Overview

Since I thought about it, no one attempted to make a walkthrough guide. Maybe because some of us might have beaten the game right after it was released. Maybe some of us Noclipped our way out of there. Maybe I feel generous enough to help others with the best of my ability to get this guide on with or without Discussions. This game may have some problems that we dislike about, but it’s not bad for a Source Mod. If anyone else want to create thier own walkthrough guide, be my guest.

The Beginning

Chapter 1 has been updated.
The game starts off in Grobuskna’s apartment.

  • The Save Book is in the kitchen
  • Pistol and ammo is in his room
  • Keys are in the bathroom + A note with instructions

Do you want you need to do, answer the phone, and head out to the front door.

The Road Trip?

Remember, enjoy the cutscene. Stay in your Indestructible Car and drive right.Up ahead, you’ll see a building on the left. Stop the car next to the restrooms and get out. Grab the handy dandy torch on top of some crate boxes. Head inside the left door. Use the Torch to lighten up the bathroom and there is a passage to the other bathroom.
You can find: a K98S (Sniper Rifle), 2 Ammo Clips for the rifle, a note, and a dead body.
You can destroy the blockade just by bashing the torch at it.

Head back to the car and follow the path. Up ahead is the Hotel but take a right to the house because you need the Hotel Key.
Enter the house. If you look at one of the windows, you can find Slenderman who happens to be in the neighborhood.
In the house, you’ll find: A Save Point Book, 2 Pistol Clips, a note, and the Hotel Key.
Head out to get in the hotel with the key you found.

At the Hotel

You will meet Gregor. Choose whatever option you like to say. When the conversation is over, Gregor gets grabbed and disappears. On your left, you can find 3 pistol clips. You can either keep the K98S or grab the G43 Rifle that is lying on the floor where Gregor was just standing.
I can’t bear telling every room and what’s there. You’ll just have to EXPLORE.

  • There is a Boltcutter in the Men’s Restroom
  • You can find the FG-42 but only is it obtainable once you finish the game or Donate

Once you’re set, go upstairs and head to the hallway. Go to far end door. You will fight your first enemy.WARNING!

  • You can get the Tunnel map in the room where the monster was in. You can save there as well

Jump down the hole where you meet another enemy. Stand on the bed if you have to. Be careful, the creatures are fast and will drain your health quick.
Head out the hole in the wall and find your way to the mansion. Use the Boltcutter to break open the lock to get in the Tunnel.

The Tunnel

Follow the map you got to direct you way out of the Tunnel.
If you want the Sniper Rifle Achievement, get Three TNT to blow up the blocked room.
You can grab the first TNT on your way to the blocked room and the door leading out of the tunnel. The 2nd is straight forward. The 3rd is at the end of the tunnel path.

  • Don’t forget to grab the note and the Sledgehammer

Head back to the blocked door, use the TNT and grab that fancy SVT-40 Sniper Rifle.

Make sure you got everything you saw before heading out.

The Garden

Exploring is IMPORTANT and be aware of your surroundings. Before going outside, grab that Valve and a health kit (it’s green, so it’ll be easy to find). There are no monsters around, so you can find your way into the mansion easily without any problems outside.
Just like you did before, use the boltcutter to break the lock, it will lead you to the basement.
Be aware though, once you break the lock. you can’t go back outside.

The Mansion Part 1

Luigi’s Shienzel’s mansion is big with a lot of doors, so bear with me. You made it to the mansion, but in the basement. When you come across car with its light on, take the door on your left. Don’t mind the shower, just be careful of the barbwires blocking your health kit. Grab the Basement Key next to Karl‘s note (He seems important lol). The Shower Room requires some things to get in the mansion.

    You Need

  • A Valve (it goes in the Generator Room)
  • A Pipe (to fill in the missing pipe)
  • A Wrench
  • A Circular Saw (to cut the grate)

Is it okay if I painted the photo? Leave the shower room and go behind the car to find another Valve.

  • Note: Extra saves can be a good idea.

