Subnautica: Flora & Fauna Research for Subnautica

Subnautica: Flora & Fauna Research

Overview

This guide gives information about the flora and fauna in the world of Subnautica, that i’ve discovered so far. I’m trying to use solely my own information, pictures, videos etc.

Intro

Because this guide is made with information gathered by my own, it won’t be complete. If you need more complete information you should use the Subnautica Wikia[subnautica.wikia.com].

To update the guide i need to make progress in the game concerning the research of the Flora and Fauna, this can take some time.

First i’ll present a list of the Flora and after that a list of the Fauna, both in alphabetical order.

If some of the information is not correct concerning your experience of the game, please write a comment. This will help me to provide an accurate guide to all of you.

FLORA

The flora is represented by the many sorts of plants and corals in the water and on the few islands in the world of Subnautica. Some of these plants are more commonly spread than others. Some can be used in various ways, while other are apparantly unusable or even dangerous.

The following sections are showing the flora i’ve examined while playing Subnautica. They are listed alphabetically for easy searching.

Reaper Leviathan

Occurence
Aurora, Crash Zone, Dunes, Mountains

Behavior
Hostile

Attack
Seamoth / Human
Circeling his prey and attacking from behind, locking it with his four powerful mandible claws, shaking it, and at the same time he consumes it. It’s attacks are strong enough to damage the seamoth.
Cyclops
It can’t really damage the cyclops, but maybe it can push the cyclops deep enough to exceed its crush resistance.

Scanning Results
Leviathan class species are vast organisms at the top of their respective food chains. This species is a streamlined hunter, with highly developed senses.

  1. Powerful Mandibles:
This leviathan is capable of locking prey in place with four powerful mandibles, and drawing it within reach of its jaws. Simulated pressure exceeds Seamoth crush resistance.

  2. Echolocation:
The deep roar emitted by the reaper at regular intervals is effectively sonar – if you can hear it properly, the reaper can see you.

  3. Profile:
Scanned specimen measured 55m long. Observed circling its prey and attacking from behind. This creature is almost all muscle. Very little brain. No sense of morality. Just muscle, synapses and teeth.

Motivational note: Congratulations on getting close enough to scan it and living to see the results!

Assessment: Extreme threat – Avoid in all circumstances

The Warper Can teleport you out of the Seamoth or the PRAWN Suit while you operate it.

Scanning Results
An aggressive creature with the ability to teleport itself and others in space. No genetic crossover identified with indigenous lifeforms. Demonstrates no recognized defensive behavior.

  1. Head:
Mechanisms located in the head region provide its warping capability, which it uses to stalk its targets.
  2. Torso:
Appears to hunt other lifeforms, but no digestive organs have been identified. Internal structure considerably more complex than other known organisms. Unable to distinguish whether organic or artificial in nature.
