The Far Cry 3 Ultimate Guide for Far Cry® 3

The Far Cry 3 Ultimate Guide

Overview

(Version 1.0.2) My Ultimate Guide for Far Cry 3, I have also written one on Far Cry 4!

Guide

This is the main body of the guide, this will have all of the information in it. Read the Welcome message first before reading please. Thanks! Now on to the guide:

Asian Black Bear

1. Get a Sniper Rifle and a Shotgun, it doesn’t really matter, but I used the automatically silenced sniper rifle you can’t get attachemtns for. It should be right below the SVD (It’s the M700 Predator). I used the 1887 for my shotgun since the two only differences between the two if the 1887 has better stats and you can get attachments for. I used the Extended Mags attachment with the 1887, but no attachment is needed though. Make sure to get Sniper Rifle and Shotgun ammunition too.

2. Head to a place with bears, but in my demonstration I will be using the area by Badtown. (Don’t worry, it’s not a bad town, it is like a safe house, gun store town, so you can get guns there for the hunting) (Go to the Amanaki Outpost and go right from on the map if you don’t know where it is from the beginning of the game and get all of the Radio Towers in that area, if you already did, great for you)

3. Go to the gun store in Badtown and if you haven’t bought the weapons, you can do it there.

4. When you leave the gun store, go out the side where they are people talking and the lake is there, not the river. Turn left when you get outside and you should see an exit. If you arrived in Badtown for the first time, you should have got a call fro ma man named Hugh. Go out to the field of where he is, and when you have exited the gun store, you should see a little barricade and a path going down the middle, walk down and to the field.

5. FInd a bear and do this. This is better if the bear is unaware, but you can do it if the bear is aware but it is harder, so you might want to do this first part crouching.

6. Get your sniper scope on the bear’s head and fire. He should get mad and run towards you. You can get out of crouching now. Pull out your shotgun and aim for the upper body, around the upper chest, neck, or head. You don’t need to aim in with your sights. Pull off 2 (Or more if you hit lower) shots and the bear should be dead so you got a kill. Repeat the process from step 5 to do multiple times.

7/Note: There are lions, tigers, boar, deer, and other animals on/around the field so be careful. Also there is a road nearby on the field next to the ruins in the middle of the field and enemy soldiers walk/drive by, so be careful of that too. This is the way I hunted my first Asian Black Bear. This might not be yours, but this is how I did it.

Bull Shark

1. Get any Sniper Rifle, Sniper Rifle ammunition, and a any boat you can “walk/move on”.

2. Go to a place that has Bull Sharks in it with the boat you got that you can “walk/move on”.

3. Once you find a bull shark, be precise and aim in with your Sniper Rifle.

4. Aim in to the chest, upper body, or head, but I hit the body when I did it.

5. Fire 2 shots at the body (That is how I did it) and kill it.

6. Jump into the water and skin it quickly before more sharks come.

7/Note: Make sure to watch out for other Bull Sharks and other dangerous underwater animals. That is how I did it. This might not be your way, but this is how I did it.

Tigers/Leopards/Lions/Boars

Tigers, Leopards. Lions, and Boars are all similar, they run at you, but Boars only do that if you attack them. Let’s use that to our advantage. You might remember hunting 2 Boars at the beginning of the game, but this is after that.

1. Get a Shotgun and Shotgun ammunition. For Boars also is recommended to get a pistol, the 1911, the starting pistol, is recommended along with pistol ammunition.

2. Go to a place that has Tigers, Leopards, and/or Boars.

Tigers/Leopards/Lions: When they run at you when you get close, shoot them with your shotgun at close range. Most of the time it will take 1 shot to kill at close range, and 2 if you had very bad luck with your first shot. It is rare for a Tiger/Leopard/Lion to take 2 shots at close range, so don’t worry that much having to take a back-up shot, at least if you are at least a little accurate. You don’t need to aim in with your shotgun either.

Boars: Shoot them once with your pistol then pull out your shotgun to finish them off. It is even more less likely that it will take a 2 shot shotgun kill. You don’t need need to worry about another bad-up shot, at least if you are a little accurate.

4/Note: This is my way to hunt Tigers/Leopards/Lions/Boars. It may not be yours, but htis is the way I do it. You don’t have to do it at all like my way, but it is recommended, especially if you don’t want to die.

