The Five Nights at Freddy’s Guide

Overview

Hello, random Five Nights fan. You are reading this either because you don’t know how to play Five Nights at Freddy’s, you want a second opinion on the game, or you’ve read a ton of guides and view yourself as a “guide critic.”Nevertheless, this guide will teach you how to beat the first five nights, the sixth night, and how to find Easter Eggs.

Characters and Movement Patterns

Before we get into the nights, you first need to learn about the characters and their tactics to get into your office.

Freddy Fazbear

Freddy Fazbear, also known as just Freddy, is the main character of Five Nights at Freddy’s, if that wasn’t obvious. Freddy cannot move offstage until Night 3 (not including power outages). Freddy attacks from the right door and cannot be seen in the doorway before he attacks. Freddy can appear in 5 different locations. The Show Stage (Cam 1A), The Dining Area (Cam 1B), The Restrooms (Cam 7), The East Hall (Cam 4A), and the East Hall Corner (Cam 4B). If you see him in either East Hall camera, you must close your right door. If you cannot find him on any cameras, he is already in your room and will jumpscare you.

Bonnie the Bunny

Bonnie the Bunny, or Bonnie, is the animatronic rabbit. Bonnie is the most active animatronic in the first game and starts moving on Night 1. He attacks from the left door and can be seen in the doorway if you turn on your light. Bonnie can be seen in 6 different locations. The Show Stage (Cam 1A), The Dining Area (Cam 1B), Backstage (Cam 5), The West Hall (Cam 2A), The Supply Closet (Cam 3), and the West Hall Corner (Cam 2B). If you are looking at your camera and fail to shut the door in time, you can faintly hear Bonnie moaning, a sign he’s about to jumpscare you.

Chica the Chicken

Chica the Chicken, or Chica, is the animatronic chicken (or duck, or whatever). Chica is pretty active and occasionally moves on Night 1, but doesn’t get very active until Night 2. She attacks from the right door and can be seen in the doorway if you turn on your light. Chica can be seen in 5 locations, but visits 6. The Show Stage (Cam 1A), The Dining Area (Cam 1B), the Kitchen (Cam 6, although you can never see what’s on Cam 6 you can hear Chica bumping into stuff in the kitchen if you select it), the Restrooms (Cam 7), The West Hall (Cam 4A), and the West Hall Corner (Cam 4B). If you are looking at your camera and fail to shut the door in time, you can faintly hear Chica moaning, a sign she’s about to jumpscare you.

Foxy the Pirate Fox

Foxy the Pirate Fox, or Foxy the Fox, or Foxy the Pirate, or Foxy, or Wolf/Dog if you’re a YouTuber, is the animatronic fox. Foxy is not very active until Night 3, then you need to keep an eye on him. He cannot be seen through the doorway and instead runs straight for your office door. Foxy can be seen on 2 cameras. Pirate’s Cove (Cam 1C), and the West Hall (Cam 2A). He stays in Pirate’s Cove until he makes a mad dash for your office. There are 3 stages before he makes his sprint.

Phase 1: The curtains are closed.
Phase 2: Foxy is looking through the curtains.
Phase 3: Foxy is in a sprinting position.

After these 3 phases, Foxy is no longer seen on Cam 1C and the curtains are open. If you look at Cam 2A, you can see him sprint down the hall, but it’s probably the worst possible thing you can do to look at Cam 2A. Instead, when you don’t see Foxy at Pirate’s Cove, immediately close your camera and close the left door. After you hear Foxy knock/beat the door, he will return to Pirate’s Cove, most likely with a look of disappointment that he couldn’t wish you a happy birthday. When he knocks on the door, he drains part of the player’s power. The first time he does it, your power will go down 1%, the next time it will go down 6%, then 11% and so on.

Golden Freddy

Golden Freddy is the most rare and least active animatronic. He is very mysterious and can only be seen on 1 camera, which is West Hall Corner (Cam 2B). There is usually a Freddy poster here, but it will very rarely change to a picture of Golden Freddy. Once this picture is seen and you put down your camera, Golden Freddy will be sitting in your room and make random, glitchy noises. Instead of panic and scream in terror like you’ll want to do, quickly bring your camera up and flip it back down, then Golden Freddy will disappear. However, if you do not preform this action fast enough, he will jumpscare you and crash the game. Golden Freddy can only appear on Night 1 and Night 3.

Night 1

Night 1

Night 1 is the first and easiest night in the game. Freddy will not get off the stage this night unless you run out of power, and Foxy has a VERY low chance of moving, so your main concerns are Bonnie and Chica. Bonnie typically moves at the end of the phone call, which is around 2 AM. Bonnie usually goes to either Cam 5 or Cam 1B. He usually remains there for nearly an hour before appearing in Cam 2A or Cam 3. Bonnie will stay on Cam 2A or Cam 3 for as little as a few seconds or until 6 AM, it’s pretty random. Bonnie will usually appear at your door between 4 AM and 5 AM. Chica will usually move at 4 AM on Night 1, if she moves at all. When she does move, she usually heads for Cam 1B, then Cam 4A. She rarely makes it to the right door on the first night before 6 AM. Even though his chances of attacking are slim, you will want to check on Foxy at least once every 1-2 hours. If you cannot find Bonnie, check Cam 2B, Cam 3 and your left door. If you cannot find Chica, check Cam 6, Cam 4B and your right door. When it is 5 AM, if you have more than 25% power left, you should be able to shut both doors and survive the rest of the night, as long as you DO NOT check the cameras. If you run out of power on this night (or any other night), stand completely still. This will delay Freddy’s jumpscare for a while and gives you a better chance of making it to 6 AM.

