Overview
A guide on how to build my T5 Hybrid Flier. (Tier 6 Required). If you like this please give me a Thumbs Up! 🙂
Overview
So, what is this ‘Dragonfly’?
Long story short – I named this design the dragonfly beacuse it flies like one (and its a cool name).
The Dragonfly is a quick, easily manouverable flyer hybrid.
(For those who dont know what it means, Hybrid means a combination of two different things)
This robot has been specially designed to be able to fly over to a teammate, land next to them and heal them. It isnt really a fighting robot.
I came up with this idea when I realized how difficult it can be to quickly get from one player to another (who is on the other side of the map) without them dying.
Think you’re ready to make it? Read on…
Requirements
Here is a list of what you will need:
Robocraft!
[CPU] 257 pFlops
[RoboPoints] 81,600RP
(1x) [Tier 1] Pilot Seat
(2x) [Tier 1] Wheel Steering
(2x) [Tier 1] Wheel
(17x) [Tier 6] Armored Cube
(4x) [Tier 6] Rudder
(2x) [Tier 6] Thruster
(2x) [Tier 6] Nanotech Disruptor
For those who would rather look at a picture… I dont blame you! Here you go:
Please note – These are the requirements of my specific design, you can alter whatever you like, want Tier 1 cubes instead? Go ahead!
Construction – The Chassis
Lets get to the build!
Ok, so here is the basic layout of the robot. You will be using all of your T6 Armor Cubes.
To save you from counting, it is 9 blocks along.
After that, we need to add the rest of the armor blocks:
Construction – The Wheels
You got your Tier 1 wheels? If not, you should have because they’re free….
Ok, first the Steering Wheels, these go at the front, as shown here:
And then the other wheels (The ones that dont turn). These ones go at the back.
And please, remember that the wheels have to go BOTH sides of the chassis!
Construction – Thrusters, Firepower and Wings (Oh, and the seat, We need that…)
Ok, now we’re getting serious. First off our Tier 6 Thrusters. You can use lower tier thrusters but consider the power required, changing it probably will affect the way of flight.
So, put the two thrusters as shown here:
Now the weapons, as this is a medical based flier, i have used nano disruptors. You can change this if you want… However you want.
I seriously suggest mounting the weapons how i did here though… This gives you that extra little bit of balance…. Which you actually need.
The wings… At the back and at the front. The front ones have to be backwards.
Sound confusing? Here you go…
At the back…
And at the front…
What use is a robot without a pilot seat? hm, that doesnt sound right…
I suggest putting it 2 blocks from the back, like so:
There you have it! But do read on – you might find it useful.
Extra! Extra! (Components)
This bit isnt a news article, it just sounds right to put extra, extra! 🙂
You can add as much random crap onto the robot as you like. Just keep in mind the CPU usage and balance of your robot.
If you were to add one thing, i seriously recommend putting some reverse thrusters to help slow you down when landing.
You could add radars, jammers etc. But i chose not to. Remember, this is only a template – the sky is the limit…. well in this case, the ceiling of your mothership.
Read on to find out a good way to use this robot.
Usage of the robot
If you’re looking at this part of the guide then you’ve made the robot, but you cant use it. Am I correct? 😉
This robot is not designed to go into the heat of battle, therefore I present these useful notes:
- When the battle starts, dont fly straight up…
- Instead of going into your opponents view, stay low.
- Stick around teammates, they are the ones who can defend you, and you can heal them. Thats probably the easiest way to get points.
- When going into the air, try to stay in cover as much as possible.
- It is quite epic when you fly up to heal a teammate flier, just be careful of Anti Air Gunners and other bombers.
- Dont be a little barstard… Help your teammates! (If somebody asks for a medic, tell them you can get them, find out where they are and go there).
Thats about it…. If I remember something I will add to this list.
Oh, one more thing………
Epic Screenshots!
Here are some screenshots of my own.
If you would like me to put a screenshot that you have made, let me know!
Thats about it! If you like this guide please leave a ‘Thumbs Up’. If you have any questions leave them in the comments section. Also, i do not handle criticism well, try and use constructive criticism if you must.
