Basic Skills (CRAFTING) progression for party
Thumbs up if found informative, Thanks.
note:Warriors and Mages get a +1 skill point every three level ups. Rogues get +1 skill point every two level ups.
BASIC SKILLS GUIDE per Party member
Gray Warden: Coercion (player exclusive skill)LvL 1,2,3,4 Allows player to unlock story changing options during dialog. Great choice for role players or big fan of Dragon Age Origin’s super rich character development storyline.
Morrigan: Herbalism LvL 3,4 then Combat Tactics 1,2 etc. Morrigan is your potion maker for the party and she starts with Herb level 2 right away. Player must buy recipes and missing ingredients from Merchants. To craft heal/mana/buff potions, players must drag the Herb icon from SKILLS window to Morrigan’s skill bar and activate bringing out crafting window.
Zevran: Poison & Bombs LvL 4 then Combat Tactics 1,2 etc. Zevran already has Max poison making. Player buys poison/bomb making plans and materials from Merchants. To craft poisons/bombs, players must drag the Poison icon from SKILLS window to Zevran’s skill bar and activate bringing out crafting window. (anyone in party with at least Poison lvl 1 can use bombs and poisons from skill bar similar to healing/mana potions during battle*) Poison is an excellent buff for melee party members. Bombs especially great for Lelinna to increase her dps early on. Again Zevran will make all advance/powerful bombs and poisions for the party while anyone in party with level 1 posion can use them.
Allister: Combat Tactics LvL 1,2,3,4 Then lastly Master Combat Training LvL 4 (get it afer getting at least +2 levels of Combat Tactics) The trick is to have Allister attack intelligently using at least 3 activated talents and 3 sustainable talents.
(BONUS) Allister’s tactics perhaps would look like this during first quarter of the game.
Self: Any – Shield Cover* or Shield Defense (sustained talent)
Self: Any – Threaten (sustained talent)
Self: Any – Precise Striking (sustained talent)
Enemy at Short Range – Shield Pummel (activated talent)
Enemy at Short Range – Shield Bash (activated talent)
____________ higher level & beyond ____________
Self surrounded by at least 4 Enemies – War Cry (activated talent)
Enemy over 90% Health – Assault (activated talent)
Enemy over 50% Health – Overpower ETC. (activated talent)
Leliana: Trap Making LvL 1,2,3,4 (anyone in party can set traps but only Rogues can disarm) Player needs to purchase Trap Plans and other missing components not found in game world from merchants. Not all merchants carry the same quality stock, therefore always visit local merchant in your area. Disarming traps is good way to earn free EXP. Leliana will make all advance/powerful traps for the party while anyone in party with level 1 Trap Making can use them prior to battle. Traps along with poision and bombs is a nice bonus to damage output.
WARRIORS: Combat Training. Mages benefits very little aftar combat training level 1 but then again Wynne should max to Combat Training LvL 4 because she already starts with LvL 4 Combat tactics. For warrior its no longer option but actully crucuial to Maxing Combat Training to LvL 3 &4 as it’s a pre-requisite to tier 3 & 4 talent upgrades respectably.
COMBAT TACTICS : Once priorities detailed above a have been meet, your remaining free SKILLS points should always add to Combat Tactics. I cant stress this enough. You want your party’s AI to use as much spells/talents available to them automatically. Without setting up combat tactics those skills will be left unused resulting in repeated party deaths as you progress into the game! And usually when players turns their difficulty down to Normal or even Easy or rage quit for good.
SURVIVAL: This skill gives a character the ability to track enemies on the mini-map. Only one character in the party needs the skill for it to be active. Have one of your main party members or you the warden get at the most Level 1 of survival or ignore it completely. Its a filler skill and not essentially useful to level up unlike Tactics, Herbalism, Poison-bomb making and Trap-Making/disable.
note: Stealing is the least beneficial. Plus it also comes with a severy penalty if you’re caught. (NPC will not speak or give side quests to you) But if its your thing, go for it,
Inventory Space problems?
note: Inventory space for DRAGON AGE ORIGINS has a design problem, due to the game not proving enough inventory space for gamer Hoarders. Or players to do some crafting. Plus, the bag upgrades cost too much Gold.
For crafters or weapon set collectors these are a must have MODs. Dont worry, these mods does not give you prepacked loads of materials like other storage mods does.
Highly advise all players to add
1)
- Expanded Inventory by jwvanderbeck[www.nexusmods.com]
Also Storage box is a must have MOD for all loot you’ll collect.
2)
- Camp Merchant Chest[social.bioware.com]
