Overview
In this guide I will tell you how to use the Soviet medium tanks or the T-34’s, I know they can be a bit hard for people new to the Soviet medium tanks. I would do all the medium tanks from every faction but I haven’t played enough yet, thanks.
Introduction
If you have not bought a Soviet medium tank but your about to, I highly recommend that you buy the T-34/76 even if you have unlocked the upgunned version, the T-34/85. The reason for this is not because I think the 85 is not worth it but because they are similar and you need to get used to playing the 76 before the 85 because the 85 will cost heaps to repair and usually when you start with a new tank you won’t do so well. The 76 is about 3x cheaper to repair and is still a great tank. I’ll talk about the 85 later in this guide regarding if you should get it or not but when I say T-34 I mean both the 76 and 85.
Basic rules you should know
So you spawn in your T-34 and you head straight for the capture point and with some other teamates against a place with lots of enemies and you think that’s fine because you can kill infantry and support your teammates on capping the point right? Wrong, it might be fine to do that with other tanks but not with the T-34. The T-34s turret cannot look down meaning that usually when at a capture point your in a cramped area and because you cannot look down it’s nearly impossible to kill infantry coming and you can easily get rekt from infantry with anti tank weapons.Rule 2, if you are crossing areas like bridges or roads that are populated and all your doing is driving not incombat it is a good idea to look out for enemy mines on the road. Rule 3 try not to get your tank stuck so be careful how you drive. Rule 4. if possible always buy a wrench and if you have the money you can buy a weapon like a pistol, and also equip the gunner badge and if you have got veteran I reckon mechanic as well.
Stay low and keep your mojo
First things first the T-34 is, what I reckon quite a defensive tank. So what I mean by that is don’t get aggressive and close to the enemy and support your infantry by overwatching a capture point as they capture it but still from an ok distance. Stay stealthy too, the best terrain for the T-34 is to hide at a low forest. The reason I say not in a hilly area is the T-34 can’t aim it’s turret down and usually on a hill you need to look down to shoot, so the only way to shoot at the enemy on a hill is to get on the front of it (The side that the enemy are coming) and make your tank face down a little which exposes your tank alot. So with the T-34 low terrain is good and you should stick to forests because this tank has a great camoflauge to it with forests.
Enemy tanks
Before any other targets’ other tanks are the target you need to get rid of before anything else. So remember before stay low and keep your mojo and it’s fine to kill infantry but if a tank comes and there’s infantry then kill the tank. You want to hit the weak parts in a tank and these are usually the sides and rear but if the tank is facing its front to you then you might wanna look online to know where the weakest part is for E.g the panzer 4 H has only 50mm frontal turret where as its frontal hull has 80, just remember to not overthink it though as it shoudn’t really matter because heroes and generals isn’t very advanced with tank mechanics. Use AP shells for this and if you can or have already got APCR shells replace AP shells with them. Remember that you want to use your MGS for infantry and your cannon for tanks but if you have got HE shells then you can use your cannon to kill infantry. The best combo of shells you can get is APCR and HE shells. I could bother to tell you what they mean but I think you should already know from light tank divisions. Remember after killing a tank change positions because he will come back hunting for you. That doesn’t mean go across the whole map but just move to another good spot that’s not too far away.
Gun sight’s and protection
if your tank took a hit but your out of combat due to you either escaping or killing whatever caused the damage go to a place with cover or just back to your team and repair your tank. Also remember that if your about to be engaged make sure your not exposing your rear to whatever is shooting at you – likely a tank. If while your in a position and you hear an enemy vehicle that sounded very close get out of there because it’s likely an anti tank soldier whose found you and you have to go quick before he blows up your tank. Now if you see an enemy far away you will need to adjust your sights which you press space and magic, the sights are adjusted. I honestly think it’s too easy to do that and you should have to manually do it but it is just a game. If that enemy is moving you will probably need to lead the target e.g there’s an enemy tank about 400 meters away moving at full speed sideways from my direction I will first adjust the sights then I move the crosshair a bit infront of the tank and I shoot and by the time the shell reaches that spot the enemy tank is now there and probably its side or rear gets hit.
T-34/85 and conclusion
The T-34/85 tank is pretty much a better version of the 76. 76 is still a great great tank but the 85 is better at the cost of more money for repairs. If your’e not doing very good with the 76 then do not upgrade to the 85 because it’s just going to make it worse due to more cost. but if your doing well with the 76 you can either keep playing with it which is just fine or buy the 85. I use the 85 because of what I just said there. Alot of people say you should not get the 85 because it’s actually worse then the 76 because it’s got no apcr shells, but the AP shells on the 85 are better then apcr shells on the 76 because the 85 has a bigger barrel that makes the AP shell on the 85 more damaging then the apcr on the 76. Also better armour however a little bigger profile then the 76, but it’s overall better. Now conclusion, I coudn’t say all my tips about the T-34s because it would take wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long but these will help if your new. Thank you alot for reading this and feel free to ask questions and extra things. If anyone knows how the T-34 sights work feel free to ask, thanks.
