Opening Uno with Uplay without needing a key
Opening Uno
Uno is owned by Ubisoft, though thankfully we can purchase it through Steam. However, there is an immediate problem: the Uplay launcher requires the creation of an account through Ubisoft, and then requires a key to play Uno. Thankfully, there is a solution to this problem, and it isn’t trying to hunt down the key somewhere hidden in Steam (which I couldn’t find in my search).
1- When making your Ubisoft account, MAKE SURE THE ACCOUNT EMAIL MATCHES YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT EMAIL. This is what has primarily stopped the automatic linking between Steam and Uplay. If it’s your computer, it’s easier to just mark the ‘keep me logged in’ toggle.
a) If they don’t match, it’s easier to just make a new account using the matching email. Trying to edit it leads you back to the Ubisoft site, and honestly, I didn’t even want to go through the effort of navigating their site to see if there was the ability to change emails.
2- Close the Uplay app. Do not log out, just close it out completely.
3- Reload Uno through Steam. It may still be open, even with the Uplay app shut down. Force shut it down, or restart Steam to make sure it’s closed entirely. Now the Uplay app will reopen, and it should offer to link your Uplay account to Steam. Once you do this, it will acknowledge that you have purchased Uno, and you’ll be able to play.
4- Uno should now automatically open and you’ll be able to play!
I hope this helps!
