Solving issues witha touchy Xbox360 Controller

Overview

This guide is to help those who have had my issue in the past: an extensively touchy Xbox 360 controller that can’t seem to be turned down properl sensetivity-wise, specifically with steering.

Just some clarification before you continue…

This guide was built and tailored by me and me only. You may not like my moderately aggressive driving style, and thats fine. Feel free to tune any kind of settings you wish. This is not the guide on how to run your life.

Now onto the actual configuration:

Configuration

Now onto the actual configuration of the controller. Make sure you are using an XB360 Controller.

For starters, go into your menu (Top Right, 3 bars in a box) and go to your Options and Help. Go down to controls, enter it, and find your way to Custom controller. This is important. Set gearing to what you wish as well as the inverting for the Camera’s Y axis and gearing. Now here’s where the real fun begins. Before you do ANYTHING, we need to map your controls. Go to the edit assignments tab and make sure you have you controller in hand. There are two ways you can go about this: A. Go with the more-recent optimized controls most games use, or go with my personal favorte for games (but I don’t use it for pCARS) and map the classic PS2 racing game controls.

Only different between these options is messing around with the Triggers, Bumpers, and A X Y B buttons. For demonstrations purposes we will use the newer control scheme for this guide.

Here I have listed wht my mapping are and what each bind does (unless self explanatory):

Steer Left(Louie): Left Thumbstick Left
Steer Right(Richie): Left thumbstick Right
Throttle (Gas Pedal): RT
Brake(Give the car a good ol’ stop): LT

Gear Shift Up(Vrum Vrum for longer): RB
Gear Shift Down(Vrum Vrum faster): LB

Map all your RIGHT stick directions to your prefered directions,

Sensetivity and Force sliders

Now on to solving sensetivity issues. Like i stated earlier, feel free to mess around with your sliders to find your comfort zone, as I had to.

Steering Deadzone: 0
Steering Sensetivity: 0 (Helps solve the touchiness)

Throttle Deadzone: 0
Throttle Sensetivity: 30

Brake Deadzone: 10
Brake Sensetivity: 15

Clutch Deadzone and sensetivity(didn’t matter for me cause I don’t use one): 10 and 45

These two optios are the key to what I found helps when editing to solve over or under sensetivity.
Speed Sensetivity: 65
Controller Filtering Sensetivity: 50

Force Feedback:Variable
No vibration:0
Live in California(???): 100

RPM/Gear display: Yes (again, optional)
Controller Input mode: 3
Advanced: Optional (I prefer No)

Thats it.

Like I said a few times, always feel free to mess with your setting all you want. I made this guide to help people that had my problem with Over-sensetivity with steering.

Thanks for reading and leave any suggestions in the comments.

Have a good one,

Pix
