Purpose of this guide
The default in Tropico 5 is to only have one kind each of large and small gardens. Clearly, this is unacceptable for any island nation worthy of the name Tropico!
This simple guide allows you to access the game’s full complement of gardens with an easy configuration tweak.
All sixteen luscious arrangements of greenery will soon be yours!
Cycle models with the , and . keys
After selecting a small or large garden from the build menu, press the , or . key to cycle through the models.
Why Kalypso did not see fit to document this anywhere most people can find it, only el Presidente knows!
Alternatively, configure your keys
Allow me to blow your mind:
- Load your game or start a new one
- Hit ESC to bring up the main menu
- Choose “Settings“
- Choose “Hotkeys“
- Scroll to “Large Garden” (they’re alphabetical)
- Assign whichever keys you like to “Large Garden 1” through “Large Garden 6”
- I like Y U I O P ] since I don’t use those for anything else
- Do the same for “Small Garden 1-10“
- I like the number keys 1-0, again because I don’t use them for anything else
- Build whichever gardens embody your vision of Tropican perfection!
Note that you must cancel your build order (AKA right-click to get back to the main view) before switching to a different garden model.
