Overview

This Slime Rancher guide will help you get the most Newbucks you can on your first day!

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Plort and Newbuck farming can be one of the least enjoyable things early game in Slime Rancher, luckily I found one of the best ways to do it fast and get it over with!

~ Im going to be going over ~

  • What to do when loading in
  • What slimes to choose, and what I personally choose
  • What gordos need to be popped and what regions need to be unlocked
  • What you need to do to prepare your ranch

~ First things to do ~

When loading in, take note of the carrots to your immediate right, these will be super useful later on with the pink Gordo.

These pogo fruit will be located right behind your house next to the plot market. They blend in well with the grass so keep your eyes peeled.

And now your set! You can go and leave your ranch to explore the dry dry reef!

The slimes I personally choose in the early game for most newbucks are the…

  • Honey Slime
  • Crystal Slime

You can find more info on them here

Honey Slimes[slimerancher.fandom.com]
Crystal Slime[slimerancher.fandom.com]

Honey slimes

These sticky slimes are amazing early and late games! Their plorts are super expensive early on, and later on, their plorts are used for a lot of slime science gadgets and decorations. They are only found in the moss blanket which we talk about unlocking this area later.
(Honey def. plort value is 30 Newbucks)

(Find out more on that here)
Slime Science / Gadgets[slimerancher.fandom.com]

Honey slimes favorite food is mint mango which can be found in the Moss Blanket
(See picture below)

Crystal Slimes

The Crystal slimes are very sharp and dangerous but don’t worry they can’t kill you…very fast. Their plorts, like the honey slimes, are very expensive most of the game, but unlike the honey slimes, their plorts are not as valuable when it comes to slime science, still great to have around! They are found in the Indigo quarry in a secret cave system.
(Crystal slimes def. plort value is 60 Newbucks)

Crystal slimes favorite food is the Odd Onion found in Indigo quarry
(See picture below)

Next, you want to pop the gordos and get the keys to unlock the areas! These areas allow access to the crystal and honey slimes.

The Pink Gordo

The Pink Gordo is located in the Reef on a single island in a lake! You can find out more about Gordos here ᐁ

Gordo Slimes[slimerancher.fandom.com]

The Pink Gordo eats every type of food and can be popped with 30 food items. This is why picking up the carrots and pogo fruit, in the beginning, come in handy! So go and collect 30 food and feed it to the Gordo, once popped it will give you 10 Pink slimes, 3 crates, and a slime key. The slime key is the thing you want from the given loot.

The Moss Blanket Gate

The Moss blanket is the next place where you’re going to want to go. The key you got from the Pink Gordo will allow you to unlock the gate and get access to the honey slimes you need. You can learn more about the moss blanket and where to find it here. ᐁ

Slime Gate Location[slimerancher.fandom.com]

The Honey Gordo

The Honey Gordo is your next target, it is located in the Moss Blanket to your left when falling through the tree trunk. See its location in the Wikipedia above ᐃ
The Honey Gordo takes 50 fruit to pop, unlike the Pink Gordo the Honey Gordo only eats fruit. Upon popping the Honey Gordo will drop 10 Honey slimes, 3 crates, and another slime key. Makes sure to pick up at least 4 of the Honey slimes and the slime key.

The Indigo Quarry Gate

The Indigo Quarry gate is the next step in the process. The Indigo Quarry gives access to the Crystal Slimes, and the Odd Onion. The Indigo Quarry gates location can be found in the Slime Gate Location Wikipedia, and the Crystal Slime location can be expanded on more in the Wikipedia in the Slimes section of this guide.

Corrals

When it comes to corrals I usually use just the one you spawn in with, as soon as I can I always get the High Walls upgrade for it. So as soon as you have at least 8 total slimes, of the Crystal and Honey slimes, and some vegetables and/or fruits you can begin the ranching process.

Ranching

When it comes to this part of the process I just like to dump both of the slimes in the corral. After that it’s pretty easy from there, you just shoot the appropriate food items into the corral and the game will do the rest. The two slimes will eat each other’s plorts and turn into Honey/Crystal Largos. You can keep feeding them and collect their plorts and become rich in no time.

Corral Upgrades

Before I start farming I always like to get the best upgrades for my corral possible. The three upgrades that are necessary are…

  • High Walls
  • Plort Collector
  • Auto Feeder

Those are the best upgrades to get the most use out of this guide.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

I really hope this guide helps you get through the ugly part of Slime Rancher! This is just my personal preference so just have fun with it, try different things, and be creative with this game because every Ranch is unique!
