Half-Life 2 Guide

Staying in Ravenholm/Getting Annabelle Glitch for Half-Life 2

Staying in Ravenholm/Getting Annabelle Glitch

Overview

Describes two exploits at the end of We don’t go to Ravenholm – one that allows you to stay and fight alongside Father Grigori, and another that allows you to kill him and obtain his rifle.

Glitch 1 – Staying in Ravenholm

Don’t want to abandon ol’ Father Grigori? Want to slay zombies alongside him until the very end? Well, this minor glitch will let you get back under the exit gate, and fight once more by Grigori’s side.

To start, you’ll need a radiator from one of the apartment sections of Ravenholm. Carry one across the lift to the cemetary, where Grigori will tell you to follow him to the mines. Hold onto that radiator and kill the zombies along the way until you reach this gate.

From here, you’ll need to position the radiator so that it’s on its edge, not its side. Here is how it should look:

Now, you’ll need to crouch, and slowly move backward while carrying the radiator with your gravity gun. Move back bit by bit until the gate closes on the radiator. If done right, it should start releasing smoke and create a gap big enough to crouch under.

Don’t touch the radiator too much, as it will drain your health rapidly. Just crouch under while minimizing contact with the radiator, and you’ll probably catch Grigori in the middle of his short dialogue.

What you do next is entirely up to you. Grigori will set fire to the front of the crypt, but you can move around the flames on the left and camp inside the building with him. Eventually, he will vanish, but have fun killing zombies with him while you can!

Whenever you get bored, you can just crouch under the gate again and resume the story of Half-Life 2.

Glitch 2 – Obtaining Grigori’s Rifle (Annabelle)

EDIT: (6/28/13): Despite Valve claiming that Annabelle can no longer be obtained via glitching, I have retested my method and can confirm that it still works. The gate used to kill Grigori has been lowered partially (requiring you to crouch to get under it), but the middle block in the stack can still be launched off effectively. Maybe Valve fixed some other method I didn’t know about…

————————————————————————————————————————-

This is probably the reason why you’re reading the guide. With this tutorial, you’ll be able to carry Father Grigori’s famous lever-action rifle around the game. Annabelle will overlap the spot used to hold the AR2, but that weapon can still be selected using number keys instead of the scroll wheel. Remember to save frequently so you don’t have to constantly redo each step!
So, to start off, you’ll need three objects of small stature. The easiest method is to use three cinderblocks from the graveyard, but two bricks and a radiator also work. I’ll just be doing the radiator-and-two-blocks method.

Once you have the necessary items together, stack them with the radiator on the bottom, and the two cinderblocks on top. If you’re doing the brick method, any order may be used. However, they must all be placed against the left side of the gate.

Now, just like in the first glitch, slowly crouch under the gate until you reach the other side.

Get behind where your pile is, as Grigori walks to the gate to give his last bit of advice. Once he gets within a foot of the fence, start pressing your primary fire with the Gravity Gun on the middle cinderblock to apply pressure to the pile. Repeat until the middle block launches off at Grigori and knocks him to the ground. If the block fails to kill Grigori, either reload your save or attempt to send the top block at Grigori.

Somewhere near Grigori’s corpse should be his brown rifle, Annabelle. Crouch down and try to drag it under the gate using the Gravity Gun’s alternate fire.

Now pick that fine weapon up and take it as your own! It runs off magnum ammo, holds two rounds in a clip, and has a low rate of fire. These issues can be circumvented by holding reload while firing, which makes it a deadly automatic weapon.

I don’t know why it looks like the shotgun in first-person, but at least it functions.

Hopefully, this guide will have been useful to you!
