This is some of the tips i have learned from a thousands of ssl players i have come across including my friends 🙂
Tips for players who just started playing ShellShock Live
So yeah , you have bought this awesome looking 2d game and you’re ready to destroy some tanks with awesome weapons!….wait wait wait …. not so quick buddy.. if you enter the warzone now , ready to get destroyed immediatly.
What many new players make mistake is , they buy the game and starts playing multiplayer like the second they log in, which makes them vulnerable in battlefield and they die instantly.
But take time to go play the campaigns in the singleplayer menu , which has great missions to get you started in playing games, and guess what , completing certain amount of missions gifts you with new powerful weapons.
I am playing a lot of campaigns , what should i do next?
After getting hang of the aiming mechanics of this game as well as how weapons work , go to multiplayer and try playing DeathMatch game mode , adjust the settings which you prefer and play continously. For starters , the gamemode might be hard and you will lose like 5 matches out of 6 , but each win/lose gains you xp and also how others play.
Below are the settings and gamemode we recommend to be adapted to ASAP
WIND
Many high level players always play with wind , so that there is no players using rulers and also makes aiming a challenge.
REBOUND GAMEMODE
This is one of the most played gamemode since it offers you more xp , as well as is a real challenge for players , this mode requires you to bounce the wep from a pink bumper and hit the opponent to do damage. Even the most experienced players find this game really tough.
ONE WEAPON
This combined with Rebound mode is the most popular choice made by experienced players to level up and gain some experience.As the name says , this setting gives you only 1 weapon per round.
What is gears and what is skill ratings
GEARS
Gears are the money of this game , you can buy weapons , tank chasis , maps and map colors and even a victory tune for yourself YAY…
How do i get them?
Gears can be gained by 4 ways
1)When weapons hit an enemy , they give off gears sometimes
2) Bounty : Ingame if a player is marked with bounty , if he or she gets killed , they drop off gears
3) Gear Crate : This crate hovers around the map randomly , when a player shoots it he or she gets
about 5 gears while the other players in game gets only 1.
4)Daily win bonus : When a player wins a game , he or she can spin the win bonus in the main
lobby ranging rom no gears upto 100 gears!
Skill Rating or ELO
This is a number displayed near your name when you enter a game. This number can be as low as below 1000 upto 4999.This value increases , if you win a game but decreases if you lose some.
I am not going to guide you how to gain ELO , because there are guides for that online in YT or steam
Is it important to have high ELO?
No. ELO is just a number and will not help you in any way ingame.
Shop Weapons.
Now that you have enough gears to buy some awesome weapons to destroy tanks , lets go buy some …. wait which one should i buy first??
Here are my suggestions to buy weapons in shops.
This list shows from what weapon to buy first to last.
Note:These are my own opinions are im not compelling or saying these are the only order to buy weapons
Witch : Consistent Damage(66) any where in map and has good AOE.
Travellers : Not a consistent Damage but can do 250 damage without x2 to a single person.
Summoner : Cosistent Damage anywhere on map (75+) , affected by wind , small projectile AOE.
Jack-O-Latern : Decent Damage , Very good on holes and flat maps , Good AOE.
Tangent Fire : Ok damage , Good AOE coverage due to multiple projectlles , Good on Multiplayer
Death Match (4+ players).
Throwing Star :Good damage and AOE , its true potential is when used below player on side of wall.
Volcano :Not Bad AOE , Ok damage , good when used on stack.
Answers to common questions.
Here are my opinions and answers to some of the common questions asked by SSL players.
(this also applies to me)
1)God Rays
This is the most common topic talked ingame after the achievement changes made in last year.
God rays is a weapon you aquire when you defeat Kchamp[DEV] or a lvl 100 in a game (does not include tournament).
But problem causes when low level players wants god rays and they beg the lvl 100 to give a free win , this is what causes that player to get kicked or muted since , they want it without earning it.
So how do i get god rays , im just [Insert level here] and im not capable enough to defeat lvl 100
Then just wait and level up , you will eventually get it.
I defeated a lvl 100 fair and sqare but he/she rage quit and i didnt get the achievement
Honestly , if he/she rage quit except for the fact they have important work to do , then yea you deserve that and they are just salty and jerks (people in comments i have done it too , but i think im come to realisation) All i have to say is you are better player than them and dont worry you will get it soon :).

This is basically the aim used by all to gauge thier shots or land thier shots perfectly (including me)
Is this the best way to aim?
Grow up! , using this is a silly tactics and will eventually fail you . Try to learn arcing which is the important aspect of this game.Im not saying not to use this , but do not use this always.
My opinions to topics related to SSL
These are some of my opinions regarding various topics , im not pointing fingers at anyone and if i offend someone i’m sorry
Cheap Shot
This is a common word you hear (mainly in Rebound mode) , said by high level players.
quotes include “Do not cheap shot” , “I’ll kill you if you cheap shot me”.
My thoughts : Grow up! let a person play however they want , there is no rules against it.
Wall Licking
This term is used when a player goes near a wall and stays there or “camps” there the entire game
My thoughts : I dont really mind that , just think of it as a strategy to win, but they will face
concequence , when enemy gets weapons like helianthus or breaker mania , then
dont cry if they hit you.
Targetting
When a player hits another player for multiple turns continously then that is reffered as
targetting.
My thoughts : Well i see this from 2 perpective 1)Team Matches
2)FFA Matches
well in team matches if all of the team targets you , then they are taking your team
one by one and there is nothing wrong in thier perspective , it does make you mad
but accept it they are doing something to win and that is the motive behind this game
In FFA matches if they target you , yea i agree that sucks , they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and
leaving is only option i can suggest cuz playing with them gains you nothing.
Why me 🙁
This is not that common but a word used by mid level players ranging from 60’s in FFA
matches
My thoughts : This is FFA , not a team , if you enter this mode , expect to get hit , if you cry go
and play a shoccer or something that doesnt involve hp.
Kyle!!!
Players can be seen complaining or cursing kyle cause something went wrong on game
My thoughts : Guys , chill , Kyle is a single DEV and he is also a Human Being , if the updates are
late i can understand , this might be cuz he has his own personal issues he has to
handle , he cant be spending 24×7 in this game and being a DEV is not an easy job
, if you are still complaining go and make your own game then. For people who
curse kyle because he/she misses a shot due to bounce , grow up! , this is
simulation not kyle controlling where shot lands.
If he/she misses a shot due to bug , then cursing kyle , i do believe he is working on
a fix.
