the first ramp all the way to the bottom. The boulders will fill up the catch-mechanism and then smash a hole in the wall. It’s inside that room.
The Symbol of Avarice can only be found on the last mimic in the game; there are four: Sen’s Fortress, Anor Londo, Oolacile Township, and Duke’s Archives. There is a chance that a Mimic may drop one, but there’s only four in the game, they don’t respawn, and it has a 0.01% drop chance. If you’ve killed the other three already then it’s waiting for you in Duke’s Archives.
Now, finally, the good stuff:
Twinkling Titanite:
Reinforces unique weapons to +5.
3 on the Clams in Ash Lake, 6 on the Clams in Crystal Caves just before the fog wall to Seathe the Scaless, various Crystal Lizards, and Giant Blacksmith sells them for 8,000 souls each.
______
Dragon Scale(s):
Reinforces dragon weapons. (Bone Fist, Dragon Greatsword, King Greataxe, Tooth, Drake Sword, Moonlight Greatsword, Obsidian Greatsword, and Priscilla’s Dagger.)
Drakes in the Valley of Drakes (5% chance), 3 (in total) from the two Hydras (Darkroot Basin, Ashen Lake), 3 in Ash Lake, and 2 from the Undead Dragons (Valley of Drakes, Painted World).
______
Titanite Shards:
Upgrades weapons from 0 to +5.
Baldur Knights in Sen’s Fortress have a 21.82% chance to drop them, while the Baldur Knights in Undead Parish have a 8% chance.
Blacksmith Andre, Blacksmith Vamos, and Giant Blacksmith sell Shards for 800 souls each.
You can also give Frampt a green titanite shard and he’ll give you five titanite shards.
______
Large Titanite Shards:
Upgrades standard weapons from +5 to +10, and Raw weapons to +5.
The Berenike Knight at the top of Sen’s Fortress has an extremely high change to drop 1 per death.
The Slimes in the Depths have a 2% chance, and there’s a lot of them to farm in a single hallway.
The Giant Leeches in lower Blighttown have a 5% chance to drop large titanite.
Giant Blacksmith sells an infinite supply for 3,800 souls each.
Three-Platinum Advice from the Author: “I’d just buy them honestly, they’re cheap. Or I’d farm them while farming green titanite shards in Blighttown.”
______
Green Titanite Shards:
Reinforces magic, divine, and fire weapons to +5.
The Slimes in the Depths. (2% chance)
The Giant Leeches in lower Blighttown. (5% chance)

Darkwraiths in New Londo Ruins, after draining the water. Common drop rate.
The Black Knights in Undead Burg, Undead Parish, Darkroot Basin, Catacombs, Undead Asylum, Tomb of Giants, and Kiln are also a common drop. Though only those at Kiln respawn regularly.
Three-Platinum Advice from the Author: “I’d just wait until you get to the end of the game to farm Chunks, the Black Knights in the Kiln are plentiful and respawn regularly. Within an hour of farming you’ll have a ton of chunks in various colors.”

Defeat Stray Demon in Undead Asylum.

DLC: In a chest behind the waterfall in Kalameet’s area within Royal Woods.
______
Red Titanite Slab(s):
There’s one in the Chaos Eaters pit in Lost Izalith, found within a chest.
You can also acquire another by trading an ascended +0 Pyromancy Flame to Snuggly the Crow.
______
Blue Titanite Slab(s):

Conclusion
I hope this aided you in your pilgrimage, chosen undead!
I’ve written multiple un-posted guides on my tenure of obtaining 12 FromSoft 100% completions thus far, 6 of which are Dark Souls platinum trophies on PS3/PS4. After much consideration I’ve begun compiling my knowledge into a series of Dark Souls guides.
It’s somewhat tasking attempting to accumulate this information into an simplistic, easy-to-understand guide — but I try. 😉
