Useful Console Commands for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Useful Console Commands

Overview

Firstly, in order to access the console, press `,note that sometimes the console will force you to type in CAPS, try to get it to not do that, because it can prevent you from using periods/punctuation marks, etc.Let’s start off with some basics, when you click on an object, it will select it’s ID, which means if you want to specifically alter said object, you click on said object while using the console, click again to click off it, should also be noted that scrolling also changes the PRID you’re accessing,if a command needs or can use a target, I will add an asterisk to it,If you want to do some player specific changes, you can use player commands,Here are some good player-specific commands, player.setav [ability/skill] [value]player.advlevel (this gives you the level up screen)player.additem [item ID] [value]player.placeatme [actor ID] [value] (note, it places a copy of that entity at you, not the entity in question, so don’t use it to find lost followers)player.moveto [actor ID] (this moves the player to the NPC)there are also useful commands such as (and please do not have any targets on or they will not work)tgm (which toggles god mode, infinite health, magicka, stamina, etc.)tcl (which toggles noclip)tfc (which toggles free camera)coc [cell ID] (teleports you to a specific cell)there is alsoshowracemenu (which lets you access the character creation screen, note that it resets your minor skills and minor skill governed spells)showclassmenu (lets you access the class creation screen)showbirthsignmenu (lets you change your birthsign)showspellmaking (brings up the spell creation menu)qqq (exits the game)movetoqt (moves you to the quest target, multiple quest targets is a big no-no by the way)now for commands you’re gonna wanna use for NPCs or other things,PRID [ID] (if you cant access the target in front of you, just use this and it will target them, make sure you know the ID of the actor)*resurrect (resurrects a fallen NPC, note the NPC must be targeted, also, if the target is say, a brick wall, or your character, then it will kinda glitch out the game and reset your minor skills, oof)*moveto player (moves an NPC to you, the NPC must be alive for it to work)*SetActorFullName “name” (changes the name of an npc, this is how Wilburgur changed the Adoring Fan’s name to “Sex Slave Boy” and Martin Septim to “Sean Bean”)*lock (locks a container)*unlock (unlocks a locked container)*sexchange (changes the characters sex when no targets are selected or changes the target’s sex)*kill (kills an entity, if you want, you can type killall, which kills every entity in your vicinity that has been loaded, except for you)If you found any of the above terminology to be confusing, let me explain, for example, player.setav can be confusing to some, but don’t worry, it’s really easy, the skill or ability you want to change are very easy to remember,if you forget one of them, simply go into your stats journal and see the name of the skill or ability, they are exactly the same as the name they use in-game, to an extent, for example, in-game it’s “Hand-to-Hand”, but in the console it’s just “handtohand”,in-game it’s “Light Armor”, but in the console it’s the same thing, just without the space, skill and ability values vary from 1 to 100 (or maybe 0, idk), whereas the values you can set for your magicka, health and stamina can be both negative and positive, and really have no limit, well, not really, there is a limit, but why would you need 7.63e158390 Health?for player.additem, you need to know the IDs of the items, unlike Skyrim, where you can type in help “insert thing you’re looking for here”, Oblivion is old, rusty and not advanced, and so when using the help command, it just shows the commands menu (which you can navigate with the pageup and pagedown keys, btw)Here are some useful IDs,f : f is the ID of money in a lot of Bethesda games, so if you want 1,500 Septims just type in “player.additem f 1500” and boom, you now have 1,500 more Septims than you originally had prior to entering the command,a : in Oblivion, this is the ID for lockpicks, in Skyrim it’s g, point is, if you want 300 lockpicks, do “player.additem a 300”, they’re weightless, so go nuts,if you are a cultured individual and indulge yourself in Tamriel’s most sought-after delicacies, here are the IDs of such :Skooma – 4E0A9Sweetroll – 3369Bif you want some more commands, here are some links and stuff :https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Console_Commands_(Oblivion)https://www.ign.com/wikis/the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion/PC_Cheatshttps://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:ConsoleEnjoy your undeserved power!
