The Ultimate Foxhole Partisan Guide for Foxhole

The Ultimate Foxhole Partisan Guide

Overview

Partisans are an essential part of Foxhole, this guide will teach you everything about being a partisan in Foxhole, it will cover concepts such as resetting, sabotage and as well as just general tips to operate behind enemy lines. As one of the most experienced and respected partisans in Foxhole, this should give you an idea of what is good and what is bad, however as a partisan you must be creative and not just follow textbook rules. This guide was edited by multiple veteran partisans so we can guarantee that you’re getting the best content and tips. Hope you enjoy!

An Introduction to Partisan Theory

A partisan in Foxhole is a soldier who works behind enemy lines sabotaging and deny the enemy of equipment and resources. The actions of a partisan may seem insignificant to the war effort as a whole, however, the consequences of a partisan’s actions can actually be devastating to the opposing faction. For example, even just a few experienced partisans cutting a main logistic road can completely deny a front from receiving any logistical support, allowing your team to push up while the opposing faction is low on supplies.

Another important area of partisan work is resetting enemy buildings such as Town Halls or Relic Bases. Pulling off these resets are not only a great stunt for your team to praise you with, but they also hurt the other team greatly! Towns that are reset will need to be re-upgraded. Otherwise, all structures within its vicinity will decay and defences will not be connected to AI.

In this guide, we will go over the different partisan operations, various vehicles a partisan may use, weapons, general partisan tips and significant partisans to learn from.

Partisan Operations (3 Basic Types)

The most popular and simplest partisan operation. A logistics blockade, as mentioned multiple times earlier can be either just partisans on the edge of a road waiting for logistics trucks to come through and shooting them down or can be a full-on defensive line with multiple structures such as trenches and foxholes to lower the chances of a logistic truck getting through. This is also one of the most

**Myself using the environment to my advantage to stop colonial logistics.

The hardest type of partisan operation, which may or may not require extensive planning, depending on the location. Use satchel charges (or whatever is available) to blow up a structure such as a Town Hall and use a CV to start constructing it (just press “E” at it, you don’t need to build it). This resets the building to have 0 progress on all its facilities. Tier 3 town halls have the most health; they take 5 satchels to blow up, so always take 5 just in case you need to switch your target from one building to another. If you have the chance, you should try to rebuild the building and despawn everything inside.
[This requires: Construction Vehicle, Explosives ~preferably Satchel charges]

Simple, yet extremely effective. The more you do this, the better you get. Essentially, all you’re doing is running around (on foot or in a vehicle) behind enemy lines and doing whatever the hell you feel like doing. See an enemy scrap node? Go check the boxes and empty them out! See a huge bunker base? Mark it and scout it for your team! See a parking lot of enemy vehicles new a body of water? Take them for a swim! See an enemy component mine? Blow up their fuel tanker!

This can even be extended to create a partisan forward operating base behind enemy lines, just in case if you die, you can respawn. Partisan bases are extremely effective, however they take a while for the average non-experienced player to set up.

Getting behind enemy lines

Before you can do any operations, you’ll need to get behind enemy lines first. Try to plan your “route” while you’re gathering supplies for your operation. The most effective method of getting behind enemy lines is by “hugging” the borders of each map. Most of the time, there will be no defences near the border and watchtowers will not be able to cover it. Example:

However, one thing to note about this is that sometimes you may encounter an environmental barrier (Such as The Bulwark). You may need to think on the fly and cut across a field, when doing this, try not to pause at all and try to get back to the border as fast as possible as there is a high chance you will be on the enemy watch tower radius.
There is a good guide written by Dire about the Bulwark’s breaching points: [link]

If you encounter an enemy watchtower, DO NOT SHOOT IT (Unless you are purposefully trying to annoy the enemy faction). This is because when you hurt enemy watchtowers, they send a global notification to every player on the opposing faction letting them know your position.

*If you’re on foot, remember that crouching and going prone will make your hit box smaller, allowing you to go under specific structures.

*If you’re feeling lazy, you can always take the backdoor approach, and get behind enemy lines via a water vehicle and landing on a beach. This method is most effective when the water regions (The Oarbreaker Isles, Fisherman’s Row, Godscrofts and Tempest Island) are not disabled. However, it can still be effective without those maps.

Snowstorms
During snowstorms, do not do partisan on foot, you will move very slowly and freeze without campfires or vehicles. In some areas, snow storms will freeze over water. This allows vehicles to drive over the frozen water.

