Overview
This is just a list of things I’ve learn’t while playing Reassembly.(This guide is incomplete and I will be adding more over the course of DATA_CORRUPTED)
Foreword
This guide is my first guide so I would like lots of constructive criticism and suggestions.
I made this guide to collect anything obscure I knew about Reassembly in one place and share it with the community.
Tips
Factories don’t necessarily need to be exposed, they just need a place to grow the ship cores (this can lead to buginess as ships can get stuck)
This factory is as good as any.
“Red” ships and “Crystalline” ships use exactly the same hull parts (Penrose Zero = Crystallite)
=
The “Hostile Plants” faction’s laser spikes also do melee damage, just like the “Sentinel” faction
=
The “Reassembly” title has a ship core inside the “R” (It Glows!)
“Cuts Asteroids Like A Hot Knife Through Butter”
Yes, you heard/read me right! There is a weapon of mass destruction that can tear through (almost) anything! It is the Sentinel’s armor spikes, they have a large amount of health and once you are going fast enough, it can cut through:
-Asteroids
-Stations
-Ships
-Debris
-Agents
I don’t know how it works but if you cover yourself in them and you build up a decent speed, you can simply smash into any asteroid and it will be gone/cut in half!
There is a drawback, however, it seems that anything attached to the asteroid can stop you in your tracks at any reasonable speed, this means that any:
-plant
-yellow/hostile plant
-Bee buildings
-Borg buildings
-Terran asteroid bases
Can stop you
Terran station cores can also stop you because of their high mass and health.
But if you can avoid these things you can easily destroy Farmer stations and Agents with ease, and combined with the high health ratings, you could be indestructible (mostly).
You may also want to move ALL your engines to the inside of the ship to protect them from asteroid slicing and enemy fire.
“A Better Hot Knife”
I was wondering to myself whilst half asleep “How could I improve my asteroid destroyer?” and the most obvious thing to do is to make a saw blade! I discovered that simply constructing a spinner with an octogon of cubes + covering with armor spikes and enough thrusters in a spinner pattern you can completely eliminate the need to go fast. This almost removes the threat from any building (borg, bee) but I also learnt plant seeds/cores do NOT do melee, this means, no matter how fast you are, the plant seed will never be destroyed. Terran station cores also stop you, sadly.
A very good sawblade
pwns stations
pwns asteroids
now pwns buildings!
Farming
Farming is a big thing for anyone playing the “Farmer” faction as it’s a good source of R and can be unlocked early in the game. Here are a few tips to get a good farm.
-Artificial Asteroids-
The most obvious one would be to use the plant supporting hulls, great farms can be created by constructing a box (or hexagon/octagon/whatever you want) with a seed planter inside. These can be good for:
-keeping all the delicious R for yourself (you selfish person/spacerobot)
-quickly making money (duh)
-improving a stations fleet (by selling the accumulated R to a station)
-building a fleet (with a factory)
-spraying seeds everywhere! (cause why not?)
-looking organic (because everyone wants a killer machine of death to be beautiful on the inside!)
-growing plants (because you totally can’t do this on a “normal” asteroid, totally!)
-Weeding-
Remember to weed your garden by killing any long, green plants in the area (they spread like a virus sometimes) as these can block the growth of your crops! All weapons are effective but lasers work best.
-Look For Good Spots-
The small stature of these plants means they can fit in really small spaces, things to look for are:
-holes (you can also make your own)
-small asteroid fields (again, you can cheaply and efficiently make one by spawning a bunch of tiny stations covered in walls)
-Large, barren asteroids (these are great cause they are (mostly) covered in spikes and have no “weeds”)
(If you want to improve a station’s fleet, just shoot seeds onto an asteroid near the station and wait (the plants will only grow with you around))
-Be Near Stations-
Being near a station can:
-Get you quick money
-Produce a massive fleet (for the station, last time i did this about 3 “Battlestars” popped up, you can also hire these ships for huge coolness)
-Make lag
-Interesting things-
I have caught plants growing on odd things. They can be seen growing on:
-Asteroids (meh)
-Farmer Ships (meh)
-Shipwrecks (dunno, I’ve seen it)
-Deactivated Stations (probably just to add that sense of abandonment)
-Other Plants (Hostile Plant’s pods)
-Other Faction’s Stations (Terrans, for example)
Factions
-Teleporters-
Two factions have teleporters (as far as I know)
Terrans have teleporters on their teleporter stations (obviously, they also don’t seem to have a factory)
The “Flies” all have teleporters (it’s in their “sensoria” or their version of a command module).
It also seems that in the beta “Z” seems to act as a teleport button, this could point towards teleportation in the future.
-Borg-
It seems that the “Borg” faction is used mainly for the text on the front pages spelling out “Reassembly”
-Hidden Factions-
There are also a few (2) hidden factions.
-“Jellyfish”-
This faction isn’t really a faction, they do not appear ingame and are only as a palette in the Sandbox mode, they are colorful (taking on a bright sky blue and orange for color).
-“Asteroids”-
This “faction” is just a palette of parts for creating asteroids (type “palette 100” to see what i mean)
Interestingly, this faction also has a command module (named “Null”), which is square (one of a kind) and a reasonably sized block (also called “Null”).
-Building Plants-
From what I can assume, the buildings in the “Borg” and Bee factions are actually plants using the buildings as their template. If anyone didn’t know, the plants are not procedurally generated and they have a faction devoted to them. This would also explain the presence of the “root” parts only being part of the faction because it is used on the buildings.
-Solar Generators-
The Farmer faction actually have the worst solar panels of them all (being large and only generating 0.2 R/s). The Tinkrell have the best obtainable solar panels (firstly, they are square, they are also smaller and make more R/s). But the plant fatction has a range of “leaves” that range from triangles comparable to hulls to hexagons the size of entire small ships, the largest triangle produces 0.9 R/s (faster than every other NOPE, the “Hostile Plants” faction has the “Pod Command” that generates an astonishing 5R/s!) and is also easier to manipulate than the large Tinkrell solar panel (being a triangle). Obviously, all this goodness comes at a price, that price being it is impossible to get them without editing your save. The station modules for the Bee and “Borg” faction also make R, the station module for the Bee faction is also incredibly lightwheight compared to other station modules (Terran) and the “Borg” module is ship sized.
