The main story of Far Cry 5: Orthodoxy’s opinion

Overview

In this guide, we will try to analyze the game’s story, based on the principles and concepts of religion, as well as try to answer the question “Did Joseph do the right thing?” and understand the meaning of the main storyline.

Beginning

“John 8:31-32.
31 So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples.
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, the sinner.
Those who look upon evil without aversion will look upon it with pleasure. For this reason, we are given a word’s gift, so that we can open to each other the advice and thoughts of our hearts.

Two years have passed since the release of Far Cry 5, and people still continue to play it, gather companies and go to the Arcade mode, go through a campaign and additional tasks in pairs with a friend, explore the world, ask questions like ” Why is Faith only in bliss?”, ” Why even if you start a new game+, you still can’t get to the veterans center, which is in the Jacob’s region, because we hearing “Only you”?” etc. But most of the players who passed the game probably had a question – ” did Joseph do the right thing?”.
From the beginning, it was clear that this game with a religious context and a reference to the horsemen of the apocalypse, sins, cleansing and redemption, and not just a reference, but the commission of these actions by the NPC.
This guide will provide one of the many hypotheses about what is happening in the world of Far Cry 5 and explain it from a Christian point of view.
In order to answer the main question that interests us, you need to go through the “Palmer’s Way”, namely, to understand quite difficult moments for yourself. They can be described as follows:

So it begins

Persuasion

The first we need to make sure of the sect’s intentions. The game begins with the fact that we flying on helicopter to Father’s island to arrest him. Our company: a federal marshal, a sheriff and 3 of his deputies, one of their is we. We get there just when evening prayer is going on in the church, where all the family members are present: John, Jacob Joseph and Faith.
From the moment the helicopter lands, you can understand the following:
– Eden’s Gate is a well-organized sect with a hierarchical system, life’s outlook, and a common goal;
– Emotional mood of the organization is aggressive, although, as they claim, they have a good goal to save people and find tha path to Kingdom of Heaven.
Some statements of main game characters explaining their position and attitude to people:

Humanity is once again in crisis. It doesn’t matter what we build or achieve…we will always find a way to break it down. Babylon. Rome…Empires rise, empires fall…America. We’re no different. We think we’re indestructible…World War Two, War on «Terror»… we survived it… but it only brought us closer to the edge. And this is where we are.

We are blind to our obsessions and our obsession is consumption. Relentless consumption. You see, we need to have the next best phone, and then to go with that phone, we need a new watch, or we need new glasses, and then we need a new bag to put all of our stuff in. and then of course we need, streaming music, and we need streaming TV, and we need streaming movies, and streaming news, and then streaming opinion, and streaming truth, and streaming lies, and lies, and lies, swimming in our heads…and we consume without purpose, and we consume without reason, and we consume without regard for one another. We consume all, and that is our sin — Greed…and we drift down the corridors of consumerism. We’ve got our phones and our pads pressed up against our faces. Not stopping, never taking notice to the pain and the suffering of those around us. Because we need to race to upload photos of our pets, or-or our meals, or our bodies. Mmm, look at me. See what I have done? See what I have done in this moment? I’m special, I’m smart, I’m funny, I’m pretty. That is the travesty because we are all special! We are all smart! But yet we seem to-to-to need the desperate approval of some “digital friends” that we hardly even know, when your family and your loved ones are right here! Sitting beside you! Our family does not live up in the digital cloud! Our family does not send “Status updates”!

Of course, the words are really correct, wise and understandable to many people. But what if it’s just words? After all, Eden’s Gate is a sect that believes in the Father, and the Father, in turn, believes to God the Father, whose voice he heard at a young age. The voice that informed him of future Apocalypse, about death of many and small salvation . With accordance what Seed’s said, we can be drawn parallels with the words spoken in Scripture:

Originally posted by James 2:20:

You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?

From the game it is clear that the actions of the sect contradict the words of the Holy Apostle James, although they carry a hidden deep “Correct” meaning. And then the question arises: what exactly are the actions of the sect contrary to the Truth? I answer: people are forced to do what they do not want; they take all their property; they baptize in their own way and, in the end, they kill those who disagree, “cull the herd”.
It is worth remembering the words of Christ about love to people:

Originally posted by Matthew 22:37-40:

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

After all, as we learn from the game – the Father is a prophet of the Lord, bringing the truth to the world and rejected by all. So was not Joseph proud when he identified himself with the God? Wouldn’t whether it is his family’s members to the pride and anger? Yes, he rebuked John, “Do you mock the Cleansing, John?” and even threatened him that Eden’s Gate might close for him. This is his attitude to his own brother and to other people..?
Bible say:

4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Indeed, Bible’s words refer to righteous people who speak the truth and bring the Truth to the world. But whether the Joseph’s right, who calls himself Father, but others people his Children? We can look on an example any pseudo-Orthodox and pseudo-Christian sect that will hide behind this statement, although it itself, in its essence, will inspire people with false truth, lead them away from the Faith and keep them in a soul torment, suppressing their essence and spiritual qualities; profit from their sincerity and credulity.
But we can remember that words:

9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.
11 The greatest among you will be your servant.

