Overview
That’s my first guide, and I’m not too keen on introducing stuff, so I’ll jump straight to the point. If you’re here you probably want to obtain the “The Spectral One” achievement, which requires you to defeat the level 50 boss of the Neptral Tower with level 1 characters.
“The Spectral One”
- Kinda obvious but whatever: you need to make your chars wear the “Forced lv.1 belt” accessory to get them to level one;
- You don’t need to make all the characters wear it: giving the forced lv1 belt to one character makes the others level 1 as well
Completing the achievement you will also be awarded the “Fever Slot” item, so you’ll need to do it in order to complete another achievement: “Accessory Fanatic”
Not-so-fair methods
Well, since the game features cheats there’s a way to obtain the achievement simply turning in the “1 hit kill” cheat, running straight to the boss and oneshotting sadly with a dumb-y attack.
But if you want to obtain the achievement legitimately, and are trying to figure out how to manage, keep on reading
Boss’ pattern and strategy
Let me examine a few points:
- The boss features 2 main attack patterns, a giant ray and a “blade waltz”
- The giant ray will most likely oneshot you lv.1 character, but it-s easy to dodge, having a long (and visible) cast time
- The boss will not fire the giant ray while you’re under him, and you want to be under him the whole time (so one attack is not dangerous anymore)
- The blade waltz deals damage for each blade that hits you, so you can escape after taking a bit of damage, and shouldn’t oneshot you given you got a bit of HP
- The boss won’t be able to attack while you’re hitting him, for a brief delay
- The first few points are just explanatory, the only one that really matters is the last one. Given the fact that the boss will be “stunned” (more like unable to attack) briefly while taking damage, a continuous source of damage will do the trick.
Characters
I just explained that the trick consists in cornering the boss and attacking him continuously, but not every character has a continuous DPS combo pattern. I tried clearing it with most characters but the only ones who worked seemed to be Neptune and Nepgear (both HDD). The other chars would just end up giving the boss space to counterattack or simply messing up the positioning, so I don’t recommend using them.
Back on the topic, with Neptune and Nepgear being the most suitable (I’d say the only ones) for the challenge, which one to pick?
You could say ” I’ll pick both”, but switching could make for an opportunity of attack for the boss, so I’d advise trying to clear using just one
Purple Sister, aka Nepgear! Why? She’s got an insane DPS which will make you kill the boss within less than a minute, while Neptune is slower and without the item that doubles the duration of HDD form she would end up exhausting the Exe drive before killing the boss.
EDIT: Noticed that Nepgear HDD’s DPS is like 3 times higher than Neptune’s, so your choice shall go directly to Nepgear.
Build
First of all, and all you need for the human form is the Scramble Engine, that will give you the full Exe drive barr to enter HDD immediately.
For the HDD form, I used:
- Over Kit EX for the Attack+ Overclocked damage
- Red Mantle
- Demon Lipstick for the Attack stat boost (you don’t need SP)
If you feel unease and want a bit of coverage in case of mistakes you could choose a HP increase item, like Demon Puff or Darkness Donut but I wouldn’t advise you to…
Other decent items are:
- Maximise Kit EX
- Darkness gear (it’s even better than Demon lipstick, since you can’t recover Exe either way)
- Heat gauntlet
- Acid Kit EX (sacrifice HP that you don’t have/need for Attack boost)
