Overview
This guide is for complete noobs who want to get a feel for the game using PAK128 before going on a long read about profitablity, planning, supply/demand, etc. Start your first network in only 5 minutes using Pak128!You will learn:- Placing Roads and Rails- Placing a Station and Stop- Adding Stops to a vehicle- Sending your vehicle for its first trip!
Getting Started
We will be using Sandbox Mode which can be enabled in the Simutrans Launcher. While the same could be done outside Sandbox Mode, this will disable bankruptcy which is important since this guide is not supposed to make you a profitable line but simply show you the basics.
I will be using Pak128 since its the one I been playing for more than 10 years.
Roads
Our first task will consist of joining the towns of Bradford and Bristol. During the map creation process a government owned road was created at no cost to us.
First navigate to the Road Tools menu. We will place a Bus Stop with a capacity of 32 Passengers.
Now we must identify the best place for this stop in Bristol. Before placing your stop, it displays its coverage in orange outlines. This location is perfect since it covers Townhall, a Gas Station, and most of the buildings in town.
We will repeat this process in the city of Bradford. This time covering every building in town!
Now that we have placed both of our bus stops its time to connect them! Its time to add our convoy.
First thing you got to do is navigate to the Road Tools Menu and select the Garage.
Once again we have to find a good place for the garage. I placed my garage in a dead end street in Bristol as its very close to my first stop. and didn’t have to destroy any road segments.
We have built our garage. left clicking on it will bring up the Garage Menu with a list of purchasable vehicles. You can see the vehicle details by hovering over it. We will purchase the Gaz-3 by left clicking on it.
Once you own the vehicle you can begin by assigning it stops. You can bring up the schedule by clicking on Schedule
Once the Schedule Menu pops up you can begin adding stops by clicking on Add Stop and clickiing on the stop in the map. We will place our first stop at Bristol Gas Station yard and our second stop at Bradford City Hall stop
Once you are done placing your stops you can close the Schedule window
You have placed your stops, purchased a vehicle, you set a schedule now its time to click on Start and let your vehicle start picking up passengers
I will continue adding guides for basic passenger rails and ship route, plus a very basic goods route.
I will also try to improve the formatting on this once I get a hang of the Steam Guide editor