Joseph Seed is the exact opposite of the Christ’s commandments. However, there is a question: did God really spoke to Joseph? Spoiler* Yes, according to Far Cry 5’s history – yes. Because in the end, there is only one thing waiting for us – collapse.

Action

“Matthew 23:12
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

God’s Herald
Joseph Seed, who calls himself the Father, the Prophet who brings the Truth to the world, is right, but his actions define him as not the most good and kind person. It is worth remembering at least that on his island you can find notes with the call to “Start the harvest”; remember the moment when Rook sat in Jacob’s cage, listening to his Father’s speech about how he gave up everything he had and followed God.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Yes, the Lord took his wife from him, but left his daughter. Most likely, to Far Cry 5’s world, maybe it was her name and role to Project Eden’s Gate’s that should have been Faith.Faith is an adopted Seed’s sister, not her own, of course, but close in spirit and faith. It can be assumed that in the depths of his soul, Joseph blamed himself very much for killing his own daughter. He may not have shown it, but in any case, we don’t know what was going on in his soul. Perhaps this is the explanation for why there were “many Faiths”. Maybe Father looking for someone who would be more look like him, looking like his adult daughter if she were alive.

The sad thing is that people who did not fit any criteria for the Father for the role of Faith were treated so bad.
The goal of the game is to strengthen the existing resistance of Hope County for a more successful confrontation with the Eden’s Gate. But the question is-who should do it? That’s right – the main character. So will you find a reason to say “YES”?
In fact, if we analyze this issue in more detail, it is the Deputy (Rook) who captures outposts, violates sect’s plans, saves people and, not least, kills every “rider” – a Seed’s family mamber. The Father himself says that these are “seals.”
The Lord, seeing what Joseph had become and what he was doing to the people who needed to be saved, was angry and decided to punish him with the hands of the Main Character (Rookie). In fact, the Father was in the seduction and could not get rid of it in any way, poisoning both his relatives and other people around him with this vice.
For it is said:

Originally posted by Matthew 5:20:

For I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.

Joseph, as we can see from his actions and the game’s story, is by no means a simple person, but on the contrary, considers himself great and omniscient, although his goal was simple – just to warn people about the impending collapse, and not to force them to believe in it and not to kill those who do not want to obey and trust.
We can draw a conclusion: Rook, in a sense, it is the “God hands” who are trying to bring down to earth someone who should be “poor and naked”, but in fact is but playing a Great One.

Everything in life has to be paid for; but isn’t God merciful in giving and taking? Does He not reward us according to our deeds?

Awareness

“The only thing that is really hard to do is to awareness.”

After all we’ve been through; after all challenges…We just need to understand what all this was for and how all the pieces of the big puzzle can be connected to each other; where is the beginning and where is the end and what final can wait for us all. So, what we have:
– To protect and preserve family and people who want to be saved by believing in their Father, special bunkers were built in which to wait out the Collapse and which were destroyed by the Rook before the Apocalypse began. All the people who were locked up were released. Bunkers were blown down up to destroy the Bliss and cult’s soldiers.
– To stupefy people, made a Bliss – a substance whose component was ordinary datura. This is necessary in order to subdue the rebellious and unbelievers, to create a cheap labor force and a weak-willed mass of people who will do what they are told. Those who resisted and did not want to become slaves were killed or forcibly cleansed.
– John, Jacob, and Faith were influenced by the father and fell to seduction just as he did. This was due to the immense power given to them by their Father, the helplessness of people and their personal permissiveness. But Faith is the only family member who has led a person to murder, and then to suicide. Even Jacob , the most terrible of all the family members, did not do this, although he zombified people, controlling them with a special music box, making them weak-willed slaves.
All the negative aspects of the powerful Eden’s Gate were exposed by them, for which they paid the price. This is not so much a matter of a decision from above, rather than of one’s own disregard for those who are weaker, more prone to panic and fear.
Everyone is responsible for their own affairs, Joseph is no exception.
He lost absolutely everything. Everything that he created for a long time, what he aspired to, remaining only with the one whom God sent. This is the price of his pride and vanity.
Now he was left with the most terrible torture – the struggle with himself. Awareness of the committed acts, crippled destinies and lives of innocent people; seduction of the “chosen ones”, infecting them with pride and vanity.

The End

Oh Lord, the Great Collapse
Won’t be our end
When the world falls into the flames
We will rise again

Every man’s way is right in his eyes. No one knows how it really was, and in the end-it’s just a game. Everywhere you can find hidden meaning, even where it can not be initially. But is it not true that the fate of a person directly depends on his thoughts, actions and attitude towards others?
Perhaps, listening to your conscience, we can do much more good deeds than succumb to the influence of your own corruptions.

16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.
18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.
23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”And this is the word that was preached to you.

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, your Father will not forgive you your trespasses.”

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
