SMITE: Top 5 hunters that work well in arena [patch 3.18]

Overview

Hello everyone, my name is Justas and I’m here with my latest guide. Hunter class in Smite is late game oriented, so a good hunter must do whatever it takes to avoid dying over and over again. Arena is a game mode where crowd control, mobility and lane clearing matters the most. For hunters, I’d say, they must have some sort of CC immunity or a leap to prevent the enemy guardians/warriors from walking all over you. Furthermore, a good hunter must have damage and mobility to hunt down the retreating low hp opponents. Another pro for hunters is if their ultimate works well with your allies. With that said, I’ve discussed with Smite forum members and we came up a with top 5 hunters who are “technically” most suitable for Arena and compliment your team. DISCLAIMER: Just because I didn’t include other hunters, that doesn’t mean they’re useless. All of them can dominate the match if played right. Honorable mentions:Rama – This guy has attack speed increase, a slow and a dash that cripples enemies with basic attacks after using it. Oh yeah, and his ultimate is very useful at sniping low hp targets. Rama might not have roots or stuns, but he is still pretty dangerous. We were debating whether he deserves to be in 5th spot and decided to put him 6th cause the other 5 benefit your team more.Chiron – Safe to play god that supports your team as well. His biggest up is the cc removal ability that can help your ally not being pulled by Ares (assuming his purification is on cooldown). Masterful shot is good at poking and landing killing blows from a safe distance. Chiron’s ultimate allows him to avoid death ( if he can manage to land a killing blow), but in arena you’re always gonna be surrounded by the enemy so even upon reviving you’re still super vulnerable.Medusa – Medusa has a great passive to help her juke incoming ultimates like kukulkan’s dragon or Scylla’s oneshot of doom. She does great burst damage and has an aoe stun ultime to shutdown the enemy engage. Perfect with gods like Erlang Shen and Athena. Despite all that, her attack speed increase only comes with 3 basic attacks and none of her abilities have that long range like Rama, Neith, Anhur.Anhur – speaking of the devil, Anhur has a little bit of everything: a leap, long range ult, animpale stun, a slow and a nice phys power reduction passive. But due to lack of walls in arena, Anhur isn’t used at his full potential, thus why he’s not in the top 5.Hou Yi – Similar to Anhur, exept his ultimate is in a radius rather than a straight line. Ricochet not used at its full potential. However the mark is extremely good against invisible gods like Loki, Ao kuang, Serqet.Ah Muzen Cab – Just like Bellona, he is good at disarming the back attack oriented gods. His ultimate is very good at close range and picking the stinger reduces cooldown. The bees do provide some form of mobility, however he lacks stuns, roots and long range, that’s why he isn’t in the top 5.Skadi – She might not have CC immunity or leaps, but good for disrupting the enemy engages and letting Kaldr to chase down low HP enemies or waveclear. In my opinion, Skadi is played like ISIS and Anubis, where without having escapes, she relies on killing the enemy before they kill her.

Top 5 hunters that work well in arena

05. Jing Wei

Jing wei is one of the most mobile gods in Smite. Not only that, her gust knocks up enemy gods including herself. The attack speed buff is nice too. Her 2nd ability does aoe crits making her like Artemis. However, Jing Wei is doesn’t have globac cc abilities and cc is one of the most important factors in arena along with burst damage. Also her ult is more visible in arena, which is another disadvantage.

04. Neith

Neith’s passive benefits in arena. Her first ability is great at CC’ing squishy targets, allowing your guardian or warrior to engage. The unravel provide a decent amount of sustain and reducing enemy attack speed. Useful against enemy basic attack speed oriented gods. The backflip is nice, but I’m not sure if you can escape Odin’s cage with it. The ultimate has aimbot accuracy, but can be blocked by meatshield enemy guardians. She also lacks CC immunity, which makes her less good against Ares.

03. Cupid

Cupid has an explosive aoe burst stun, a little bit of healing, a dash/attack speed passive and large aoe stun ultimate that can be used well with Odin’s cage or Ares ult. Cupid is an ability based and doesn’t crit as much as the other two contenders. He also lacks CC immunity.

02. Artemis

Despite lacking movement, Artemis makes it up for having great roots, aoe arrow rain burst, attack speed increase, crit increase passive and a global aoe stun ultimate that also makes her immune to CC. She is a little bit mana hungry as well.

01. Xbalanque

Xbalanque has been picked as a number 1 hunter for Arena. His passive grants him extra power on kills, which is an advantage in arena where kills happen very often. His bola branching is good at aoe poking and lane clearing. The poison darts give enemies a slow and burst damage. His dash grants him CC immunity and it’s not even his ultimate, meaning Ares doesn’t scare him. Xbalanque has a good blind ultimate that also increases his movement speed. Now, I personally never had the problem dealing with his ult, because I know how to disengage from combat. The only downside he has is no critical hit abilities/passive like artemis or Jing Wei.
