Tips for your first 30 minutes in DreamScapes Dimensions

Overview

This short guide is designed to help new players in their first session in DreamScapes. The game is currently pre-alpha and so subject to constant changing, but the screenshots and information were correct when this guide was created. I will update it when necessary. The game is designed for players to find out things for themselves, but I have just covered a few things that people have asked about in chat and on Steam.I hope it helps.

When you first spawn.

When you spawn for the first time in DreamScapes you will arrive here.
At this point, people tend to want to wander around and explore but you need to do as the instructions say. Just go forward to the building in front of you.

Now, this is where new players get confused. They talk about ‘floating books’ and can’t see the way to get in the door. The icon is actually a door, and you just pass straight through it.

The building you have entered is known as The Adventurer’s Guild. One of many guilds that are planned.

You need to go forwards to the staircase and go down to visit the first NPC quest giver. Thacknor. As I type this you need to left click the NPCs (to select), then right click and then left click for the conversation to start ,but the developer has just informed me that one click interaction is next on the list!

Thacknor gives you a quest. Follow his instructions and meet the next NPC. Again, left click, right click, left click and complete the quest.
Returning downstairs to Thacknor and interacting with him gets you your first set of weapons. He also advises you to go the the trainer in the large hall (where you came in). You can interact with her for information, but you can also just stand in the hall and press R to bring up the skill training system.
To upgrade your skills you uses practices. You have a few to start with, but you get more for each level you achieve in combat. I strongly advise you to think about your build, and your game play style, before using your initial practices. I went for dagger (which leads to sword), some players go for the fireball spell as they intend to take a mage path. When you use the practice, the skill improves by a percentage each time. At this point people want to drag the skill to the F2 hotbar, but if it is a weapon you need to equip the weapon in the inventory (press I) screen first.
Place the weapon in place of the hand. Then drag that weapon down to the F2 box and drop. The icon should appear there. Now press R and drag the icon for the skill you want to the number hotbar.
At this point you have the first of many choices. The next quest starts just outside the front door, or you can go downstairs, through the door near Thacknor, and test your combat skills against rabbits, slimes, bats et al. Click to target, press the number on the hotbar to attack, and don’t underestimate those bunnies! Actually, on that level of the arena, it’s bats you have to watch out for.
If you choose to go outside for the next quest, speak to the stone miner.

He will ask you to perform a combat quest, but my advice is, practice with the slimes and bunnies first. Follow the starting quests, or just use the areana and dungeons to level.
There are MANY aspects to the game, I recommend completing the questline that gives you a follower. (Which starts with this NPC)
That follower will be your wingman, body guard and new best friend..Trust me.
There’s harvesting, crafting, house building and that’s just right now. Want to level fast? Get your follower and rerun the small dungeon again and again!
The game is not that easy to get into, but it rewards long term play, if you have the patience for it.
I hope this guide at least helps you to get started. Message me ingame and I will help if I can.