Once you’ve finished everything you can think of doing, move forward upstairs and use the Basement Key.

The door on the right is the bathroom. You’ll find a mirror and wasted monster zombie thing (who will attack when you leave the room. March Forward.
You’re in the bedroom and you can save there. I’m gonna stop here so we can rest. Having Fun? Hopefully there’s just 3 parts.

The Mansion Part 2

OKay, we’ve reached the mainhall, we’ll meet Shienzel soon or right now. Don’t bother going to all the doors, just go down the hall (either one) and you’ll be in the Dining Hall. -Just for the fun of it, someone please play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOyVY7BpYR8 as you see Shienzel. If not, fine, be it your way then-
Anyways, don’t bother shooting because he’ll leave quickly anyways.
There’s nothing else to find besides 2 pistol clips next to a chest. Now get ready in the kitchen. We’re having chowder tonight.
In the kitchen, you’ll see a mess. There is a note and a chef who is dead. Destroying the boards blocking your way out will trigger a fight. The First Boss should be a breeze right? Well, Have Fun. 🙂 What’s that? You died already? Ok ok, let me figure it out. I got it!

TIp: Chef is easiest killed when he is laying on the floor when you enter the room. While he is laying there attack him. you will cause major damage and you will be able to kill him in 3-5 secounds. Doing this will trigger the boss fight so be careful if you aren’t able to kill him in time.

  • IF you kept the Achievement Rifle from the Tunnel and saved enough ammo, jump to tall place and shoot the Chef in the back. Causes major damage.

Defeated him yet? Good, now let’s get going. Be aware, you’ll be greeted by two monsters to ruin your victory. Grab that pistol clip next to the flower pot on a box. As soon as you enter the next door, you won’t be able to go back to the kitchen. Cutscene rolls in to prove that you can’t go back. You are now in the Rightwing. So you’ll need the Rightwing key. There are two important rooms and a library up ahead, but all the rooms in the Rightwing need the same key.
Good thing you can save here. You can go upstairs right now.

Here’s a screenshot for the Rightwing.

  • As much as I hate the loading screens, you will love them because they will show you where you are going probably.
Okay, taking that far right door leads to the outside court or whatever. There is a treasure chest in the dining hall 2nd floor. “It won’t open…”
If you take the door right across from you, you’ll be in another hall. If you take the door on the right, you’ll see a lady crying (probably the mother or maid). She’ll try to kill you if you walk up to her.
WARNING!!!! Edward is knocking on the door to murder you so badly. Which door would you like to take? :3 :3 :3 Oh by the way, Edward breaking down the door leads to the Main Hall. Let’s go to the lady then. If you make it, Edward goes away for now. So just relax and march forward. When you’ve finished there, let’s head out and go back to the dining hall 2nd floor and go to the courtyard.

Courtyard (Outside) is the screenshot below

    • That Dead End? is literally a dead end but you’ll find a note and an extra bolt cutter
    • A crawler will attack when you enter the entrance to the Prom Room
    • The ? door, I’m just gonna call it the Creepy Room

Head to the Creepy Room door, the Rightwing Key is there with a monster to attack you, also a K98 rifle with 2 clips laying around. You can save there. If you go down the stairs, you can find a note, a door that won’t budge, and a pipe you can use. But you’ll need a Circular Saw for that.

If you go to the Prom Room, you’ll need the Gramaphone Record in order to recognize the correct piano keys. WARNING!!! If you dare open the chest with the Sledgehammer, you’re just asking for trouble. Plus, it’s too easy and hard at the same time. Just get that Rightwing Key from the Creepy Room and head back to the Rightwing and stop there.

The Mansion Part 3 (With the Rightwing Key)

When you get to the Rightwing , go ahead and open the doors with the key you finally gotten.

The Bathroom and that Workshop Room

  • Some enemies are there
  • There is a Wrench (Item tool)
  • An MP-40 (it will replace your current rifle)
  • A First-Aid kit
  • A note
  • Some ammo

**NOTICE**
*The weapon cabinet in the Workshop Room can not be accessed and the box of shotgun shells is just a prop. I have no clue on whether or not a shotgun will be featured in the game.