Fast Traveling-In The Wild

There are many ways of transportation in the wild, like sprinting or running. In Far Cry 3, it gives us multiple choices to choose our transportation.

Cars: Cars are great land veichles for traveling in. If you stick by the roads, some cars will come and go every now and then, so plan like a trap. Say you stay in the middle of the road that is flat and snipe the driver out of the car and then deal with the other guy in the MG and take the car. This is one of the best ways of transportation.

Boats and Jet Skis: The second best at everything. Boats and Jet Skis are really good for water transportation, but not the best. But, if you can find one, use it, Boats are sort-of uncommon to find. Boats you can walk on are really good for hunting sharks for their skin for upgrades. If you could find a hang-glider, (Or later in the game, your Wingsuit) is probably the best for travel, not hunting in the water. DirtDiver, a really awesome person and guide maker, recommended to use a boat with an MG on it and kill the shark with the MG, dismount, skin the shark, and get back on your boat. It’s a pretty good idea and saves you some money over time.

Wingsuit and Hangglider: The Wingsuit and Hangglider are the best “Wild” transportation other than Fast Travel. You can fly very far and very high. If you do it right, you can be in the air for a very long time, but I’m not an expert at it. You unlock a free version later in the game known as the WIngsuit. It is similar but includes a parachute. The Hangglider is the best though other than one you land you can’t get back on it unless you find another hangglider.

How to do a 180 (Degree) Turn in a Car: When you find a car, get onto a decent road, not a small road, but a decent one, a usual road friendly/enemy cars drive on in the jungle or anywhere else. Get in the car and drive for a little until you hit about 50 MPH (Miles Per Hour) or more. When you are ready to do your 180 (Degree) Turn and still driving down a decent round at about 50 MPH+, press and hold the Space bar then turn the direction you can turn in. So far I have managed to do 180s but not at the speed to do a 360. It is definitely possible to do a 180 though.

Weaponry

M700 Predator: The Predator is an upgraded version of the M700, which this model includes a surpressor and other things unlike the M700, so this is worth it. Not only is this gun good against humans, but small-medium sized animals. It’s a bolt-action sniper rifle with a good potential to get a kill for you every time you pull the trigger. This is the second best sniper rifle in the game, as the first is the Z93, unlocked later in the game. This sniper rifle has a 5 round magazine too.

Z93: The Z93, it’s my personal favorite sniper rifle. Due to it’s extreme high power, it’s bolt-action and the bolt takes longer to pull than other sniper rifles, which could leave you vurnerable for a second. This sniper rifle makes up for that by having a 10 rounds magazine, along with the high power, it could hunt any animal you wanted it to. This weapon has attachments you can buy for money and equip too, which makes it even better.

SPAS-12: The SPAS-12 is an Italian modeled shotgun and is an all-around kind of gun. The SPAS-12 is a single-fire shotgun that makes it easier to hunt bears with unlike the other shotguns. This shotgun could also hunt any animal you could choose along with the choice of attachments you can buy and put on it. What is weird but helpful is you can get the Extended Mag attachment on here which brings your magazine size up from 8 to 11, which makes hunting easier. This shotgun is a single shell loaded shotgun. This is probably the best shotgun in the game.

MS16: The MS16 is a single-fire (Semi-Automatic) Assault Rifle that is great for long range. Due to 3 optic sights to choose from in the attachments, you can make it any style you want. This gun is better against humans than animals, and if you do hunt animals, it is only good for small, and some medium sized animals. This is a stealthy, stalkish weapon for marksmen. If that is your style, you would love this gun.

Bows (Recurve and Predator): The Bows are the best for hunting and shooting. They make no sound when you kill somebody and they will only detect you if you miss. You can stay undetected when you kill a guy with a bow and no enemy is looking at the person. The difference between the Recurve and the Predator is the Recurve has a faster firing rate but the Predator has a longer range, so for hunting, your best bet is the Predator, unless there is a lot of animals in a pack. This is a really good weapon, even in Multiplayer. The Recurve bow is the only bow in Singleplayer, but still use it, it is a mixture of both bows. It is a one hit kill from the lower chest up, or I guess you would say One-Hit-Kill. This is a really highly recommended gun to kill and hunt with. I would use it to your advantage if I were you.

