Overview
This was is a “living” guide for the Harran Egg Hunt and Follow The Rabbit 20182019 events. “Living” guide means that I wrote and updated it as much as possible to keep the information up to date and useful including player and community contributions. Since the events have since ended, so has the support for this version of the guide. However if, in the future, Techland starts a similar Easter since Techland has restarted this event this guide will be is now resurrected to continue to provide its services to you all. This is the information that was contained in the guide as it was pertinent during the event…
Foreword/Preface (Read this first – seriously)
There have been major changes to this year’s events that concern the nature of this preface so please move to the changes section either before or after reading this preface to understand those differences. They do change the priorities of the events/quests and their player schedules/selections.
Just to let everyone know, if you’re intending on getting the Chicken Ninja suit, do NOT follow/track the community event when prompted! I did this, got my 27th egg and realized that it wasn’t glitched, but wasn’t actually counting my collected eggs to my bounty. It’s declared in the fine print, but I overlooked it or read it incorrectly or something, but I know I’m not going to be the only one that does so. Ergo, I’m updating this guide with a foreword so that anyone that stumbles onto the guide prior to starting the bounty or during can get a head’s up.
So if you see the prompt below, don’t track it until you’re done collecting for the bounty
On a related note, make sure that you also have the correct quest selected in your quest log as well if you’re unsure which one you’re currently working on. If you’re grinding for the Chicken Ninja Suit, make sure you have “Follow The Rabbit,” selected under bounties. The bounty itself is activated at a bounty board at any safehouse so if you haven’t picked it up there first, you’re not working towards the Chicken Ninja outfit. The bounty board is a dart board, so any safehouse with a dart board will let you pick up the bounty quest. Although the on screen text is vastly different between the community goal and the bounty, if you want to be sure, I’ve included that image as well:
Where to look!?!
Your very first question is likely, “Okay Sliver, where the Hell do I look for the eggs and Easter Bunny?” Well, all of the rabbits and eggs I’ve found have been in The Slums so I know that they’re there for sure. However, that’s not to say that they’re not in Old Town or in The Countryside because I just haven’t looked there yet.
So, my advice as of now, look in The Slums.
There are now more, unconfirmed, reports that The Slums are the only place the event is taking place. Which makes sense for those folks that just bought the game recently and aren’t leveled or have the DLC’s. So, I think it’s fair to say that the event will only occur in The Slums.
It is now confirmed that Old Town also has the event going on there as well. So, you can find both the rabbits and their eggs in both:
The Slums
Old Town
However, it is also confirmed that The Countryside does NOT have the event going on there. So no, unfortunately, no eggs hiding in the tops of water towers and the like.
The Ea’z’ter Bunny
So first off, if you’re like me you wanna know exactly what this damn “Zombified Easter Bunny,” looks like right? If you’ve done any research thus far you know that he’s smaller than a normal zombie, dressed in white and nearly Bolter fast. But, he also wears pink gloves, pink boots, sports a pink collar, and has a pink…let’s just call it a “Alice pack,”…strapped to his back waistline (resembling a puffy, pink, rabbit cotton tail).
Here’s a pic of him:
This little twerp is very fast and as you may have read so far, camoflauge is definitely very helpful. So, grab your crossbow (or most damaging ranged weapon – preferably with a silencer if it’s a firearm) and in the spirit of Elmar Fudd, “Let’s go huntin’ rabbit!”
I’ve spotted the Eazter Bunny in a few spots, but it’s usually in areas where there’s a lot of zed spawnings. So places like the Infamy Bridge, The Stuffed Turtle Supermarket, and the Harranerji Power Plant are good places to start; sometimes the rabbit is in the midst of the horde, sometimes just outside of it. I have ran across a rabbit in the middle of some buildings, but I wouldnt’ count on it at all; go to places where hordes spawn. Be careful when approaching these areas because if the rabbit sees you, he runs with nearly the speed of a Bolter and it can very difficult catching it. Plus, he runs with the skills of a viral and will often rush into a horde group to blend in. If he does run, shoot him. I found one on the Infamy Bridge, but he wasn’t in the thick horde areas, he was near the tunnel entrances at the end of the bridge so again be very careful approaching these areas.
