Top Ten Greatest Undertale Songs for Undertale

Top Ten Greatest Undertale Songs

Overview

This is not as much a guide as much as it is a suggestion of the best songs Toby Fox ever made.

10: Bergentrukung (Asgore’s Theme)

Bergentrukung:
During the fight with Asgore, his dramatic song begins, and he throws the trident through the Mercy button. The battle begins, with an amazing soundtrack. If you listen closely, you can here the song “Determination” play in the background. The song puts a feeling of undesirable royalty, which matches perfectly. Toby Fox did an amazing job on Bergentrukung, but this is just number 10 on our list.

9: Bonetrousle (Papyrus’s Theme)

Bonetrousle:
Not only is the name funny, but so is the song and owner. Papyrus was one of the most lovable characters we know. Hearing his theme prepared us for that pasta-lover. The “battle” begins with the original theme we’ve all heard, but after Papyrus’s special attack, the theme gets real. A new drum has been placed in, letting you know that he’s getting serious. (He’s not, but no one wants to hurt his feelings.) Who could’ve survived Undertale without this huggable character and his brother by your side?

8: Megalovania (Sans’s Theme)

Megalovania:
Okay, I kind of told you what song was going to be next. This song only plays on the genocide route, when Sans can’t hold it in any longer. He was tired of you ruthlessly murdering everyone in sight. Once his brother died, Sans lets you know how terrible of a person you are by being the easiest, but hardest boss you have ever encountered. The song sounds like a song of revenge, which is exactly what it is. His speach is strange but somewhat heartbreaking. Once you strike the blow that kills him, he says that he’sw going to Grillby’s and meet Papyrus again. He walks off screen and you hear him fade away.
Fun Fact: Megalovania was not origanally part of the Undertale soundtrack. It was a halloween prank song.

7: Spear of Justice (Undyne’s Theme)

Spear of Justice:
Undyne is certainly brave, and her theme song proves it. She will defend the liberty and freedom for monsterkind. She stops you in your tracks, just so that monsters will be free. She gets quite mad when you dodge all her attacks. While running away from her you can see her hatred of Sans’s laziness. The theme song changes pitch everytime you battle, increasing the atmosphere. Fortunately, you can prove your kindness by pouring water on her after she is dying of heat. This is not the only theme song you can hear from her, though…

6: Battle Against a True Hero (Undyne the Undying’s Theme)

Battle Against a True Hero:
As we said before, Undyne proves herself worthy of being the bravest monster of all. On the genocide route, you attempt to kill Monster Kid, but Undyne steps in the way, and you slash her in half. She gives a speach about never giving up, while a hero’s death music plays. Just as she is about to die, she transforms into Undyne the Undying, and an undescribeable music starts playing (Please guess the word I can’t remember in the comments). It gives you a sense of bravery, and in this instance, Undyne is the True Hero.

5: Undertale (I’ll explain it in the description)

Undertale:
In case you didn’t know, Undertale is also the name of a song – in Undertale. It was the song that played when all the monsters were telling you the story of Chara and Asriel. Personally, it made me cry; it was the saddest song I have ever heard. It starts very calm and peaceful, and slowly grows to become more beautiful and sad. It makes you think better than the 8-bit game you see. Toby Fox created this song to be sad, and we can see he did his job well.

4: His Theme (Asriel’s Normal Theme)

His Theme:
His Theme is just another version of the song Undertale. It is extremely beautiful and consists of glockenspeil, piano, violin, snare, and crash symbals. The song starts off slowly and adds three more instruments before dying down again. All in all, we can agree that His Theme fits well on this list.

3: Another Medium (Hotland Theme)

Another Medium:
Once you enter Hotland, Another Medium starts up. It’s an electronic song, like most of the other songs on this list. One thing I like about this song, like I’ve said on the others, is that it matches so well with the area. There’s not much else I can say about this song, just the rhythm is so cool.

2: It’s Raining Somewhere Else (Sans’s Toriel Speech)

It’s Raining Somewhere Else:
When Sans takes you out to the MTT Restaurant, he tells you about the lady he met behind the big door in the woods. The lady loved Sans’s jokes, and she even made her own. While this nostalgic speech is going on, a song named “It’s Raining Somewhere Else.” Some have theorized why this is the name, and I will not give my opinion towards it. The song is kind of a jazzy – blues style music, with a piano, a guitar, a vibraphone, and some extra music. We have one more song to go, so fasten your seatbelts…

1: Hopes and Dreams (Asriel’s Battle Theme)

Hopes and Dreams:
After Flowey absorbs the souls and becomes Asriel, he mistakes you for Chara (or whatever character you named the fallen child) and is confused at why you’re so kind. The song is orchastral for the most most part, and gets on that ‘lectric guitar. This bossfight is of the most original and special bossfight of all, and deserves a great music to go along with it.

Honerable Mention: Here Comes Napstablook/Dummy!

Of course, it’s a top ten list, so it’s gotta have an honerable mention. Mine is the two super-similar songs Here Comes Napstablook and Dummy! Honestly, (Haha get it “honer”able, “honest”ly? … nevermind) similar to Another Medium, I can’t say anything about the two ghost monsters’ themes. They are just cool.

Shoutout to Elu Tran for creating the music!