Safety First, go and save.
Now go back to the hallway with the random bookcase and the tilted Hilter potrait on the wall. The Library is just behind that bookcase. Interact with the Hitler painting. Use your Rightwing Key.
Go ahead down the hallway to come across the 2nd Floor Map. Keep going up the stairs and you’ll be in the library at the door. Eplore the whole room before you can go up the steps. You’ll find: A Rusty Lever (Item; keep it), A Mauser (replaces your current Pistol), ammo for the Mauser, Necronomicon (The Book from that Evil Dead movie I guess) Once your done with the scavenger hunt in the Library, let’s go up the stairs. Take a right and to that door.

You’ll be in Grobuskna’s Room. You can save in the bedroom. You should find: A small GMod statue (Easter Egg :3), The Gramaphone Record, a pistol with ammo clips, Stephano Collectible #3, 2 sniper rifle clips (I believe the SVT). When you’re done, let’s get going. Take the door on your left and you come across the Circular Saw and a door locked with chains. Grab the saw and cut the lock with the Boltcutter. You will be in the hallway leading to the rightwing. Let’s head back to where you didn’t went to the other hallway. You’ll be going to the 2nd Floor of the Dining Hall and heading out to the Courtyard.

A lady with one arm will try to kill you, dominate her and move on to the door. Going down the steps and opening the door leads you to the Main Hall. Now you can easily head back to the Grobuskna’s Room or something. Move on to the Dining Hall 2nd Floor (Because you have no access to the first floor of the Dining Hall) and head to the Courtyard. We’re going to get the Missing Pipe first and probably save there.[/b]

ONWARD TO THE CREEPY ROOM. Be aware, Stephano #4 is in the Creepy Room, look for a BIG Box. You can grab a rifle if you didn’t wasted ammo yet and a health kit (IF YOU DIDN’T USE IT YET). Go down the steps and enter the single valve room (I’m just calling it that). Use the circular saw on the grate to the right of the valve. Take the pipe and head up the steps.
When you’re done, head towards to the Prom Room and be sure you saved. Once you’re there, go put the Record on the Gramaphone, turn it on and listen.
I recommend listening to the music and try but just in case, here’s a screenshot.
Once it’s done correctly, the Guardian will awaken and will murder you.
The Guardian is tough to kill but we’re a lot more clever than the armor dude. Use the grand piano to your safety advantage if needed. Shoot the chandelier to drop it on the Guardian. Be sure it’s right on top of him/it.Once the Guardian is defeated, get the Rusty Key from the treasure chest if you haven’t yet and make your move to the Shower Room. With the Pipe, the Wrench, and the Circular Saw, you’re good to go. Be sure to save somewhere close or wherever is possible.

Once you are in the Shower Room, put the pipe where it belongs and use the wrench to tighten it. Use the Circular Saw to cut the grate in the middle.
Make sure the generator is activated in the Generator Room (that room will need a Red Valve). You will know that you can’t enter the grateless opening in the Shower Room if you didn’t turned all THREE Black Valves.
Take note, you gotta HOLD your Interact Button to turn the valves.
There’s a light if you done everything correct. Enter the Lighted Room below the Shower Room.
I know you have the Rusty Key so use it on this door. Also, did you saved your progress?

The Mansion Part 4: An Underground Base

Alright, you made it to the underground base. You soon meet Walter and Hans, and it’s YOUR OWN CHOICE TO BE THEIR FRIEND OR FOE.
Now this is very important, whatever you do, DO NOT TOUCH THE DOOR!!! Unless, you are ready.
If you try to open it, then this will happen. You’ll be screwed if you didn’t think fast.
Once you are done talking to Walter and Hans, there are two cells and one of them has a Panzerschreck with ammo. You can do what you want to with the rocket launcher, just don’t kill yourself.