Rainstorms
During rainstorms, radio coverage is reduced for the affected areas, allowing for more areas to sneak past enemy defences. However, during rainstorms, mud is enabled and must be watched out for. Mud will hinder movement and make you a sitting duck.

Vehicles

Believe it or not, but the ambulance is currently the best partisan vehicle. It has very fast speed offroad, even when carrying supplies. It’s got 9 slots for whatever you need and has an amazing turn rate. Unlike the LUV, it only costs basic materials to build which makes it worth it’s value.

-Two seats (1 driver, 1 passenger)
-Nine inventory slots
-Costs 150 bmats
-Max speed of 14.7 m/s

The classic partisan vehicle. Very good speed offroad and has 9 slots for anything you might need. The L.U.V, Light Utility Vehicle, has enough speed to dash through most AT turret checkpoints before they can fire. It also has just enough health to dash through most partisan checkpoints if not too heavily defended. The downside to the L.U.V is that it acts as a watchtower, meaning that it will show up on your team’s map, enabling spies and alts to know your location.

-Two seats (1 driver, 1 passenger)
-Nine inventory slots
-Costs 10 rmats
-Max speed of 15 m/s

Info
Drummond Spitfire 100d (Warden-Exclusive)
The Drummond Spitfire 100d is one of the best partisan vehicles. Costing only 15 rmats,
it acts sort of like a half-track, but with less health. When used in packs, the havoc caused in enemy backlines can be devastating. However, due to it’s armament being just a simple LMG, you won’t be able to destroy many structures.

-Three seats (1 driver, 1 gunner, 1 passanger)
-Three inventory slots
-Costs 15 rmats
-Max speed of 15 m/s

Drummond Loscann 55c (Warden-Exclusive)
The Drummond Loscann 55c is probably my favourite LUV variant as it is able to go on water. However, it uses ALOT of fuel when in the water, so going into the oceans is not recommend. Use it to cross rivers or escape from enemy qrf. Again, remember that it is open top, so it is easy to be shot out of.

-Four seats (1 driver, 3 open-top passenger)
-Five inventory slots
-Costs 10 rmats
-Max speed of 14.5 m/s (Land), 4.5 m/s (Sea)

UV-05a “Argonaut” (Colonial-Exclusive)
The UV-05a Argonaut is another very good partisan vehicle variant. It has the fastest offroad speed of any vehicle currently. However, the downside is that it is open topped. This means it is easy to get shot out of the vehicle and have it be captured by the enemy.

-Four seats (1 driver, 3 open top passenger)
-Seven inventory slots
-Costs 10 rmats
-Max speed of 16.5 m/s

The fastest vehicle in the game. Unfortunately, it is very inefficient in fuel consumption, only has two slots, and is open-topped (Meaning you can get shot off of the motorcycle). It is good for shorter ranged partisan operations and scouting. One of its strongest features is the ability of the passenger in the sidecar to use binoculars or a sidearm like a pistol or a revolver.

-Two seats (1 driver, 1 open top passenger)
-Two inventory slots
-Costs 85 bmats
-Max speed of 16 m/s (17.5 m/s with boost)

00MS “Stinger” (Colonial-Exclusive)
LMG + Bike that costs bmats. Can be devastating for hit and run tactics, uses fuel quickly though.

-Two seats (1 driver, 1 gunner)
-Two inventory slots
-Costs 110 bmats
-Max speed of 14.9 m/s (16.9 m/s with boost)

One of the strongest vehicles in the game is also very useful for partisan raids. If you have a full crew, 1 driver, and 6 soldiers on the back, with proper medical supplies and enough ammunition, the opposing team will have a very hard time stopping you. Even without a full crew and just 1 to 2 soldiers on the back, you can still wreak havoc on the enemy’s backlines. Keep in mind that the landing APC is quite slow offroad and requires a relatively large amount of fuel.

Vehicle
Info
AB-11 “Doru” (Colonial-Exclusive)
Literally one of the strongest vehicle in the game but with an MG strapped on top, no explaining is necessary.

-Eight seats (1 driver, 1 passenger, 1 gunner, 5 Infantry)
-Six inventory slots
-Costs 45 rmats
-Max speed of 5 m/s (6 m/s in water)

An amazing partisan vehicle that combines the Light tank, the Half-Track and the LUV into one vehicle. Armed with a Malone-Mk2, the scout tank is the most amazing partisan vehicle to date.

