The Big Anomaly Guide

Overview

The guide of anomailes in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of PripyatI will be updating this guide from time to time so dont expect it to be full of information and the information could be wrong.I respect all the information you guys may give me. And i am sorry for the low detail ingame pictures my video card is currently not the best I can have. All the information, pictures are fom the stalker wikia and my personal experiences+screenshots.

Anomalies

Anomalies are a well known energy phenomenon located in The Zone. They spawn artefacts, deal damage and are annoying. They are the best source of cash. I recomend the svarog detector which will show any static anomaly. Use bolts to trigger an anomaly.

Flame-based anomalies:
Burner
Comet

Gravity-based anomalies:
Vortex
Springboard
Whirligig

Chemical-based anomalies:
Fruit Punch
Burnt Fuzz
Gas
Gas Cloud

Electricity-based anomalies:
Electro
Tesla

Reality-altering anomalies
Space Anomaly
Teleport

Global anomalies:
Emission
Radiation

Multiple-hazard anomalies:
Fault
Symbiont

List of Anomalies removed from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series
Lift
Time
Fog
Rusty hair

NOTE that this guide only talks about anomalies n Call of Pripyat so anomalies like Symbiont wont be discussed.

Whirligig

Whirligig
This anomaly is a annoying anomaly because if your sprinting trough the zone like i do you will likely run into one of them. Luckily, this anomaly is rare in Cop. It can only be found on The bridge in Zaton, Bitumen anomaly in Yanov and the school in Pripyat.
If you manage to get stuck in one of these anomalies just try to sprint back where you came from and spam medkits, you will get out eventually.
Artifacts: Stone Blood, Meat Chunk, Soul

Springboard

This one is kinda like the whirligig but it has its deferences.
It send out a shockwae that will likely kill mutants but if your well armed it just deals big damage.
Throwing a bolt into a Springboard causes it to send out its distinctive shockwave, making it easily identifiable. It can be found in Zaton on the bridge and in the Bitumen+Claw anomaly. It can be avoided when the player triggers it cus it will do something that is like charging so you can run away.
Artefacts:Jellyfish, Night Star, Stone Flower.
This is either vortex or springboard, cant really tell the difference.

Vortex

Another gravitational one. Like all the others this is annoying as ♥♥♥♥ too.It almost like the Whirligig but it is bigger and stronger. The Vortex has a much larger range, much harder to escape from than a Whirligig, and it deals a lot more damage. Here is a nice tactic to escape stole right from the STALKER wiki. “A Simple tactic for escaping Vortexes requires timing, jumping and stamina. the effect makes the player wobble like a ‘rubber-band’ effect before the anomaly does damage. A player with good enough timing can jump at just the right moment, right at the edge of the band effect, (right when it boings you away from its epicenter). At the edge, a very fast sprint and a jump can get you out of there fast enough to escape.” You should know that this anomaly spawns one of the most useful artefacts, the goldfish which lets you carry +12 kg of weight.
Artefacts:Wrenched, Gravi, Goldfish

Emission

This is not realy an anomaly but it is still an enviromental hazard. Emissions are deadly amounts of energy. Emission are not so rare (dont know who said this i have only encountered 2 emissions in my gametime) so get prepared. If you are going on a long trip stay around shelters and/or get anabiotics. These pills let you survive an emission without cover and if you use them 3 times to survive emissions you will no longer need to use them BUT you black out during an emission and loose almost all of your health so this is not really recomended. Spotting emissions is quite easy, first of all when the skies become dark in like 5 seconds and alarms start going off you know you need to do something.
Artefacts: Emissions dont produce artefacts but they respawn them and chage the position of anomalies.
Skies turn red during emissions this looks really cool in my opinion.

Skies look beautiful after one emission.

Electro

An electric anomaly that could be annoying but not as badly as gravitational ones.Electro is a common anomaly in Call of Pripyat, and can be found in all of the main areas of the game. It can be found in the following locations: Iron Forest Anomaly, Scar Anomaly, Parking Lot Anomaly, Jupiter Warehouse, North-western Tunnel, ‘Jubilee’ Service Centre, Old Service Centre and lastly Lab X-8.
It will be activated by bolts so get one ready when your screen get brownish grainy. You can run past this anomaly if you trhow a bolt into it.
Artefacts:Battery, Shell, Snowflake, Sparkler, Flash, Moonlight

This is how your vision looks.

Not hard to see when activated.

Looks dangerous.

