Overview
A nearly complete (I will update the guide as I complete Vivian Clark) achievement guide for Soda Drinker Pro. Slurp Up!
Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my first Steam guide.
Today we will be looking at Soda Drinker Pro in an attempt to nail down those pesky hidden achievements you may be struggling to figure out.
I’m missing conclusive information for 1 achievement currently, and I will be updating this guide as I obtain it.
Without further ado, bottoms up, and let’s begin!
Main Game Progression Achievements
These achievements will unlock just by finishing the main levels of the game.
If you are trying to get through it as quickly as possible, you can easily just slam your soda back to advance through the levels speedily, but be sure to grab the achievements from specified levels, and to pick up as many bonus sodas as you can (when you’re not on a level in which you’re moving extremely slowly.)
To move faster, I recommend walking sideways, as it seems to have better speed than just trudging straight forward on those slow levels. When you finish the main game, you will unlock a level select that will allow you to mop up any level-specific achievements you may have missed.
Start Sipping
-Just start up the game and begin playing to unlock this one. Easy enough.
Effervescent Sipper
-Beat level 1. This will unlock on level 2. Now we’re getting somewhere.
Effervescent Burper
-Beat level 10. This will unlock on level 11. Steady as she goes.
Effervescent Ingurgitater
-Beat level 60. This will unlock on level 61. Marching onward!
Effervescent Imbiber
-Beat level 90. This will unlock on level 91. Almost there…
I Am Soda!
-Complete the game. When you have finished all 102 levels, you will unlock 16 bonus levels. Simply complete these and you will unlock this achievement. (note: you will need to unlock Vivian Clark at some point to also have ‘completed’ the game. To find out how to unlock Vivian Clark, skip to that section of this guide)
Level-Specific Achievements part 1
Now we get into the meat syrup of the guide: the level-specific achievements. To unlock these, you will need to be in certain levels and complete certain tasks. I’m not certain if you actually need to sip soda during all these encounters, but it would be a safe bet to make sure you have some soda to drink briefly while you attempt to unlock the following, as it may be required while you’re doing said activity.
2001: A Sip Odyssey
LEVEL 4 – IN SPACE
This one is fairly easy; you simply need to back up as the level starts until you fall off the map.
Say Cheese (or Soda)
LEVEL 10 – AT THE COUNTY FAIR
When you start the level and head left, you’ll notice a building. This is the photo booth. Simply go inside and take a satisfying sip of your tasty soda.
Life Without Soda Isn’t Worth Living
LEVEL 14 – ON A SKYSCRAPER
Not too difficult if you play your cards right. At the beginning of the stage, you’ll already be oriented in the correct direction. Simply walk up to the ledge in front of you, look down to see the Bonus Soda, and fall off. With a little skill, and a little luck, you’ll snag the Bonus Soda as you fall.
Here’s where you want to face.
Here’s the tasty soda.
1 Point
&
Another Point
LEVEL 19 – IN THE DESERT HEADED TO VEGAS
Both these achievements are obtained on the same level, but man, oh man… get ready for a long walk. You’ll need to walk all the way to the end of the road to the bus, and enter the bus around the front (it can be tricky; I had to walk all through the front of it before it unlocked for me) to unlock 1 Point. Then, you have to walk all the way to the picture of the city at the end of the road even further down to unlock the next achievement. This is a slow-moving level, so be sure to walk sideways to make it a more bearable trip.
[BONUS: These achievements are a reference to a game by magician/comedians Penn & Teller that was never released on the Sega CD, called Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors, which had a variety of joke games. One of these games was the infamous ‘Desert Bus’ in which you had to drive a bus to Las Vegas in real-time (it took 8 hours, and you couldn’t pause, stop, or rest) and you were awarded with 1 point, whereupon you would turn around, make another 8 hour trip, and be awarded with…another point.]
Oh no… not another long stretch of hot desert road… luckily I have this refreshing soda.
And here we are in Vegas! Ring-a-ding-ding!
S.K.A.T.E.
LEVEL 30 – AT THE SKATE PARK
You’ll want to grind the rail all the way across. You can see the rail on the bottom of the area that you start on. Just make sure you start grinding from the far ramp, not from the ramp closest to you. Be sure to show off your wicked sick Soda Strawtap.
Old Man Soda
LEVEL 40 – WITH THE OLD MAN
All you need to do is walk up to the Old Man, sip some soda, and listen to him prattle and blather on about the “good old days” to unlock this achievement.
Find a Friend in the Maze
LEVEL 41 – IN A MAZE
This one might be a bit tricky. The goal is to find your red buddy inside this maze. Just follow my directions, and you’ll be slurpin’ soda with a pal in no time!
When you first start, follow the only path you can take, until you enter a large, open room. Take the first left path you come to. (In the screenshot, it’s the path of the Bonus Soda on the right)
When you fall down the first hole, turn around. Take the left-most path at the end of the hall, and follow it back and to the right.
Go past this board on the ground. Don’t worry, you can squeeze through.
When you’ve fallen down the second hole, take the left-most path.
There’s your buddy! Go give him a taste of your soda.
Pizza Time
LEVEL 45 – IN A SEWER
When you enter the sewer (I won’t ask why you’re down there), just turn left, and enter the pipe. Go forward until you see some pizza. No Ninja Turtles must be around, or else this pizza would be eaten. Hop on and slurp some soda. Just don’t eat what you find in sewers. Don’t take a page from Simon Belmont’s book and eat any old meat you find in a wall, or in this case, pizza in a sewer.
Earl’s Soda Strike
LEVEL 80 – WHILE BOWLING
When you start this level, turn left and you’ll see some Bonus Sodas lined up like bowling pins. Just run at them and collect them all, and you should unlock this cheevo. Just don’t tell Walter you ran onto the lane. Is he the only one who cares about the rules?
