Overview
This guide describes the symbols found on the dice within Armello and their Game Effects.
The Symbols of Armello
The Armellian dice have been a part of Armello’s culture for as far back as anyone can remember. The dice, covered in the symbols known simply as ‘The Six’, are used as a measure for divination, adjudication, magic practices and more commonly, games and gambling. Many Armellians possess a set of these dice and will carry them with them wherever they go.
The universe of Armello is governed by raw natural elements of opposites and cycles; Moon & Sun, Sword & Shield, Worm & Wyld. These symbols adorn the Armellian dice on its opposing faces. Each Card in Armello also has one of ‘The Six’ symbols in its top right hand. The Rolling Dice section below describes each of the Symbols and their effect.
Dice are used for resolving Combat and when facing Perils.
The Dice and Symbols of Armello
- A moon symbol at Night is considered a successful roll, or a miss during the day.
- A sun symbol rolled during the day is considered a successful roll, or a miss at night.
- A shield symbol will block a singular hit from an opponent hit, saving your hide.
- A sword symbol is always a successful roll, and (if not blocked) will hit and injure your opponent in combat.
- A wyld symbol is a lucky sign – it counts as a successful roll and ‘explodes’ with an extra dice roll!
- Wyld’s will continue to explode (i.e. another die is rolled) for as long as the Wyld is rolled.
- If your character becomes Corrupted (See the Rot section for more information on this) then the behavior of Wyld and Rot (Worm) dice change. That is Wyld dice become failures and Rot dice become successes that explode.
- A worm symbol is a failed roll, but under certain dark influences this symbol of misfortune can become an ominous boon.
- If your character becomes Corrupted (See the Rot section for more information on this) then the behavior of Wyld and Rot (Worm) dice change. That is Wyld dice become failures and Rot dice become successes that explode.