    Tesla

The Tesla anomaly functions much like an Electro anomaly and deals electric damage, the only difference is that the tesla moves at a rapid pace and is very powerful. It can kill a player who does not have maxed out SEVA with electric protection so watch out. When a tesla anomaly is approaching the player it will not attack the player, when the player is moving very slowly. (Like the burnt fuzz) If the player is moving rapidly it will hurt the player. Luckily there is only 2 of them. One in X-8 and one on the train car in Yanov where the basic tools are.
    It has no artefacts.

    Gas

“Strange chemical processes go non-stop in this anomaly. They result in acid which eats away skin and toxic gas which devours lungs equally well… The good thing is, that the anomaly is easy to spot in the open air… It is less pleasant to unexpectedly discover it in a dark tunnel.” Gas is a chemical anomaly. It is not to be confused with Fruit Punch, due to the fact it behaves more like a gas rather than a liquid, as fruit punch does. It does kinda low damage to you but does high damge to armor so use a suit with high durability+chem. protection. You can find it in the quarry, the swamp, plavni anomaly and the oakpine anomaly.
Artefacts: Stone Blood, Meat Chunk, Soul, Kolobok(it has one spawn and you can only pick one up, if you want more buy it from beard.) Firefly, Bubble

You can see the vision and how close are the anomalies to each other.

    Fruit Punch

Chemical anomaly, deals high damage. Unlike in Cs and Soc it is not very common. One is to be found in the Volkhov AA Complex just beneath feet in a ventilation shaft. And in the Department Store Basement some Fruit Punch and Gas anomalies can be observed. It has no artefacts, not a big deal.

Not hard to spot in the dark.

and is quite easy to spot in the light.

    Gas Cloud

This anomaly is a chemichal one. It deals massive damage even if you have the best armor with artefacts. Luckily only one is found wich is floating above the Vine Anomaly in Pripyat. It does not spawn any artefacts

    Radiation

Yea of course, it is not an anomaly but it is not an artefact or an npc either. It is not hard to spot because of the effect it has when you go near a hotspot and hear ticking of the geiger counter. Not really hard to find. You will ikely run into it in anomalies and next to cars. Take anti-rads or the good ol’ cheap vodka.
    No artefacts.

    Not hard to spot.

A little fact stole from my source of information, the STALKER wikia.

“Amazingly, in the real world, nature seems to have adapted to radiation to some degree and has made it a friend rather than enemy. An example of this is the Radiotrophic fungus which was found on CNPP reactor’s wall.”

    Burnt Fuzz

Not deadly hanging moss or nice cosmetic effect. NO! It is one of the more dangerous anomalies. It can be found hanging from stuff like the ceiling in the Jupiter Plant. It has no artefacts and bolts wont trigger it. If you manage to walk into one it will likely take away 1/4 of your health.

    A typical Burnt Fuzz

    Burner

A heat based anomaly that is not very hard to find. It is very easy because of the effect it does when you get close to one. These kind of anomalies are found in tight clusters so it is advised to have a svarog detector. Unlike the last 2 or 3 anomalies this one does spawn artefacts. It can be foud in the circus anomaly, Boiler anomaly, Burnt Farmstead, Volcano, Ash Heap.
Artefacts: Mama’s Beads, Fireball, Eye, Crystal, Flame

Not hard to notice when your close to one is it?

    Very hot.

    Comet

Not much to say, it is like the tesla but it is fire instead of electricity. The comet anomaly, unlike the burner, is very powerful and could kill even a well-protected stalker if one gets directly hit by it. It has no artefacts.Comets are found in Zaton and Pripyat. The first two are orbiting around the Circus anomaly field and the last two are in the Burnt farmstead underground. The fifth comet is located in the upper level of the Department Store Basement .

    The circus anomaly.

    Close up

    Space Anomaly

Attention. We are stuck in an anomaly….can’t get out……it’s like space is warped……which ever way we go…can’t move…equipment has gone off the rails….can see the outline of a town on the horizon…our coordinates…51…10..3..1..2….Is anybody out there…? …find a way out, help! We’re running low on… The space anomaly or space bubble is a kinda harmless anomaly. I mean it is harmless to you but not characters from the story. The first place it can be encountered is nearby Burnt Farmstead on the verge of a cliff, during Getting to the Plateau mission when Noah presents the only route to the Plateau where Stingray 3 crashed. The other one is at the cooling tower. It has a sidequest related to it.It works as a teleport, it presumably spawns the compass(you cant find a compass anywhhere near them tough)
