The Complete Guide to the Stanley Parable
Just give me some Hints!
Right, you dont enjoy spoilers as much as I do.
Good, but sharing a hint isnt a spoiler is it?
Well Ill share some HInts then.
- Try not to follow the narrator’s directions.
- Try waiting around and walking back.
- Check all office inventory, doors and dark corners.
Below from here is where the spoiling begins!

How to Guide – Guide
Here is how to use the guide below…
But you are an intelligent fellow? Im sure you dont really need this section.
But we had quite the discussion on how to break down the game most easily, we decided on these definitions….
- We have defined “Endings” as any happening that causes game standstill, restart or death.
- We have defined “Event” as any happening that causes change, but no Ending.
- We have defined “Secret” as any happening that can be discovered by a complicated range of actions.
- We have defined “Easter Eggs” as any happening that can be discovered that has origin in other games
The Freedom Ending
The Freedom Ending is experienced if you follow the narrators instructions and is usually the first Ending experienced, Thank God that Im here if you cant figure this one out!
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the left.
- Cross the Meeting-room.
- Take the stairs up to the Boss’s office.
- Enter the Boss’s office.
- Go to Secret Elevator
- Enter “Mind Control Facility”
- Press Light button, press Monitor button, press Lift button.
- Take lift.
- Cross Countdown room, and enter Facility Power Room.
- Approach the System Power Panel.
- Press the OFF button.
- When door is open, go outside and enjoy freedom.
The Countdown Ending
The Countdown Ending is experienced if Stanley attempts to gain control of the Mind Control Facility by pressing the ON button, just before the end of The Freedom Ending.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the left.
- Cross the Meeting-room
- Take the stairs up to the Boss’s office
- Enter the Boss’s office.
- Go to Secret Elevator
- Enter “Mind Control Facility”
- Press Light button, press Monitor button, press Lift button.
- Take lift.
- Cross Countdown room, and enter Facility Power Room.
- Approach the System Power Panel.
- Press the ON button.
- Allow the Countdown to reach 00:00:00.
- Explode!
The Escape Ending
The Escape ending is experienced by going down the escape path instead of entering the Mind Control Facility.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the left.
- Cross the Meeting-room
- Take the stairs up to the Boss’s office
- Enter the Boss’s office.
- Go to Secret Elevator
- Take the Escape Path
- Fall down the hole at the end.
- Wait as the Female Narrator saves your life.
- Explore the museum.
- At the end of the museum, you will find a switch.
- Die and restart the game.
The Madness Ending
Also known as Crazy Ending.
To experience the Madness Ending you have to take the stairs down right after crossing the Meeting-room.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the left.
- Cross the Meeting-room.
- Take the stairs down to the basement.
- The Madness graps your mind.
- Scare a woman on the streets.
The Confusion Ending
The Confusion Ending is experienced by taking the elevator down in the room that leads to the Meeting-room after crossing the Lounge.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the right.
- Cross the lounge.
- Take the door on your left that takes you back to the normal path.
- Take the elevator down.
- Follow the narrator’s directions and end up in the Mind Control Facility.
- Narrator will restart the game.
- Enjoy the game restarts, the Adventure Line and the Confusion Ending.
The Cold Feet Ending
To experience the Stanley’s Wife Ending you have to get on the crane and then get off the crane before it takes off.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the right.
- Cross the lounge.
- Take the door on your left that takes you back to the normal path.
- Continue down the corridor and enter the Storage Facility.
- Get on the crane platform, but get off it before it takes off.
- Enjoy getting stuck.
Stanley’s Wife Ending
Also known as Apartment Life or Sad Life Ending.
To experience the Stanley’s Wife Ending you have to get on the crane and follow the path and pick up the phone.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the right.
- Cross the lounge.
- Take the door on your left that takes you back to the normal path.
- Continue down the corridor and enter the Storage Facility.
- Get on the crane platform and stay on it.
- Continue on through the door and corridors.
- Pick up the phone.
- Meet your loving wife.
- Live your sad life.
- Die.
The Corrupted Game Ending
Also known as “Out of body” or the True Ending
To experience The Corrupted Game Ending you have to get on the crane and follow the path and then unpluck the phone instead of picking it up.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the right.
- Cross the lounge.
- Take the door on your left that takes you back to the normal path.
- Continue down the corridor and enter the Storage Facility.
- Get on the crane platform and stay on it.
- Continue on through the door and corridors.
- Unpluck the Phone from the wall.
- Enjoy your lecture on choice.
- Follow the narrator back to the two doors.
- Enter the left and see the green Boss’s Office.
