Overview
Hello everybody! This guide will teach you proper usage of tiles in the editor, and hopefully make your future prisons look better and more proffesional. This will also have a few things that you can do to make your map harder, and things NOT to do if you want it to be escapeable. (Note: This is my first guide I’ve ever made, but I will try my best to make it good.)This guide is currently abandoned. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had interest in playing the game, and a longer time since I’ve wanted to continue with this guide. Someday I may come back to it, but right now I have no plans to, so don’t count on it. I apologize to people who wanted more with this, but I just have no real interest in continueing.
Walls and Towers
Walls and sniper towers are some of the biggest problems I see in a lot of maps, but also some of the simplest to do properly. This section will tell you how to do them properly.
Outer walls start with the upper Outer Wall tiles. They look like this:
Use these (including the corners!) to make the upper part of your wall. Then use the lower brick tiles beneath them.
Also, please use the other tiles underneath the lower right and lower left tiles:
Here’s a picture of a finished outer wall, if the above instructions were too confusing.
These are pretty simple, just remember to use all the intersection peices.
Also note that the placement of some of these in the tileset is a bit confusing, so here’s an image to show where they all are:
And here’s a picture of a finished wall that uses all the wall tiles:
Pretty simple.
These are one of the things I see messed up the most. First of all, the sniper object says TOWER guard. Don’t put them in some location, put them in towers.
Here’s what a tower is supposed to look like:
Now there’s a few ways of integrating them into outer walls, but here’s how I belive it’s supposed to be done:
Detectors and Doors
Contraband detectors and doors are another thing I see messed up often. it’s pretty simple though, so let’s get to it.
These are pretty simple, all you need to know, is that this looks bad:
and this looks correct:
So basically, the thing I’m trying to get at here, is do not have your contraband detectors out in the open. Enclose them somehow.
