Overview
This guide is summarised information about stats. This includes the buffs from each stat, fastest ways to increase them; among some other things. (Sanity, Strength, Weight, and Athleticism). *Thanks for reading*
Sanity
Sanity is your person’s frame of mind, as you should all know. As I know of, there is no reason why sanity is in the game other than if you are below 90% you can create effigies permanently. (effigies are a way to scare of enemies from an area by placing pieces of dead bodies on sticks).
While it can be increased by listening to music via the cassette player, sitting on benches/chairs/couches, sleeping, and eating fresh meat (with this meaning lizard meat, rabbit meat, meat, small meat, and fishes).
It goes down slowly when killing cannibals and mutants, cutting the body parts off of the cannibals, spending time in caves and the most effective way is to eat the body parts of cannibals. While it also decreases at a very low rate while inside caves.
Strength
Strength affects how much damage your melee weapons do. (ignore the next part if you don’t want to know how to work it out) Now you can work out how much percentage your strength increases damage on a weapon by doing a little calculation. Do (Your strength) × 100 ÷ 140 = (Damage Increase Percentage).
*Example, 26 × 100 ÷ 140 = 18.57 % increase in damage.
Calories are used to increase your strength, and around 4000 calories are needed in one day to increase your strength by 2.
Strength can be increased swinging your weapons, such as your axe or a bone it doesn’t matter, while it is recommended to use the bone as its very hard to run out of stamina while using it. it seems you can only gain or lose 2 strength per in-game day, while this can be bypassed by saving and exiting and loading the game again. Swinging a bone for 4 minutes and 10 seconds gains two strength, and burns 3000 calories. Saving and exiting resets the the strength gain limit (but remember to manage calories)
Keeping your characters weight between 200 and 210 is important as anything below 200 affects strength, and anything above 210 affects athleticism. (Currently the weight value changes once a day at sunrise).
You lose strength by not eating enough per day and by being ill which you can easily get rid of the effects by taking some aloe.
Weight
Weight can be increased to 305 being the max, and 155 being the lowest. The starting weight is 205 and being 210 or over you can be considered overweight. Being under or overweight either affects strength or athleticism.
So try and stay at around 207 lbs.
This one is self-explanatory, eating enough calories makes you gain weight and not eating enough lowers the weight.
Athleticism
Athleticism influences the recovery rate of stamina, decreases how much stamina you use (running, chopping, etc.), and it also increases how long you can swim underwater without the rebreather.
You can gain athleticism fairly simply, by sprinting everywhere and by maintaining the 207 weight is essential for this one. You can also dive without a rebreather this increases athleticism the most out of all activities. Quickest way to increase the stat is to swim, not run. (Don’t forget calories as it wont increase the level without them)
You lose it if you don’t move around enough.