-Eight seats (1 driver, 1 gunner, 1 commander)
-Two inventory slots
-Costs 80 rmats
-Max speed of ???

(Referring to the Half-track, Light Tank, Storm tank, etc) Using armored vehicles in the enemy backlines is a very risky thing to attempt and would strongly recommend not to unless you have a very experienced crew. Acquiring one of these vehicles and the ammunition is simple, however, the hard part is having enough petrol to do everything you were planning to do. Many partisans overcome this problem by having another soldier drive a L.U.V which is filled with support supplies such as petrol and Bmats for the armored vehicles.

Other vehicles may be used for partisan missions, the ones listed above are just the popular ones. Be creative and try out different vehicles as well! For example, I’ve once used a harvester for one of my partisan missions, this was when harvesters were a lot more fuel-efficient, I brought it down from friendly territory and used it to farm their resources and despawn them. I don’t recommend this in the current state of the game as the harvester uses a lot more fuel than before, is slower offroad and is quite expensive.

Weapons/Loadout

As someone who will be working behind enemy lines without proper logistical support, you would want to equip yourself with enough supplies and ammunition to last a while. I do not recommend bringing too much, normally, I just bring a little over what I would bring as a frontline soldier. Remember, the more you take in your inventory, the more encumbered you will be. As a partisan, you will want to be fast enough to evade enemy defenses and QRF.
Here is an example of what I normally equip myself with:

**With satchels in the vehicle (it is in my inventory because i took it out)

I recommend bringing the weapon you are the best at in 1v1 combat, in my case, that would be the storm rifle. In addition to your small arm, a pair of binoculars is a must, this optical instrument will allow you to see enemies chasing you, look for a weak spot in the enemy defenses, and much more.

Equipment to bring depending on your objective:

Machine Gun – This may seem like an awkward item to bring, however, one of the most effective strategies as a partisan is to get into enemy backlines using a jeep and hop out with an HMG and melt anything. The damage output from the HMG is one of the highest in the game and combined with a jeep is devastating to the enemy team. All you need to do is crouch to fire and stand up to hop back in.

Satchel Charges – A partisan’s best friend; Satchel charges are the most powerful item in the game and very cost-efficient for what it does. 1 charge will destroy a garrison house and my rule is to always bring more than 5 satchel charges as the most amount any structure will require to take down is 5 (Not including player made concrete structures).
-This can be substituted with other explosives such as HE grenades or Mortar shells, however, these require a bit more man power and coordination.

Smoke Grenades – One of the least used items in the game. Many players fail to recognise the number of possibilities this one small item can offer. If thrown correctly, you will have a free pass through enemy defences.

Basic Materials/Hammer/Shovel – Bmats have a variety of uses on partisan missions, they may be used to create watchtowers in the enemy back lines or just to create a blockade on the road.

Radio Backpack – Many (including myself) would argue that this is a useless item on a partisan mission (Due to its encumbrance); however, it may occasionally be put to good use. It can be used to see through walls or mountains which you can’t while using your binoculars, or to simply look around in a 360° whilst inside of a foxhole. The radio pack is also a REQUIREMENT for spotting nukes by crouching and holding down the “H” key.

Common scenarios/FAQ

-Help!!!! I’m being chased by an enemy vehicle!
1. Try to lose them by driving away in a weird pattern.

2. Play mind games with them at the border of a region (travel and travel back).

3. Try to pull over ahead of them and give yourself cover, then drag your weapon and attempt to disable their vehicle or kill them. Use your vehicle as cover!!!

-My vehicle was disabled/destroyed by AI… 🙁
Pick up all your stuff from the vehicle’s inventory quickly and walk even if encumbered, if your target was a town hall, walk to it and destroy it. Destroying things without reset is still an effective strategy. Destroying Factories and Refineries annoy and slow the the enemy, although the facilities still stay.

-Help! I’m bad at combat Watch videos on Youtube of Foxhole veterans.

-I can’t see clearly at night!!
Turn your gamma up for the game in settings.

-How are people shooting me before I can see them?!
Some people set their screen to a 4:3 ratio to have increased FOV.

Closing Notes

The art of being a partisan requires a cunning and creative mind that can think on on the fly. Do anything (That doesn’t break the game’s rules) to slow down the enemy’s war effort and logistics, whether it be blowing things up or just simply creating a roadblock. There are still many secrets of which I have yet to share, but i’ll let you discover them on your own…
