Unstoppable White Army for Magic 2015

Unstoppable White Army

Overview

A short guide explaining how (if you’re lucky), you can make an invincible white army.

How to Make an Unstoppable White Army

This guide is based on my own deck, a pure white health focused deck. The two cards that are most important for this plan are Palisade Guard (Cost 4 mana and 2 plains) and Aegis Angel (also cost 4 mana and 2 plains). The cards are admittadly quite rare, but I had no problem getting them through progression in game.
In case you are not familiar with the cards, here they are.
What is important about these cards is their abilities. Palisade Giant absorbs all damage done to you or any of your creatures. Aegis Angel can make any creature other than itself invincible for as long as it remains on the battlefield. Combined, this can make a nearly impossible to stop pair. If you play Palisade Giant first and make sure it survives until Aegis Angel is played, you can use Aegis Angel to make Palisade Giant invincible. Congratulations, you now have an invincible creature that soaks up all damage dealt to you or your creatures. This means that you can attack with all your creatures without worrying about them being destroyed by the opponent’s creatures, or worrying about a devastating counterattack. You can attack with impunity, which will very quickly wipe away your opponents health.
Of course, your army can be stopped. If your opponent has a “Destroy Target Creature” card, they can destroy your Aegis Angel and unravel your plan. This cannot be avoided. For going against decks without that type of card, this combination is unstoppable.
In order to make your deck, make sure to include as many Palisade Giants and Aegis Angels that you can. Of course, you have to survive long enough to get those cards out there, so you also need lots of weaker creature cards. My deck contains many creatures that help you gain life, such as Lone Missionary or Rhox Faithmender. If you do choose to include these types of cards, I also recommend Angelic Accord. This card allows you to get a 4/4 white angel with flying every turn you gain at least 4 life. Using this, and your life gaining cards, you can quickly create a large, powerful, flying army. Once this army is made invincible by the Aegis Angel/Palisade Giant combo, you can deal huge amounts of damage per turn (I dealt about 70 damage on my last turn one game).

I hope this helps those looking for a good pure white deck, and happy hunting!
