Super Hexagon Guide

Tired of music during the game? Try this! for Super Hexagon

Tired of music during the game? Try this!

Overview

This Tutorial will guide you, how to change or mute the game music! With every way I will explain, what the effects are and how to do it.

Change the standard music with your own music

This one will be needed:

  • Your Music Files (from music0 to music5)
  • Extra Space for standard music

Steps
You need to change the game files under “data/music”. To do it correctly, open explorer and go to the Steam Installation Folder (Standard Steam Installation with Super Hexagon: “C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonSuper Hexagon”) or with “Preferences -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files” to jump right into Super Hexagon Installation Folder.

After opening explorer with game installation, browse into “data/music”. Before doing any changes, I’d recommend to make a backup of the “music” folder. If you don’t like it to do it manually, {LINK REMOVED}download it from here or open this link: {LINK REMOVED}https://www.mediafire.com/file/t4xk6ab1weebsj0/music.zip/file

Now you can edit files in the game safely. Do any song you like and rename it.
Tutorial: music0.dat
Hexagon: music1.dat
Hexagoner: music2.dat
Hexagonest: music3.dat
Black-And-White: music4.dat
Ending: music5.dat
Copy and paste inside “data/music”. Replace them if you didn’t delete them.

Mute Music (No Hexagon Pulse)

This one might be tricky. For this I used my Xbox 360 Controller to trigger it.

The effects are, that the song is fading away and during that, the next song cannot be played. That means, it is needed to do it fast.

On a Keyboard:
Open any stage and play for sometime. If you want to trigger it, double-click ESCAPE. When the stage selector is shown, don’t wait and click SPACE quickly as you can. After that you can play without music, but the girly voice (who needs it anyway) won’t be muted.

On a Controller:
Similar as on Keyboard, double click (Go back) button and as “Stage Selector” is shown, click “Select” as fast as you can to trigger it.

There could be YouTube Videos for this Tutorial. I’m sorry if i couldn’t record it. I recently don’t have much time for something like this. I just got a free day today so I could at least relax.

Only mute

For not taking any file risks, this one is very easy. Just open Super Hexagon, go to Options and make sure, that Text from “Disable Sounds” is checked as “Enable Sounds”

Enable Sounds: everything is muted
Disable Sounds: everything is played (what to trigger to play a sound or music file)
