Overview
The most in depth guide there is because there isn’t any other out there lol, showcasing basic information, tips, and tricks to this arcade style shooter. Who knows maybe you will learn something new!
The Basics
Lets start off with the basics, you move your character with WASD and shoot your weapon with LMB. Each character has 2 abilities, a “special” ability and a “combo power” both are unique to that class that you are playing, so let’s take Doctor’s abilities for example.
Special
Your special ability is fairly to understand, you use it by pressing RMB and it instantly deploys and goes on cooldown, It’s cooldown is based on your upgrades, the more you upgrade it the faster it comes off cooldown.
Combo Power
Combo powers on the other hand will need more than 2 brain cells to figure out. You will need to get a combo in order to use it. “What is a combo?” you might ask, well I’ll go ahead and tell you!
A combo is a series of 5 kills within a short span of each other 5 seconds to be exact otherwise you will drop the combo and will need to retry, if you achieve a combo you will be awarded with a combo power.
To use it all you have to do is press E when its ready.
I feel like this should be address even though its really simple but as someone with an IQ of an ape I tend to forget about it. You can store 2 weapons and switch between them by pressing Q.
Classes
There are a total of 6 classes, each class has their own unique set of special abilities. Since you don’t get any time to read during a game I will be describing all of them here.
Doctor
Doctor is by FAR the best class, my mans legit can solo carry any team all while being surrounded by zombies. Their special ability is “Healing Kit” Which deploys a med kit healing you and other players within the radius. Their combo power is “Transplant” it sucks off the zombies around you so good that when they bust they fall over and die.
Electrician
You are now playing Engi from TF2 since you will waste all your points on your turret. Their special ability is “Home-made Turret” It deploys a turret mowing down zombies within the radius. Their combo power is “Tesla Zap” which I end up forgetting exist since you turret is mowing down all zombies anyways, If you ever see your Tesla Zap ability as an electrician you are probably doing something wrong.
Journalist
Frank West is quite a lot of fun to play, you get to kill the zombies by opening up discord light mode making the zombies eyeballs burn causing them to instantly die. Their special ability is “Radio Tower” which summons a 5G tower that pulses and kill any zombies within radius. Their combo power is “Camera Flash” which as mentioned above blinds and kills any zombies within the radius. Fun fact, this combo power is the only one that can charge itself, you can kill 5 zombies with it and instantly have it back up and ready.
Mercenary
I don’t have any kind words for Mercenary, both of his abilities are mediocre at best and you need to spend all your points on one ability in order for Mercenary to be even slightly useful. Their special ability is “A.L.P.S.” which is a satellite that strikes down lasers on zombies instantly killing them within the radius. BUT is hot garbage when not fully upgraded and only really good at taking down beefy monsters when having it maxed out. Their combo power is “Focus Shoot” this 🐕💩 ability auto aims and shoots all zombies for you for a few seconds, which will do 0 DMG since you will be spending all your hard earned points on A.L.P.S. instead.
Survivor
The jack of all trades, this class has an amazing special AND combo power leading me to play it when I eventually stop playing Doctor after 18 hours straight. Their special ability is “Blade Trap” which is really just a better radio tower since you don’t have to wait for a pulse and instead it just slices all zombies within the radius. Their combo power is “Ramming Shield” where you gain Fox’s shine and deal heavy DMG to any zombie that come in contact with it.
Scientist
By playing Bill Nye you are basically playing an AOE class. Their special ability is “Black Hole” which creates well.. a black hole that sucks in any zombies within the radius instantly killing them. Their combo power “Explosive Flasks” a great AOE tool that allows you to throw explosive flasks for a few seconds.
These are just my opinion on what you should focus maxing first on each class but in the end everything depends on your playstyle.
Doctor: Honestly there is no bad answer here, both his abilities are amazing but if your team is doing good and aren’t dying, just max out Transplant instead of Healing Kit.
Electrician: Turret good.
Journalist: Since you can’t put points into Camera Flash and Radio Tower is already good on its own I’d say just upgrade it to tier 2/3 to get a bigger radius then use your the rest of your points on something you like.
Mercenary: Don’t play it lol
Survivor: Same as Journalist really, just get Blade Trap to tier 2/3. Then spend your points on whatever you want, I personally never upgrade Ramming Shield since having a longer shield duration is pointless when I only need the 3 seconds to clear a whole line of zombies, unless you wanna be invincible for a longer period of time.
Scientist: Do what you want, whatever ability you like using most.
Why yes, I do indeed play Doctor. How could you tell?
