What is a Temmie? Well, this thing right here is a Temmie. He works at the Tem Shop. Temmies are a species of monster that were created by Temmie Chang, one of the artists of Undertale. It is a creature that mimics her personality which is fun, bouncy, and a bit of a joker. The creature itself is a blend of dog, cat and human characteristics. Most Temmies speak in what can only be called “Temglish”, which is English but with a highly fragmented and random flair to it. The have very rich history, and you can sell your junk to them. They have a craving for a special food called Temmie Flakes.

Temmie History

Created by Temmie Chang, the Temmie History is massive, according to the Temmies. We never get to learn of that history though, so………..who knows?

What Are Temmie Flakes?

Really, no one knows. They seem to be addictive for the Temmies, yet the effects on the player are minimal. They also seem to be responsible for the Temmies’ behavior. A common theory is that Temmie Flakes are a solidified form of LSD or heroin. Others think it is related to psychedelic plants and fungi. No one truly knows what it is though, so we may never know.

Let’s get this out of the way: few people even know the Temmie’s exist in universe, with only the player, Gerson, and (maybe) Alphys knowing about their existence(I say maybe because we only see/hear a vague description about them in one of the books in the Lab/True Lab, unless I am mistaken. Forgive me if I am.). Now, this could indicate either one of two possibilities: either the Temmies have always been hyper-secluded, or they are relatively new in existence. We know that monsters have the ability to manipulate the SOUL, definantly beyond the capabilities of the humans on the surface, so, could they also manipulate, I don’t know, say DNA?

We know that the sole lab that you see is incredibly powerful, and that there are many hidden (until True pacifist) rooms. It stands to reason that the Temmie’s could be created out of the hybridization of dog and cat DNA. This could have created a race of Temmies that were smart, strong, and kind. Now, why would they need to be created? I think, as a bioweapon of sorts that came out of the monster wars. We know that humans are allergic to Temmies, however, some Temmies would also be allergic to themselves, for reasons unknown. We see paintings and statues of Temmies fighting off humans in their village, and one of the Temmies, with proper education, can create the strongest armor in existence, so, it stands to reason that, in some period of history, they were warriors. They also are quick, easily outpacing the human SOUL. We also see dogs actively using weapons in the game, and cats selling weapons near the Mettaton hotel, which also supports the idea that they were a warrior race. This could have made them effective killers. So, after the human and monster war, them being sealed away and forgotten might be for the best.

This leads to one final question though: where do Temmie flakes come into this. Well, in a way, just like the 1960s. These Temmie flakes are clearly addictive, and oddly pacifying, slightly causing them to lose any former intelligence. A Temmie that receives Temmie flakes will lose all will to fight. They clearly want more, and they are attracted to the flakes. And, no one, at least in the village, knows who makes the flakes. They just receive them and sell them. Someone else could be making and importing them. Someone with mass production capabilities. Someone like Alphys. It would make sense, as her Lab clearly demonstrates that it could easily mass produce a machine: the Mini Mettatons that Mettaton uses could be seen as proof of that. She is at least minimally aware of the Temmies existence. So, it could stand that she made Temmie flakes in order to prevent them from raging across the underground. Now, this only leaves one missing piece: Bob. How does he fit in here? Well, he is clearly not on the Temmie flakes, if this theory proves accurate. He at least knows that the things are addictive. He wants to keep interactions short, as it could lead to him ingesting Temmie flakes involuntarily. In short, he is the Temmie species sole hope of not going extinct. He is basically the Temmies savior, and maybe even leader. He lacks the erratic behaviors of the Temmies and seems logical for the five seconds we meet him. So, the whole future of the Temmies rests on Bob. Oh, and Frisk, who can and probably will open the underground by breaking the barrier. Oh well, this theory is going on for too long. So remember, that is just a theory. A game theory! Thanks for reading.

“So… I dont know if this is a good theory but its a thought I had. So… in the game you get dog residue. You can sell that to the Tem shop and get gold, right? So my theory is The Temmie in the shop is the one that makes the temmie flakes and sells them. And since he is trying to college, he is relying on the player to get him the needed material: Dog residue, he will buy it from the player and then make the flakes to sell… just a thought. I can be wrong…. bye.”
