v0.1.51 UI Indicators – How to Hunger/Water

Overview

A basic rundown of the new food and water (and some others) UI indicators and what they mean on the Character Screen as well as on the main HUD.Will be updated when more precise percentages and numbers are found, for now this is just giving you a general idea.

Character Sheet UI

  • The basic UI on the Character screen hasn’t changed much since the last update. Alot of the old HUD information has been moved here in the form of the additions of the icons above your dinosaur’s growth. This is the most information-filled screen for your Hunger and Thirst you will get in the game currently.
  • Hunger and Water, when full, are greyed out and do not blink or animate at all, similar to the bonebreak indicator or your stamina when not being used.

Hunger:

Hunger will be colored a soft white when it is not completely full. If it is in this state you do not have to worry too much about eating, however, you will most likely be topping off 15-25% or so of your total food capacity.

When hunger drops below a certain point (I belive it to be anywhere from 25-50%) it will show a fracture in the stomach icon:

When this icon is displaying I highly suggest looking around for food.

When hunger drops below another point (I belive this to be below 50%, possibly even more), it will look as if the stomach icon is shattering:

You are nearing starvation at this point and should seek food immediatly.

Water:

Water works similar to Hunger. When full it is greyed out, when begining to depleate it will color in with a soft blue and the icon will wiggle slightly.

I have not seen a difference between slightly low water and medium-low water, but the wiggle on the icon may get more intense and blink as it gets lower and lower.

After a certain point, when you are nearing dehydration damage, your water indicator will shatter, similar to the Hunger indicator:

HUD UI

The HUD UI of the most recent patch is very minimalistic. Icons will only pop up when you need them, they do not clutter the screen and will not stay for very long if not currently in use.

Stamina:

Stamina (Icon displays as a footprint) will only display when in use, it may flash for a moment after resting or standing back up from resting. You will have to swap to the character sheet to see more detailed information on your stamina use and recovery.

Oxygen:

Oxygen (Icon displays as the letters O2) will only display when you are drowning. Occasionally may display when you first spawn in as a dinosaur.

Bonebreak:

Broken bones (Icon is a red bone that displays in the upper righthand corner) will only display when you break your legs.

Hunger Indicator:

The Hunger symbol (Icon is a soft blue blinking stomach) will only display when the state of your hunger changes. I belive the number of blinks corrisponds to a certain hunger level. Less blinks = less severe hunger. I have seen it blink anywhere from 3 to 8 times on the HUD for varying levels.

  • The icon of the hunger indicator will not change with the icon that displays on your Character Sheet. To be sure of what state you’re in, open that up to see what percentages you are at.
Water Indicator:

The Water symbol (Icon is a soft blue blinking water drop) will only display when the state of your water changes. I belive the number of blinks works similar to Hunger, and shows severity.

  • The icon of the water indicator will not change with the icon that displays on your Character Sheet. To be sure of what state you’re in, open that up to see what percentages you are at.
Severe State Indicators:

Both the Water and Hunter indicators on the main HUD will display a blazing red color when 1-2 minutes away from begining to take damage from your starvation/thirst. They do not blink, they will not go away until you take care of that need or die.

  • This is a dying state that you must take care of immediatly.