BZ19: The BZ19 is an overall high performance sub-machine gun. It has a 64 round magazine and shoots 9mm (Pistol) ammo. It has no to little recoil so it is good for all distances. With high magazines and rate of fire not the highest in it’s class, you won’t need to reload much, at least if you don’t spray and pray. This gun is highly recommended for any skill level of player and can be a stealthy weapon or not.

Vector .45 ACP: The Vector .45 ACP is a really good sub-machine gun like the BZ19. With shooting .45 ACP rounds, the damage is higher than the BZ19’s. It has 30 rounds in a basic magazine and 40 with Extended Magazine. It has no to little recoil unless you fire for over 10 shots. This gun is really good in Multiplayer, and partially overpowered in my opinion. This is a highly recommended gun like the BZ19, so use it to your full advantage.

M1911: The (Colt/Browning) M1911 is a great sidearm. It has 8 rounds in a basic magazine and 10 with Extended Magazine. The M1911 has a little recoil, and OK iron sights. This handgun is recommended for back-up or main use, and can be played in many ways. In Singleplayer, the gun has no attachments so you are left with an 8 round magazine, which isn’t that bad. In Multiplayer, you got a few attachments. My favorite attachment in Multiplayer for the M1911 is probably Extended Magazine, since you unlock it early and is very helpful for getting in that final kill before a reload. I recommend to use this gun in Short and sometimes Medium range if you are accurate enough. This gun is my go-to gun besides the D50 (Desert Eagle .50 AE cal).

SVD: The SVD is a really good back-up shot Sniper Rifle. If you need more than one shot lke you got a body shot, this is the best for back-up shots. The SVD is an all-around performer but has a few flaws. The first flaw is that it doesn’t one-hit-kill unless in the head. The second is that it has a little recoil to get in that back-up shot. Otherwise, the SVD is a good choice and for hunting this is a good choice, but probably not the best. The SVD is a Russian Sniper Rifle that is an all-around performer.

M67 Frag Grenade: The M67 Frag Grenade is very helpful if you learn to use it right. The Frag Grenade has a Moderate Radius of about 5 feet. A helpful tip is to hold the Frag for maybe 1-2 seconds if the enemy is close, 1 second if the enemy is medium distance, and just aim and throw if long range. The timer on the grenade still ticks in the air, so you want to let it detonate maybe a second or less when the grenade hits the ground. The Frag grenade is also good for clearing out rooms, especially against Heavies or Flamers. The M67 Frag Grenade can be your best ally if you use it right.

Molotov: The Molotov ablazes anyone in about a 5 feet radius, and can spread quickly. The Molotov is a bottle of wine on fire. Don’t hold it for too long, as it might catch you on fire, that is no fun. This is good for clearing out rooms and out in the open, and especially good against Heavies or Flamers. “Fire right back at you Flamers!” This is very handy like the M67 Frag Grenade is, so learn to use it correctly, and it can save your life.

Decoding

Decoding is a brand-new feature introduced into Far Cry 3’s Multiplayer and Co-op. For playing matches, players will receive items they include. They go from CDs to Hard Drives. This is important in Far Cry 3. It may feel like a waiting game, but it pays off. It gets you camos for guns, xp, and allows you to boost your friend’s decoding time by making it half the time it takes to decode. The system is quite simple and is easy to master.

Far Cry 4 Ultimate Guide

My Far Cry 4 Ultimate Guide

Notice-You Guys Rock!

After looking bored around at the Far Cry 3 page, waiting DESPRATELY for Far Cry 4, I saw my guide on the front page. (Along with a h0rny .gif of Citra’s b00bies)
So, because of also the 44 ratings and 4/5 stars, I will do more. I will also make one for Far Cry 4, especially. So, you wait for that. Over the last maybe 1 and 1/3 years this guide has been up, I’m surprised it got this popular. I know someone will complain in the comments. So, I probably will be updating this guide until Far Cry 4 comes out. I’ll put out a Decoding Section, even though after 1 and 1/3 years, you know perfectly what that is. Thanks again!

Update (12/14/2015):
This is the 8th Top Rated Guide of All Time! I’m glad you guys have been enjoying this guide through the years of it’s development! If you have any special recommendations for this amazing feat, comment down below!
