Age of Empires II (2013) Guide

Unique Units that are strong against other Unique Units in FE and AK for Age of Empires II (2013)

Unique Units that are strong against other Unique Units in FE and AK

Overview

I made this guide to show you what unique units from the whole AoE2 are good against the ones added in FE and AK, and what unique units from those expansions are good against one and other. This is under heavy development (W.I.P.). If you have any suggestions please leave them down below, and I will test them myself.

How to beat the Organ Gun

I first figured this out against the AI, I was the britons, he was the portuguese. I only made longbowmen, because I knew they are very powerful 😀

The army of the AI was mainly made out of organ guns and halberdiers, and my longbows went ham. With little to no micro and focus fire, the halbs and the very few other units the AI had went down crazy fast, and the organ guns only required a few shots to be taken down. And as the organ guns are very expensive, I got an economical advantage as well.

To fight back against the longbows as the portuguese, I would suggest using caravels from the water and a lot of cavalry and onagers, and even bombard cannons would do a good job. Your defenses won’t help, since the longbows have a longer range than the castles’ and towers’, so it’s mostly a good idea to fight the britons from water if possible.

How OP the Kamayuks are against Shotels

I was playing 1v1 with my friend Donut1337 here on Steam. I was the incas, while he chose the ethiopians, and we were playing on the Earth map. I quicly built up my economy and started making kamas. Before I could make any army though, he decided to charge me with shotels. He did a lot of damage until the kamas came out, and after that, it was a perfect battle for me. Kamayuks and Trebuchets make for a great siege combination, and you can always get some slingers or skirmishers behind to take out those pesky archers.

I think why the Kamas are so good against shotels (well, against most not ranged units, I guess) is because of their extra reach and the shotels low health. Before a kama even gets hurt by a shotel, the shotel is at half health already. Two kamas standing side by side will NOT get hit by one Shotel that is charging at them. The Kamayuks can fight a 1 and a half larger army of shotels before truly falling down.

A good way (and kinda the only one) to fight against the kamas for any civilization is using archers and ranged siege (not trebs though).

All my respect to Donut1337, he fought well but his shotels are just not strong enough against the kamas.
