Overview
Commands for a more fun coop only experience with friends. e.g No player zombies and no infection.
Why use these commands?
This is how I like to play with friends, I really wish there was a dedicated coop mode with respawns for survivors instead of spawning as a zombie. I know its not designed for this but to be honest I want to play with friends, working against the AI instead of eachother.
I find being a zombie kind of boring expecially if you’re playing with 1 other friend. And lets face it the player base isnt that large anymore so most likely you’ll be playing with one or two friends.
With these commands you can disable zombie respawns and infection. You can still DIE though so you need to be careful. If you have died and quit and then rejoin you will still be a cockroach/player zombie and the only way to respawn as a survivor is to restart round (command below). I tried a bunch of commands to fix this but its not possible unless the devs change it, its something to do with your steam id being logged somewhere in the server. If there was a way to alter this then spawning again as a survivor (albeit back at the start of the map) would be possible. I’m open to suggestions.
The commands.
Using the ~ key (the key left of the 1 key) you can enter these commands, some might not do much, I’ve only done a little experimenting.
(you might need to enable the developer console in the settings)
//After the map loads copy paste the commands below
cg_zombie_ai_only 1
//This command should prevent player zombies.
cg_infection_disabled 1
//Disables infection, but i swear a few rounds it hasnt worked.
ce_playerjointime 9000000
//This sometimes doesnt work, or im not using it right. After the round starts if a player joins outside the time they join as a zombie or a spectator. If this happens you can restart the round with sv_restart_round 1
sv_cheats 1
//Enables all talk to be entered, basically if any commands don’t work you need to enable cheats. (personally i dont use ammo cheats etc)
sv_alltalk 1
//Allows chatting while dead or spectating (i think)
sv_restart_round 1
//Restarts the round, useful if you screw up not far into the map.
Changelevel Ce_montclair
//This changes the map.
Final Thought.
If you’re gearing up to write a post about why the game should be played this way or that way just stop and save your effort. The only time I ever play is with my friends and we despise attacking each other as player zombies, basically if one of us dies then we would either restart the round or if we’re really far into the map we just go AFK until the next map loads.
This game is awesome coop, I understand why there are player zombies and so on but its a part of the game that I enjoy the least. If anyone knows more commands please post them, maybe there will be a way to enable survivor respawns and we just don’t know it yet.