Night 2

Night 2 is the second night in the game, and is slightly harder than Night 1. Freddy will not move this night unless you run out of power, but Foxy is much more dangerous on this night, and you’ll need to check him every 20-25 seconds. Bonnie and Chica will move any time between 12 AM and 2 AM. Bonnie typically goes for Cam 1B or Cam 5 first, while Chica usually goes for Cam 1B, Cam 7 or Cam 4A first. Between 1 AM and 2 AM, Bonnie will usually make his way to Cam 2A. Left door is the primary door this round because both Bonnie and Foxy go for it, but make sure not to forget Chica on the right side. Again, if you can make it above 25% power at 5 AM, you should be good to close the doors for the night.

Night 3

Night 3 is the third night and is the point where it starts to get dangerous. A famous quote of the Phone Guy on this night; “I better not take up too much of your time. Things start getting real tonight.” Foxy is now more active, and Freddy has a low chance of getting off the Show Stage and to the player. Bonnie and Chica typically leave the stage around 12 AM, but sometimes they’ll get off at early 1 AM. You want to check Foxy every 3-8 seconds, and keep checking the Show Stage to slow Freddy down. After Night 2, there is no need to try and find Bonnie and Chica on the cameras, but instead keep your eye on them through the doors. Attempting to look for them on the cameras on every night after Night 2 is a huge power waste. You should keep your camera on Pirate’s Cove and look at the Show Stage, then back to Pirate’s Cove. Freddy starts laughing when he gets off stage, and there’s a specific key to find where he is.

One Laugh: Dining Area
Two Laughs: Restrooms
Three Laughs: Kitchen
Four Laughs: East Hall
Five Laughs: East Hall Corner

Once Freddy laughs six times it is usually safe to open the door. Unless, of course, Chica is there.

Night 4

Night 4 is the fourth night and is SUPER hard. Both Foxy and Freddy become more active on this night. Chica is the most active on this night. There is a low chance, however, Freddy will be the same difficulty as he was on Night 3. Footsteps from Bonnie and Chica are good ways to tell when you need to check the light and close the doors. You want to check Pirate’s Cove every 2-9 seconds and the Show Stage every 4-10 seconds. This night and the next are much easier when you listen for audio cues. Bonnie and Chica are able to jam the doors, which means NEVER open your monitor. If the left door is open, it leaves you exposed to Foxy. If the right door is open, it exposes you to Freddy. If you open your monitor when the doors are jammed, either Bonnie or Chica will jumpscare you. Again, listen for Freddy’s laughter cues in order to tell where he is. The same with Bonnie and Chica’s footsteps.

Night 5

Night 5 is the fifth night in Five Night’s at Freddy’s, however it’s not the last. Every animatronic is extremely active this night. Foxy’s ability to drain the power, Freddy’s sneakiness and Bonnie and Chica’s constant door camping can easily drive you to insanity, not to mention hallicinations. In order to survive this night, you’ll need to do the following.

Close the right door immediately, as Freddy and Chica are there almost instantly.
Check Pirate’s Cove every couple seconds.
Check the door lights immediately after checking Pirate’s Cove.
Repeat the process until you either get killed in a stupid way, you lag in an offline game, the dog barks and “messes you up” (even though you may not even have a dog), or you try “going limp” and see what magic unfolds.

If you survive the night, congrats! But there’s a problem. The title of the game lied, there’s a sixth night! HOORAY FOR OVERTIME!

Night 6

Ah, Night 6. The sixth and “final” night of the game. No, it’s not the final night, that’s just hilarious. You thought Five Nights at Freddy’s would only have five nights? HA!

Anyways, this night is the hardest non-custom night in the game. It’s nicknamed “Nightmare Night” for a reason, ya know. When you first get into the night you don’t hear Phone Guy’s annoying but reassuring voice talking to you. Nope, it’s dead silent. You want to follow these instructions in order to survive.

Check Pirate’s Cove and Freddy.
Check doors.
Repeat until you rage 50 times then finally win.

If you can maintain 15% power until 5 AM, not only are you legendary, but if you’re still cautious you’ll most likely win. Then again. it’s Five Nights at Freddy’s we’re talking about here. If you survive the night, there’s still one more night in the game.

Custom Night

You did it! You completed all five nights at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria! Now what? Get a normal job? NEVER! You can work even MORE overtime!

Some notes to take on this night:

You can change Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy’s difficulty.
If you set everyone to Level 0, nobody will move until about 5 AM, then Bonnie and/or Chica will move slightly.
No matter what difficulty you set Freddy to, he still won’t pass up the chance to kill you if you run out of power.
Finishing the night gives you a special surprise. 😀

Now, have fun setting everyone to whatever level you feel like. Just note that Night 6 is easier than 4/20 mode.

Easter Eggs

SPOILERS AHEAD!

I’m now here to tell you some cool Easter Eggs in the game!

When you unlock Custom Night, set Freddy’s level to 1, set Bonnie’s to 9, set Chica’s to 8, and set Foxy’s to 7. You’ll get a cool surprise! 😀

Sometimes the posters on the walls will randomly change to things like “It’s Me” or crying children… things…? :/

Very rarely when you boot up the game, you’ll get a rare screen. I was lucky enough to get it and took a screenshot.

When Foxy is outside of Pirate’s Cove, the sign that originally says “Sorry! Out of Order!” now says “It’s Me.”

As stated before, you can find Golden Freddy on the Freddy poster. But did you know you can also find Freddy removing his face? Creepy…