- Enter the right door and see the corruption.
- Go back and enter the left.
- The Narrator restarts the game, the world is now fully corrupted.
- Restart again, and observe the game without you.
- Roll Credits.
The Escape Pod Ending
The Escape Pod Ending is experienced by walking out of the Boss’s office before the doors close behind you and walking all the way back to Stanley’s office to find the next door is now open.
- Take door on the left
- Cross the Meeting-room
- Take the stairs up to the Boss’s office.
- When you Enter the Boss’s office.
- Quickly exit the room before the doors close behind you.
- Walk all the way to Stanley’s office.
- Its possible to lock doors and trap yourself. Be careful.
- Take the door next to Stanley’s office, that is now open.
- Walk up the stairs.
- Enter escape pod and blast away.
The Happiness or Suicide Ending
To experience the Happiness or Suicide Ending you have jump off the crane in the Storage Facility, land on the catwalk and pick the red door later.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the right.
- Cross the lounge.
- Take the door on your left that takes you back to the normal path.
- Continue down the corridor and enter the Storage Facility.
- Get on the crane platform.
- Jump off the crane platform and land on the catwalk below.
- Follow the corridors and stairs.
- Take the Red Door and the next door too.
- Enjoy the Happiness Room forever.
- or exit the Happiness Room and go to the Suicide Room….
- Get up the stairs and throw yourself off them until you die.
The Game Design Ending
Also known as: Baby Game / “Lets play someone else’s game” / Minecraft / Portal Ending
To experience the Game Design Ending you have jump off the crane in the Storage Facility, land on the catwalk and pick the blue door 3 times later.
- Step out of the Stanley’s office.
- Make your way through the office.
- Take door on the right.
- Cross the lounge.
- Take the door on your left that takes you back to the normal path.
- Continue down the corridor and enter the Storage Facility.
- Get on the crane platform.
- Jump off the crane platform and land on the catwalk below.
- Follow the corridors and stairs.
- Take the Blue Door 3 times, Look behind you the 3rd time.
- Enjoy the fantastic world Game Design Testing
- It is possible to play the Baby Game for 4 hours and become God.
- Enjoy playing Minecraft.
- Enjoy playing Portal.
- It may be possible to lose your cube and get stuck in the first test chamber.
- Enjoy finding the Old Stanley Parable.
Button Heaven Ending
To experience the Button Heaven Ending you have to check the computers in the offices you pass through and click the ones that say “Awaiting Imput” until Stanley’s computer say the same.
- The first input computer is in the first office, against the back wall near the door.
- The second one is in the back corner of the second office, to the left of the door.
- The third one is the Boss’ Secretary’s computer, just outside of his office.
- The fourth one is against the left wall in the first office. You might need to climb onto the desk for this one to register.
- The fifth and final one is always Stanley’s computer.
- Enjoy pushing buttons.
The Coward Ending
The Coward Ending is experienced when you close the door to your office and prevents you from having a story.
- When you start a new game…
- Close the door to your office.
The Serious Room Ending
To experience
- Exit the game and go to your Steam Library.
- Right click The Stanley Parable, Click Launch Options.
- Type in “-console”
- Start the game up again, you will see the console panel.
- (You may need to edit the console key, if you dont own a American keyboard)
- Enter the game.
- Bring the console back up and type in “sv_cheats 1”
- Recieve scolding for cheating! YOU EVIL MONSTER!
- Do it many times for extra scolding!
The Map Glitch Ending
To experience the Map Glitch Ending, get on 434’s office table, crouch down and jump until you can squeeze over the table and crawl through the window.
- Get onto 434’s chair.
- Crouch down (CTRL) and crawl over the desk
- Crawl out the window.
- Enjoy the Narrator’s narration and stay there forever.
Achievements
These are the achievements and how to get them in The Stanley Parable.
Beat the game
Get the Freedom Ending.
Click on door 430 five times.
Exactly as the title says. Door 430 should be to your right as you leave Stanley’s office. After clicking it five times, the Narrator will make you run around and click on other stuff as well, so be prepared to run around the first two rooms of the office!
Achievement
Enable “Achievement” in the Options menu.
8888888888888888
When you reach the Boss’s keypad, type in the code “8888” twice in a row.
Welcome back!
Open the game, close it, then open it again.
Speed run
This one is a bit tricky. First, you’ll want to play the game on the normal path a few times in the row, until the narrator starts opening the boss door for you before you even enter the room. Afterwards, click “Begin the game again” until you start out with a small corridor that leads directly to the first two-door choice, then quickly speed directly through and get the Freedom Ending.
