[Tutorial] Dedicated Server Install & Setup

Overview

This is a quick guide for people that are wanting to install and run dedicated servers. Before reading this installation please take into account that you will need to port forward. If your router does not support this. I am sorry but this is not the tutorial for you

Port Forwarding

This is a very quick and simple stage but it is the first one that we need to take. You need to login to your router and you will need to port forward so other people can connect to your server. You need to forward port “27015”

Setting Up & Installation

This is a quick and easy section that will guide you through the process of installation and setup.

Step 1. Create a New Folder where you want to locate the server ( i.e C:nmrihserver)

Step 2. Download SteamCMD. Click Here

Step 3. Place SteamCMD in a folder ( i.e D:SteamCMD ) as it creates a lot of files and folders.

Step 4. Open SteamCMD and type what you see inside of the speech marks:

“login anonymous” – Press Enter. This just logs you in to be able to continue
“force_install_dir your-install-path-goes-here” – Press Enter. This sets the install directory
“app_update 317670” – Press Enter. This will now start installing all needed files for the server.

Step 5. Open the folder that you installed the server into. Create a text file and open it.

Step 6: Save the notepad file as “Save as…” and make sure it is a .bat format.

Step 7: Paste the following code into your start file and save:

Step 8: Locate to DriveLetter:YourServerPathnmrihcfg

Step 9: Create a new text file and name is “server.cfg”. Make sure this file is a .cfg file

Step 10. Paste the code from (Click Here[pastebin.com]) and save

Step 11. Run “start.bat” and your server should start. If not you have done something.

If correctly installed. Once the start.bat file is ran this should pop up.

Updating The Server

To update your server you will need SteamCMD so if you deleted it, you will need to go and download it again.

Step 1: Open SteamCMD

Step 2: Type into SteamCMD the following:
“login anonymous” – Press enter. This is just logging you in to continue
“force_install_dir your-install-path-goes-here” – Press Enter. This sets the update directory
“app_update 317670” – Press Enter. Let it update

Step 3: Close SteamCMD and you should now be good to go.
