Overview
A list of things you can do in IKEA VR Experience.
Introduction
Regarding images, I’m trying to get my HTC Vive to work, so those screenshots are just placeholders.
This VR guide serves to inform users of the wonderful features of IKEA VR Experience, which is free for all and free for life.
Reading this VR guide is not an absolute must, but if you need some VR hand-holding, the guide will expose you to all VR features in the game brought to you by Swedish multinational group of companies that design and sell DIY accessories and furniture.
The IKEA Pencils
A favorite pasttime of all IKEA customers is to steal the pencils. While this is generally frowned upon in real life, it seems like there is an infinite supply of VR pencils to steal and doodle all over the VR store.
There’s a locked VR drawer marked as “AKEI” in one of the VR study rooms, perhaps these VR pencils are the keys to that drawer? This guide, at time of post, does not have information on the locked VR drawer.
Living Rooms
Walk into the magnificent VR space allocated for the living room!
Admire the VR fabrics of the sofas, gaze at the stellar-inspired VR cosmic wallpapers, enjoy the VR sunshine pouring through the windows. There are even VR pencils that you can pick up and doodle around if you want.
Don’t be shy, we all can relive our younger artists days and the VR Director will automatically clean off all drawings made by the VR IKEA Pencils.
Unfortunately, sense of touch of the fabrics is not included in this VR experience.
Toys Section
Bring your kids into the VR Experience, and leave them to play and reenact their fabulous fairy tales while you take your virtual tour around the IKEA store. VR Toys can be custom-designed and imported into the local VR Experience settings, which allow your kids to play any VR toys that they so desire.
Remember that cartoon about ponies and friendship being magic? VR Check.
The one about five heroes in different colored suits and able to employ colossal sized robots to defeat the enemy? VR Check.
How about the recent movie where a fox and a rabbit teammed up together to solve a mystery? Doubly VR check!
Study Room
For people who watched certain shows about VR, you might be wondering how the characters in the story could use VR to study for their real-life examinations. This is completely possible with the magnificent and cozy VR rooms arranged in such a way that you can invite friends online to your study room and work together to solve those nasty mathematics questions!
Some rooms are fitted with VR computers for you to take your VR a step further into virtual-virtual reality, also known as V-VR, or Vsquared R. Players with the VR IKEA pencils can sketch on the surfaces to discuss their diagrams and solutions, and if desired, leave the sketches for the next users to learn from your VR teachings.
The possibilities are definitely endless with the VR Study Room, so it is recommended to invite your friends.
Bedrooms
Due to Steam agreements, this guide can only discuss the cleaner side of the VR bedrooms.
The most important factor in the IKEA VR bedroom section would have been the feel of the beddings, but this VR Bedroom section seemed particularly aimed at bedroom renovation and furnishing layouts.
Get inspired for your dream bedroom by taking screenshots of the VR sample layouts and find out which store near you could be selling what you need.
Sometimes, you may feel a little exhausted from your first time in VR Experience, so the beds in the VR Bedroom would allow you to regenerate VR stamina.
Cafeteria
Swedish food is never nearer to you!
While you can’t taste the food, you can quickly see what IKEA usually sells in their cafe. VR players are able to organize their own VR kitchen tours of the cafeteria and see how their food has always been prepared in all IKEA cafeterias.
If the VR Study Rooms are filled, the VR Cafeteria is yet another place great for meet-ups, except that music will be played in this section, so for those seeking a quieter time studying are advised to login to the VR Experience earlier than others.
First come, first VR served.
EDIT: There have been discussions about the menu on the VR cafeteria. As far as the guide notes, the menu for each person is random and can range from common Swedish fares such as the VR Gravlax and VR Marzippan (princess cake) to more conventional fares such as the VR Hot Dog. As this is a VR Experience, it has been noted that the VR meatballs are safe for consumption by vegetarian players, and can aid in restoring VR stamina.
VR PVP
What is an online game without PVP?
Apparently, users of the IKEA VR Experience can pick up items around the VR store and throw at other VR players, or engage in any VR fantasy battles they so desire.
Relive the Battle of Carthage with the VR toys available in the VR Toy Section, or register with the VR PVP Competition known as IKEA: VR Offensive or IKEA:VRO and shoot your way to VR victory with VR nerf guns!
Again, do not worry about damaging any of the VR goods, as the IKEA VR Director would clean up after you are done.