You can’t jump
Press the space bar a lot of times (somewhere between 20 and 50)
Go outside
Quit the game, change your clock to be 5 or more years in the future, then open it up again. Alternatively, you can actually go 5 years without opening the game, then open it again…
Commitment
Open the game on Monday and leave it running until Wednesday. At the time of writing this guide, there have been no Tuesdays since The Stanley Parable has been released, so nobody knows the exact conditions.
Unachievable
Nobody knows how to get this one yet. The only people who have achieved it either don’t know how they got it or won’t tell how. If you know, please tell us!
Events
Here is a list of Events that might happen to you during play.
- Paper Everywhere
- Stanley’s Wife calls
- Future Happiness Foundation Order calls and boxes everywhere!
- Phone call recorded message about the danger of recorded messages.
- The Blue Corridor
- The Blue Office
- Its rainning outside, special sound near windows.
- The computers in the office says, “The end is never the end is never the end…..”
- Its possible to see another employee through the office windows sometimes.
Fun Things To Do
Here is a list of easy things to do in the Stanley Parable for your own amusement.
These may or may not happen appearantly randomly.
- Visiting the Lounge
- You will find the Lounge, when you take the right door after navigating the offices.
- Try staying in the Lounge for a long time.
- Enjoy the narrator’s reaction.
Visit the Broom Closet
- You will find the Broom Closet after crossing the Meeting-room after taking the left door.
- Try staying in the Broom Closet for a long time.
- Enjoy the narrator’s bewilderment with you.
- Come back to the Broom Closet many times, until the narrator boards it up.
Visiting the Executive Bathroom
- You will find the Executive Bathroom on the Boss’s Floor, turn left as you enter.
- Enter the door with the golden sign on it.
- Enjoy a wide range of Boss Poems each time you visit.
Visiting the Executive Elevator
- You will find the Executive Bathroom on the Boss’s Floor, turn right as you enter.
- Open the double doors across from the open Boss’s office doors.
- Enter the elevator found in that room.
- Enjoy the best music ever.
Use the old Code in the Boss’s office.
- It is possible to enter the old code “1947” into the keypad in the boss’s office.
- This will trigger the narrator, but nothing will happen.
- You can enter the old code “1947” again, to open the door.
- You can also proceed by entering the new correct password.
Secrets
Here is a list of complicated things to do in the Stanley Parable for your own amusement.
- The Best Secret in The Stanley Parable
- When you enter the Mind Control Facility, press the 3 buttons, but dont take the lift.
- Wait a few moments. The gates will open, Go back and press the Light button again.
- Enjoy!
The Whiteboard Ending
- Sometimes by random chance or after completing the Game Design Ending.
- You will start the game with Stanley’s office connecting to a blue office.
- In this room find the door 426 and find the Whiteboard Ending.
- Enjoy the Secret Console code for fun. Write in console “bark”
Employee of the Year
- You can reveal the Employee of the Year picture, but pressing the pictures in the office.
- Sooner or later, he will reveal his grin.
FACEPUNCH!
- If you type in “facepunch” on your keyboard during play, almost all textures will turn.
Secret Console Codes
- Exit the game and go to your Steam Library.
- Right click The Stanley Parable, Click Launch Options.
- Type in “-console”
- Start the game up again, you will see the console panel.
- (You may need to edit the console key, if you dont own a American keyboard)
- Enter the game.
- Bring the console back up and type in….
- bark – Woof Woof Woof.
- hideous – brings up the Team Fortress 2 wiki Hideous, the developers, worked on TF2.
- raphael – causes the narrator only to say “Stanley” over and over again.
- imabird – causes Stanley to float like in the Madness Ending.
Easter Eggs
Here are the Easter Eggs in game, refrences to other popular games.
- Mask from Payday
- During the Confusion Ending, when you follow the Adventure Line™
- At some point when the Line go zigzag alot, there might also be music on.
- Follow the path leading away from the Adventure Line™ and it will be on the floor.
Minecraft and Portal Game
- These two Easter Eggs are part of the Game Design Ending.
Gone Home
- Right before the Madness Ending, at the bottom under the stairs.
- There is a note from the game Gone Home.
Papers Please
- In the hallway right before the Red and Blue Door room, leading to the Game Design Ending.
- There will be papers on the ground, these papers are from the game Papers Please.
Analogue: A Hate Story
- You can find a diary entry on 423’s desk.
- This is from the game Analogue: A Hate Story.
Ittle Dew
- During the Happiness or Suicide Ending, in the Suicide Room there is a crayon drawing.
- This crayon drawing is from the game Ittle Dew.