Thanks to “Baron iGnome” for the correction of the rabbit’s speed. (Changes made)
If you think there may be a rabbit in the area, kill a random zombie nearby and smear his guts on you and camoflauge out so that you can get up close to the rabbit. Take note: Silent Takedowns such as snapping the neck do NOT work on the rabbit!!! You have to melee or shoot him down. Also be aware that if he does run from you, he runs while crouched so he can be very hard to hit.
This is a pic of him crouched, just imagine having to chase him squatted like this and shooting him at the same time:
Just take him down, search his body like you would any other zombie, and you’ll get a little loot (cash usually) and an egg.
I noticed this happened to me twice before writing the guide, but honestly I just chucked it off to an “isolated incident” or random glitch. However, gamer “ᵀᴼᴳ Draadnor ᴬᵁ” has also confirmed for me that if you shoot at the rabbit from afar, you can kill him, you can watch him fall, but when you arrive at where his corpse should be, he’s disappeared. Perhaps, gone down through the rabbit hole? Either way, be sure to not be too far that you waste the ammo/arrows when shooting the rabbit. Basically, you have to be just almost close enough for him to run, but not too close that he does run if you want to shoot him without wearing camoflauge. So, keep that in mind when hunting!
Well everyone, the rabbit has been confirmed to be in Old Town by our fellow gamers, “Chuckie ✠” and “megasphere.” Looks like if you’re there and want to go Eazter Hunting you can do so without having to go back to The Slums, which is nicely convenient for those of us still following, “Knowing Your Enemy.” Lol.
Here’s a confirmation image from “Chuckie ✠” of the rabbit in Old Town:
Thanks megasphere and Chuckie ✠ for the contributions/images!!!
Eazter Eggz…
Okay so, now you know what the Eazter Bunny looks like, what about Eazter Eggz huh? Well, like I said in the guide description, I’ve actually found about 3 – 4 times more eggz in loot locations than I have on the rabbit. But, it’s not as much fun finding eggz in my opinion as it is hunting the rabbit. Plus with the rabbit you just look for hordes, approach cautiously, and you’ll likely get an egg. So, what’s the payoff? It’s easier hunting eggz than it is rabbits LOL. Firstly, there are several types of eggz; so far, I’ve come across: Knockout Egg, Frost Egg, Poison Egg, and Fire Egg. They look like painted grenades and are categorized as such in your inventory. I’ve arranged my inventory so that you can see the eggz clearly in the list (Fire egg not found at the time of screenshot taken – sorry).
So, what do each of these eggz look like? Well, you’re in luck, I’ve been taking pics just for you; aren’t you special? =)
Again, there could be more egg types, but I haven’t found them yet so the guide will update to include any new types I find. Now, as you might be asking, “Hmmm…they’re shaped like grenades, can you use them as grenades?” I’m actually fairly certain that you can, but I haven’t done it yet because I’m still trying to get the Chicken Suit. After I unlock it though, I’ll start tossing these around and seeing what they do. To which, the results, I’ll let ya know.
According to “Clyd3flow@s” throwing/using the eggz against enemies will not cost against your acquiring the Chicken Ninja suit (presumable ->)nor the community goal so feel free to find ’em and toss ’em! Teach that rabbit a lesson about leaving his stuff just everywhere for anyone to find and play with! LOL.
Now, another important question is, what kind of places can you find these eggs huh? Truth is, anywhere that’s not a trash can or bag that you can search for loot in. I’ll post the shots I have of all the different places I’ve found eggz so far.
Especially commercial refrigerators, they actually turned out to be quite the “hot spot” for them
Believe it or not, but I actually found 2 eggs in 2 of these cabinets at a time.
Although, I will say, I only found this ONE in an upper cabinet out of the 50+ I’ve found so far.
According to fellow gamer “castlecrasher” they have found eggz in Old Town. Unsurprisingly, they found the egg in a toolbox on a roof, so it doesn’t look like the spawning points are changing from section to section.
Moreover, gamer Chuckie ✠ also says that they have found eggz inside of Quarantine Zones. Apparently, “plenty” of eggz are in those creepy places; so if you want to find a nest of eggz, check out the interiors of the Quarantine Zones too!
Thanks for the additions guys!
Okay okay, now where on the bleeding map are they!?
Well, I’ve found them in various locations of the map, but they seem to be stacked pretty nicely in The Slums areas where there are a lot of houses and businesses. I’ve even been lucky enough to find 2 of them in the same multi-story homes, twice. Hell, I even found an egg above one of my safehouses on the 3rd floor. So, here are the map locations I’ve found the loot eggs (look for player/waypoint markers).