Level-Specific Achievements part 2
Sip and Slide
LEVEL 85 – AT A WATERSLIDE PARK
When you start the level, turn right and you’ll see the top of a long yellow slide. Just slide all the way down to the bottom to unlock this one. This is Napoleon’s favorite place to sip soda in San Dimas.
8 Legs Can Hold 8 Cups
LEVEL 89 – IN A BED
You’ll start this level in bed. Just jump off the bed, and creep underneath. You’ll see a spider hiding under there. Just run up to him and share a soda. Achievement unlocked!
Xtreem Friendship!
LEVEL 101 – WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND
When you start this level, look to the right and you’ll see your zany looking best friend. What he’s doing in this game I’ll never know. There’s a ramp to the right of him that you’ll want to get a running start, and sprint up and over. If done correctly, you should leap over your friend and get this cheeve. No need to walk sideways on this level, as you move quickly.
The ramp on the right is the one you want.
Just back up and run up this ramp.
Any-Level Achievements
These achievements can be completed on any level. I got most of them on level 2 (in the park), but feel free to do them on whichever level you wish. (note: see ‘Bonus Soda Master’ for more information, as it has a suggestion for a good level to farm Bonus Sodas)
Your Cup Runneth Over
Just grab your first Bonus Soda to unlock this one. They are the large sodas you’ll find in random locations on levels. And yes, there are many that you simply cannot get, such as the ones waaaay up in the sky for some reason.
The Thirst is Real
Drink a full soda in under 60 seconds. Easy peasy. Just bring the soda to your lips, and drink mightily, stopping for nothing, and you should get this achievement.
360 No Scope Soda Sip
Just drink a soda while spinning around in a circle. Simple stuff.
Ansipipation
Bring the soda to your lips, but don’t drink it. You have to hold the soda up to your mouth for 60 seconds without drinking it.
Sip, Don’t Slurp
To get this one, you have to take 10 minutes to drink a soda. Basically, look at a clock in your room to see when the minute turns over, and take a sip. Just take a sip every 45-60 seconds or so. Just a tiny taste. After 10 minutes, (you should make it 11, just to be sure), feel free to finish off the rest of your soda.
One Fine Beverage
Play the game for one hour. I’m not sure if this needs to be done in a single sitting, but there’s an achievement coming up next that requires you to play for one hour in a single sitting, so you may as well knock them both out together.
Oh So Parched
Do not drink a soda for one hour. Just start up a level, and do not drink anything. Just let your game idle while you go watch a few episodes on Netflix. Make sure you don’t take any sips, because I tried this by entering a level, taking one sip, and idling the game for a few hours. I came back and no achievement. So just enter the level, do nothing, wait, ???, profit. This can be combined with both the previous achievement, One Fine Beverage, and the next achievement, BL4CK and S1LV3R.
BL4CK and S1LV3R
This is an odd one. To get this, you have to stare up at the ceiling for 10 minutes while doing nothing. Just look straight up, and go do something else for a bit. This can be combined with the previous two achievements, One Fine Beverage, and Oh So Parched.
Midnight Soda
You need to start the game at around 11:55pm, or so. Then, just wait until midnight, and take a drink of soda. Just to be sure, you can press SHIFT + TAB to bring up the Steam overlay to tell you what time it is, then just wait for 11:59:55, and start drinking. The achievement should proc as you drink.
Bonus Soda Master
Collect 1,000 Bonus Sodas. Oh man, oh man. This one is rough. I have actually completed this one, and according to astats, I am the first (and, as of this guide being written, the only) achiever to have obtained it thus far. Horn tooted.
The best spot I have found to farm for Bonus Sodas is level 80 (while bowling). Just start up level 80, grab the 12 Bonus Sodas arranged like bowling pins, then save and quit, rinse, repeat.
(NOTE: You do NOT need to finish the soda in order to get credit for the Bonus Sodas. Just save and quit as soon as you get them, then slog your way back through the main menu, to the level select, and back to level 80)
Vivian Clark Achievements
This section has one achievement I have yet to complete, as I’m just getting started with Vivian Clark. I will update this section of the guide as I get the achievement unlocked.
HOW TO UNLOCK VIVIAN CLARK:
To unlock this interesting game within Soda Drinker Pro, you need to go to level 2 (in the park), and enter into the large red and black building painted onto the wall.
Enter this building.
Your First Guidebook
These are pages you must purchase for 75 collects each (blue cubes obtained through Vivian Clark minigames) from the shop on the left side of the cave with the campfire that you will become very acquainted with while playing Vivian Clark. Simply purchase one of these for this achievement.
Your Finished Guidebook
Presumably you must purchase all of the pages available from the shop in the campfire cave. I have yet to get this achievement. I will update this section when I unlock this one.
Collects Collects Collects
You need to collect 500 of the blue cubes within the Vivian Clark game. They do not need to be gotten in a single run.
Stoke the Fire
For this achievement, you need to purchase 5 logs from the shop on the left side in the campfire cave. They cost 30 collects each. You’ll won’t be able to purchase them all at once, your first or second time entering the cave, even if you have enough collects, as you’ll need to die once each time you want to use the log, as you cannot put a log on a fully lit fire. You will need 150 collects total to purchase the 5 logs. This must be done in a single run.
Conclusion
Well, I hope that this guide may have helped you with one or two achievements you may have been curious about how to unlock. Sorry about the unfinished Vivian Clark achievement, but hopefully it’ll get sorted out soon. Until then, keep slurpin’!
Thanks for viewing, and have a pleasant day.