Be sure to stock up on ammo, health if you can, and save.
  • Remember the Rusty Lever you should of have found in the Library, the underground office is where you’ll place on the wall. There is ONE grenade you’ll find in the Underground Office bathroom.
  • This is the best time to explore your surroundings and save.
  • Experiment with your new allies by asking them to Stay or Follow You. If they stay, one guy will be on the mounted gun and the other will stay back at the cells. If they follow you, they’ll follow you, simple.
  • Every rifle has their benifits to save your life. I don’t know about pistols. I would of prefered a revolver but we don’t have that here now do we? 🙁

Listen up well because this guide is all you got, there are a total of 5 RED Valves in the tunnel. They’re important when you try opening the door at the end of the tunnel. Just hold the USE/Interact button. Be aware that monsters will come running in to kill you and your buddies. Look at the locations carefully, they are in order.
The 1st Valve is next to the office.
The 2nd is close to the Armory and Restroom.
The 3rd is near the machine gun mount.
The 4th and 5th Valves are just where you think they’ll be.
If you managed to stay alive and keep your new friends alive as well, GOOD JOB! You get a cookie.
(Just a little something from me I found)
Stock up on ammo or change weapons if you need to. Now head to the double doors to take down Schienzel. And Be Sure To Save.
You’re not done yet I know. Remember Edward, well Schienzel sends him to kill you.

  • If you did killed Edward from the Mansion, he does comes back alive but his skin turns red. (Be glad he’s not green).

Edward is easy to kill with the Mauser Pistol, just stay out of his range and make every bullet count. Also, the door behind you will be locked until you beat Edward and Schienzel. So good luck.
Be sure you picked out the best rifle of your choice.
Schienzel is still human and he’ll be using the STG rifle. He functions just like any other NPC enemy. So think fast and act quick.

Schienzel can be killed in one shot if you shot him in the eye with the SVT sniper rifle but we can’t confirm that yet.. Get to the boxes in front of the room in which Edward came out of and you should be able to inch along and get a good shot at Schiezels eye.

Once you have defeated Schienzel, go in the room he was in. Read the note, grab the Car Keys and destroy the Necronomicon in the boiling cauldron. The Darkness is no more. Now, grab your friends (if still alive) and head out to the exit (the same way you came into the tunnel).

Escaping?

You are now outside. Get to the car! HURRY!

Other Things/ Notes/Notice

This Section is just for other stuff you might want to know.

With the recent updates, there are some stuff that changed:

  • All melee weapons that you can find (Meat Cleaver, Hammer, Brass Knuckles, a Knife) have been removed.
  • You can melee by bashing with any weapon plus with the Torch and Lantern.
  • Some Achievements stayed, some were removed, and new ones showed up.

  • The Torch does fire damage against enemies
  • P38 (Pistol you start off with)- Carry 8 magazines
  • K98/K98Scope (Bolt-Action Rifle)- Carry 4 magazines
  • MP40 (SMG)- Carry 8 magazines
  • Mauser C96 (Machine Pistol)- Carry 4 magazines
  • Panzerschreck (rocket launcher) was added and can carry 3 rocketes
  • STG44 (Fully Automatic Rifle)- Carry 4 magazines
  • G43 (Rifle)- Carry 8 magazines

Here’s a bonus weapon you can get that wasn’t present during gameplay. It’s a Thompson; a very helpful weapon
If you found extra items/tools, then probably it’s for a reason.
If I did mentioned any maps for the Tunnel or Schienzel’s Mansion, then they are removed from the game. So bare in mind of your location.
As of now, Stephano Collecting + its Achievement has been removed. I had fun collecting them.
This guide was created before the creator’s patches/updates. Possibly I will leave the guide as it is just so that everyone can see what it used to be.

    Honorable Mentions (outdate)

  • A noodle- something about this chest on the 2nd Floor of the Dining Hall.
  • DeCaff-reminding us that having the tourists fighting along against Schienziel is better than being a lone wolf.
  • Rynz- knowing how to defeat the Guardian with one bullet.
  • Twofish- headshots are real
  • Beridok- Checks my spelling and reminded me of the updates.
