Overview
This tutorial will help you understand and implement several different ways of steering in Besiege. In written and video format.
About The Creator
The internet calls me Petard, I’m a Croatian youtuber and this is my first attempt at a full tutorial for Steam. I’m a big fan of Besiege and I have a section on my website dedicated to the game. There is a submission form for machines and a database table with downloads of all machines that were submitted so far.
All of my info is available below if you happen to be interested.

Video Tutorial
This video tutorial explains 3 ways of steering in Besiege, using only wheels then steering hinges and blocks.
Triple Wheels Method
First, make the base of the car.
Start adding wheels until you have a set of 3 wheels on each position. If you add all 3 wheels immediately, you will not be able to see the rotation of the inner 2 wheels so make sure to do it step by step.
The tip where the main unmovable block is should be your front side. Now edit the parameters of the most inner wheels of your back side.
Finally, add braces to secure your car and you should be set!
Steering Hinges Method
I am a huge hater of this method but it can work so here we go.
Same base as before:
Add steering hinges to the front wheels only. This time the main unmovable block is in the back side, for no particular reason:
Edit the right steering hinge so the values are opposite of what they initially are:
Make sure the rotations of your wheels are correct.
That’s it, the car works but if you steer too much towards the left or right, bad things will happen.
Steering Blocks Method
This is the fastest method but the machine isn’t as agile as the triple wheel one.
Same base
Add the steering blocks before the wheels
The tuner isn’t really necessary for this method but you can speed up the rotations for more agility(still not much though)
Fix the rotations of both wheels and steering blocks as shown on the images:
It’s very fast and reasonably effective but I prefer the triple wheels.