As far as the Eazter Bunny goes, I’ve found him near the Infamy Bridge and at the Stuffed Turtle Supermarket. I’m sure you can find the bridge pretty easily, but in case you’ve forgotten where the supermarket is here’s a screenshot of it. It’s also that place that has a loud speaker blaring on and on outside; just to refresh your memory if it’s been a while.
I should note that the Eazter Bunny near the Stuffed Turtle, I found in the parking lot/back alley of the supermarket, not inside the building. That’s not to say that there aren’t rabbits in the building as I have not checked inside, but the one I did find, and check for, was outside the building.
Okay SLIVER, now I have the eggz, what do I do now?
If NO
I have some unfortunate news for you; I tried to give a head’s up with the Foreword/Preface section of this guide, but it’s obvious that tracking the community event and completing the bounty are very easy to mix up. Unfortunately, for some reason, Techland has decided to NOT let the 2 overlap both ways.
See, you can get the 25 eggz for the “Follow The Rabbit,” bounty and once completed those eggz will count towards the Community Event, Harran Egg Hunt but gathering eggs for the community event will not count towards the bounty for the Chicken Ninja suit. Why did they set it up like this? I have no idea, but I wish they hadn’t…it’s going to cost someone not getting the suit when they have collected dozens or even hundreds of eggz.
So, if you didn’t, go back into your quest log and choose to track/complete “Follow The Rabbit,” bounty and recollect another 25 eggz.
If YES
Congratulations, you didn’t make the same mistake that I did! Now, you just have to go to a player stash at a safe house and the Cuck-a-doodle-do! outfit will now be available for Crane to wear. Then, switch to the community event so that you can get the participation points and get the Gold Tier Blueprint when the event concludes!
Good luck and Happy Eazter
That’s about all I got guys and gals! I’ll add more as I find more and please, feel absolutely free to comment below your locations and experience in finding these eggz, egg types, and rabbits!
Thanks for reading!
Thank you guys so much!
I just wanted to add a final farewell to everyone from the event this year and say, “Thank you for making this guide a success to so many and thanks for adding your contributions to it.” I’m going to leave it up in the circumstance that Techland does the same event next year, a guide will be there preemptively.
Thanks again everyone for your help and your support; unfortunately as I look through the comments and discussions by other people that did not see this guide or the YouTube videos shared in the community people collected dozens or hundreds of eggs and did not get the suit because of Techland’s inability or unwillingness to communicate effectively. So, if you didn’t get the suit and you’re only just now finding this guide, I’m sorry and I hope that if they do this event next year, you come here or to a YouTube tutorial first.
Anyways, it was fun guys, I’m glad I could be of some help and proud of everyone’s contributions and feedback! Keep it dead guys/gals!
~SLIVER
2019 Changes/Updates found so far
As far as I can tell the event seems to be a direct repeat of last year’s event with one, major change. I’ve only found about 10 eggs so far and I’ve found all of those on the rabbit itself which not only seem to be dressed the same as last year, but also in the same locations as last year and perhaps in even more locations this year. Moreover, I think the little bastard may actually be a little slower this year as I’ve been able to catch up to him on multiple occasions this year which I don’t remember being able to do last year.
The biggest and most notable change is definitely a good one. All eggs seem to count simultaneously for all events. That’s right, the big debacle of last year’s event where folks didn’t get their outfits just because they didn’t choose the right bounty, but had the egg count and then couldn’t find enough eggs in time has been rectified and made right. Now, you still have to choose each bounty individually to receive credit for that bounty of course. But let’s say you collect 100 eggs for the main, community event, but then realize that you haven’t redeemed eggs for the chicken suit or the gold tier weapon. It’s 10 eggs for the weapon, and another 30 eggs for the chicken suit, all you have to do is switch your active quest and the event considers the set of 10 and set of 30 eggs from your collected 100 total. So that way you won’t have to search out another 40 eggs to claim your rewards that you’re justly due.
It’s an obvious way to right the wrongs of last year, but at least they’re obviously listening. Now, if they’d only realize that their Battle Royale DLC should’ve been a game mode and not a separate purchase.
Have you found something else that I need to add? Comment below and let me know everyone and I’ll be sure to add it ASAP!
