Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Guide

True grit for assaults. for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

True grit for assaults.

Overview

True Grit = True Man Every perk in the game gives you at least small advantage, but so many players in the game say to me that True Grit perk is True Disadvantage perk. This guide is made in general for people to open their eyes: every perk is useful if you are able to use it right.I hope the reader already knows assault’s basic moves, so i free myself from writing it.Listen, battle brother, you need to remember: Never attack only with bolter when alone. Bolter exists to support, to supress and to finish. Better to have Impenetrable as following perk to have less chances of being shot while firing with bolter. Always try to stay on a middle range when you are shooting.Facts:1 bolt pistol shot deals damage twice as much 1 bolter shot.Bolter has 3 times more ammo in the clip.Rapidity of each weapon: similar in proportion. Both weapons damage armor less than health. Both weapons have increased damage for headshots. The conclusion: bolter is useful in pursuit and finishing. It can be used not only for fun, but for creating effective battlestyle.

Multiplayer

Open matches

Witness Raven Guard’s Chaplain
In open matches i’d like to recommend to take Axe as a melee weapon, because it has enough strenght to take down the armor of any enemy and much faster then hammer does it (NOT THE MTFCKNG LAGHAMMER)

So as an axeman you need to make a first hit by melee and then finish the enemy by bolter from the air or middle-range. It works very good against tacticals or devastators. Tacticals can have Larraman’s blessing as devastators can equip artificial armor, so you need to deal at least small damage in order to deny their fast recover. Try to outsmart your enemies. Land behind their backs, think of every next step and throw grenades to the places where they try to move. Don’t be afraid of any weapon with Impenetrable perk, you will survive after ANY single shot, so you will be able to retreat after dealing damage in close combat.
When you are in attacking position, strike fast with axe and then take off the ground or jump back to the middle range, so the enemy won’t hit you with close combat attacks and also won’t be ready to shoot.
Here’s the classic example.

Also you can use small jumps against tacticals, it’s more effective if you know your enemy doesn’t have meltagun. Small jump takes off the whole armor and you will be able to do a bolterkill easy enough. Useless against blurring/warping enemies.

It’s harder to fight against assaults with an axe. Especially when your enemy has a sword. Use all you can, but try to use axe only when sure you won’t get stun in the face or 2-3 sword hits. If you are sure you have no time for that, try to land on the enemies’ head or injure him with small jump melee attack. Be careful.
But
After your enemy has lost armor, get him with bolter staying on the middle range.
Don’t forget about your teammates, try to defend them from above and help with finishing injured enemy marines.

For your safety: Let the enemy follow you to your teammates and finish him with their help. It’s very comfortable to shoot at the enemy which is stunned by your battle brother.
Avoid crowds of enemies, try to split them up by throwing grenades and supressing with bolter fire. To kill a devastator you need to be sure he is alone or you have a company to cover your back.

If you don’t like axe for some reasons, you can still use bolter with sword. The main idea of having this loadout is killing assaults and tacticals. You should act more like a usual swordsman, but be more careful with shooting (watch 3rd main rule: stay on the mid-range).

Duel matches

1 versus 1 is also interesting to play. It’s about being smart and skillful. Actually there’s nothing special in duel matches for true grit. Better to use it with axe against tacticals and devastators or with sword against assaults. Remember to stay on the middle range and to stay focused.
You need to use all you know in 1v1 with a good partner. Don’t forget about small jumps as alternative melee attack.
Watch this: RAX plays with axe&bolter 1st time and sometimes plays scary good. Also he’s throwing flashbangs like Batman uses smoke grenades. Some moves are definetly worth seeing.

Exterminatus

Main rules are the same.
If you lost your shield, get in the cover and wair for it to recharge.
And don’t forget you are a support, not a tank.

0. Cooperate with your friends, cover each other backs. Assaults aer able to fly away and tacticals can roll, so you both have more chances to go away. Also that means you must cover your devastators, especially Heavy bolter guys. If you see some boyz coming behind them – cut them with your axe. Mix attacks, stun the enemies with your landings and you will kill them all or at least will give time to your Heavy bolter mate to go away. Other loadouts are not that vulnerable, but still their owners don’t mind your help. Take an amunition: Flashbangs. It will stop almost all types of enemies in the radius. 2 grenades will blind and stun EVERYONE for 3 seconds, so it’s perfect way to save your allies from a crowd of hammers/black nobs.

1. WAAAAAAAAAGH. Khm, orcs.
Orcs are easy target. But when they swarm, they can kick everyone’s ass. Split them up. Don’t go for the heads of orcs with choppas or chainswords. Remember, your targets are: shootaz and nobs. Shooting nobs are dying pretty good, just stun and hit them with axe, shoot between the hits in the head… JUST PURGE XENOS. Melee nobs are not that easy to kill for this loadout. just stun them with your shoulder (charge) and hit with an axe. Repeat in order not to let him hit you, don’t attack alone. Black nobs… stay at the range, shoot with bolter. Believe me, it always helps. Also distract them with your moves and stun by landing on their heads if they get close to your battle brothers.

2. SPESS MEHREENS Space Marines/Chaos Marines.
And they shall know no fear.
Better to cooperate with a laserguner or probably tacticals with melta. Notice the targets that are hit by laser and don’t let them recover the armor!
Remember to kill plasmas (and lasers, if you are playing as chaos marine) first! They are very dangerous, so if everyone ignore them, it’s your job to kill them. But better to remind them of killing plasmas first and go for their heads with a company.
Killing usual axemen and swordsmen are becoming secondary if you see a hammer running right on you or your brother. Again, shoot for not letting them recover their armor.

3. Another perks and weapons.
Axeman’s zeal could be useful on the 1st waves, but on other arenas Impenetrable will help more than any other perk. If you’d like to try bolter with a sword, swordsman’s zeal would be more useful than zeal with an axe, because sword is faster and fast hits are more important for zeal on a battlefield. Also you can try death from above, but that perk makes your bolter not that useful due to different battle styles.