Online/Co-Op Advice
When playing online remember that if you have a Doctor getting healed is free and that gives the Doctor +10 points per tick and reviving players gives +200 points. So if someone is nearby please try wait for them to revive you so you can give them some free points, I usually tend to wait around 2-3 seconds before trying to resurrect myself, instead of spamming LMB.
When joining a game mid session, if you don’t know what to do and you end up dying instantly best thing you can do is to try and wait for someone to revive you and when you get the change put points into +1 life or into more health since if you die too quickly you will turn into a zombie and that can quickly spiral out of control.
I don’t understand why, but some smooth brains end up creating a public lobby and just instantly kicking whoever joins, I see this quite often so If you don’t know how to create a private lobby just follow these steps!
Right on the main menu you will see 3 main tabs, click on the one that says game worlds and you will be taken to all the mini games.
From there you will see all the games currently available. From there you can choose Zombie Massacre or any game you want, then you will be asked to choose a map after that you can start a private lobby!
Enemy Types
Regular Zombie +50 points per kill
Fire Zombie +75 points per kill
Ghost +50 points per kill
Jack O +50 points per kill
Zombie Dog +75 points per kill
Spider +75 points per kill
Werewolf +50 points per kill
Vampire +100 points per kill
Skelly Boi +50 points per kill (unavailable in monster potion)
Some enemies are stronger than others and some only appear on certain maps, so here is my list on which monster you should be focusing from first to last based on how much health they have, how much DMG they will deal to you, and also how fast they are.
- Vampire
- Werewolf
- Jack O
- Ghost
- Zombie Dog
- Spider
- Fire Zombie
- Skelly Boi
- Zombie
Weapons
There are 3 different weapons that you can upgrade to during your run (not counting the starter handgun) and up to 30 more weapons from random zombie drops, as there a lot of weapons to choose from and liking them depends on your type of playstyle, I will only be showcasing the main starter weapon, it’s upgrades and some of my favorite weapons to look out for!
Not much so say about the starter Handgun it’s aight.
I always end up upgrading to tier 2 and for me having Dual Handguns is a must! I think they are perfect at what they do, and even more so with DMG upgrades.
I rarely use the Uzi upgrade unless I’m planning to upgrade to the final upgrade which is the Sawed-Off so I can’t really say much about it.
This is what you end up getting if your team is lackin and you need something to clear those waves and get some DMG on the final boss.
The SPAS-12 is easily the best weapon, insane DMG and can clear waves with ease.
M4A1 is has lots of ammo, a fast fire rate, and great DMG. What’s not to like?
The Tommy Gun is like the M4A1’s little brother same concept smaller execution.
Its a Minigun.
The Laser Rifle is just a lot of fun to use seeing it’s green lasers zoom around, and that’s not even taking into account that it has great stats.
For some reason all melee weapons don’t do the same amount DMG so I will list them here as a bit of trivia
Medieval Sword – 200 DMG
Sledge Hammer – 200 DMG
Retro Guitar – 150 DMG
Guitar – 125 DMG
Katana – 125 DMG
Spiked Baseball Bat – 100 DMG
Axe – 75 DMG
Map Advice/Tips
As of making this guide there are a total of 5 Maps and I will be showcasing some general on where to set up. As well as showing pictures where zombies spawn and come from, as it will indicated by the red circles and red arrows pointing to the direction.
Compound generally has 2 main places where people set up.
1st: one is in this small area but it’s also really close to one of the zombie spawns and if you aren’t paying attention you can easily get hit multiple times.
2nd is by far my favorite since you are not standing close to any spawn point and there are lots of places to move if you ever get overwhelmed.
Village is probably the most popular map right now, at least from what I seen it seems to get chosen a lot considering its not pitch black and you earn bonus units from it.
1st place is pretty much the spawn point this is where people will most likely set up and just roam around the top side of the map. (Tip: if you are being surrounded here, you can escape through the right side only downside being that it’s a very narrow area.)
2nd area is a lot smaller and has little space for error but if you are playing a class with an instant kill ability you can easily set up on the bridge, so its not that rare to see people set up here.
Gasoline is a amazing starter map and is where I feel like you find most of the new players, for it’s medium difficulty, it’s actually really easy and has lots of space to roam around.
People will usually stick in the middle as its the best place to set up and move around left or right if there happens to be a large wave.
I don’t really have a set up guide or spawn for these since you pretty much set up exactly where you spawn, and because of they are both large map zombie spawns are all over the place.
