Vehicle List for Traffic Giant

Vehicle List

Overview

Complete list of vehicles in Traffic Giant

Intro

This is a list of all vehicle in Traffic Giant. Noted that everything I said about when the vehicle become available doesn’t apply to Campaign mode.

Types of vehicle

Vehicle in this game can be grouped into 5 categories.

Bus
Bus is the first type of vehicle you get, is the most usefulness and will be the one you use the most. It’s also the cheapest, the slowest and is bound to a traffic jam. All buses have a speed of 50 kph, same speed as all road traffic.

———————————————————————————————-

———————————————————————————————-

Tram
Tram is also available at the start. But in most case, it is too expensive to be use effectively from the get go. Compare to the bus, tram carries more people and is more attractive. But also more expensive, require a track and the vehicles have big footprint. Which can cause a gridlock at some busy junctions where front end of the tram already turn and get block by another vehicle, and than vehicle got block by back end of that tram. So keep that in mind.

Tram on line 8 travelling along green arrows being blocked by tram on line 10 travelling along orange arrows, which then being blocked by line 8 tram. This can happen to a bus too. But has a much higher chance with tram due to it’s size.

All trams have a speed of 50 kph, same speed as all road traffic.

———————————————————————————————-

———————————————————————————————-

City Railroad
Aka, a train. You get your first train at the beginning of year 10. This present a very exciting opportunity, since it will be the first time you won’t be restricted to the pre-built road. It can carry a lot of passengers. It also faster than road traffic and won’t effect by road traffic. However, it created a level crossing which can affect road traffic (and your buses and trams) and cause traffic jam. It’s also very expensive compare to buses and trams.

It can’t go elevated or underground. There is no underground train in Traffic Giant. The into movie is kinda misleading.

Rail line is very expensive but very efficient and very profitable, provided that you set it up correctly. However, with in this version of the game running on modern machine, my game crash 90% of the time after I build my first track and let the game run for a few in-game months. From my observation, there is like a hidden “black spot” on the map that if you laid your track over said tile, it will crash your game after a few months after the track has been laid on that spot. So always save your game before attempting to lay any track(s).

All City Railroads have a speed of 80 kph

———————————————————————————————-

———————————————————————————————-

Suspension Railway
Suspension Railway runs on elevated track. So it won’t effect by or affect road traffic. It is faster than City Railroad and it’s station has a smaller footprint. However, the train can carry fewer passenger compare to a City Railroad train. Suspension Railway become available at the beginning of year 16.

Same goes as City Railroad, game will likely crash when you laid down the track. So always save your game before attempting to lay any track(s).

All Suspension Railways have a speed of 100kph

———————————————————————————————-

———————————————————————————————-

Maglev
The ultimate form of transport. It’s the fastest, the highest capacity, the most expensive in the game. It also runs on elevated track and won’t effect by or affect road traffic. Maglev become available at the beginning of year 19.

Same goes as City Railroad and Suspension Railway, game will likely crash when you laid down the track. So always save your game before attempting to lay any track(s).

All Maglevs have a speed of 160kph

List of vehicles : Vehicles you start with

You start the game with 5 vehicles. 4 types of bus and 1 type of tram. Since you start with them all at the same time. I’ll go by the order that game listed in the vehicle menu.

Year : Year at which vehicle is available for purchase. New vehicle always become available the the beginning of the year.
Price : How much does this vehicle cost.
Capacity : How many passengers this vehicle can carry.
Attractiveness : How attractive this vehicle is. The higher the number, the more attractive it is, the better your company image will be.
Speed : How fast vehicle goes.
Operating Costs : How much does it cost to operate a vehicle for 1 tile. The lower, the better.
Deterioration : How many tiles vehicle can travel before it’s condition drop by 1%. The higher the number, the more durable said vehicle is.
Servicing : How much does it cost to repair and bring up vehicle condition by 1%
Comment : Basically, it’s what I have to say about this vehicle. Sometimes it’s useful/practical stuff. Sometimes it’s me moaning or being emotional so… lol.

Where did I get those stat you ask? Good question, it’s from the game manual. As some stat are not shown in the game. All of it comes from the manual except for the “Year”, in which manual is short by a year.

MD CityFox

Year : available from the beginning of the game
Price : 15,000
Capacity : 10
Attractiveness : 30
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 3
Deterioration : 150
Servicing : 150
Comment : It’s the cheapest, lowest capacity vehicle in the game. And the most attractive out of all buses you start with. AI tend to deploy this as a first bus in the newly establish bus line. I don’t know why it did that but I like to mimic it’s move.

BAR MC2

Year : available from the beginning of the game
Price : 30,000
Capacity : 20
Attractiveness : 25
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 6
Deterioration : 200
Servicing : 300
Comment : Low capacity bus. I almost never use it. It might be good on super rural line (20 pax is very low, even line through suburb require bigger bus). Usually, the first line you are going to build will be a line with high profitability, aka high density line in the middle of the city. So you will be busy buying a bigger bus. And usually by the time you get to build the rural line, you will already unlock a better bus.

BAR MC3

Year : available from the beginning of the game
Price : 45,000
Capacity : 30
Attractiveness : 25
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 7.2
Deterioration : 200
Servicing : 450
Comment : Medium capacity bus. Same goes with the MC2. You usually build a line in the middle of a city. And you are going to need a bigger bus than this.

BAR MC4

Year : available from the beginning of the game
Price : 60,000
Capacity : 40
Attractiveness : 25
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 8.4
Deterioration : 200
Servicing : 600
Comment : This is your workhorse. It’s the biggest bus you can buy before year 5. You will find yourself buying a lot of this.

Bajo CT/100

Year : available from the beginning of the game
Price : 200,000
Capacity : 120
Attractiveness : 40
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 24
Deterioration : 800
Servicing : 2,000
Comment : It’s your first tram and will be your only tram for many years.

List of vehicles : Vehicles you unlock

As the game progress, you will automatically get new type of vehicle. You get your first unlock at the beginning of year 3. Another one at year 5. Then, you get new vehicle every year up until year 20. After that, you will get 4 final vehicles every 2 years, in other words, at year 22, 24, 26 and 28.

Vehicles will be list in chronological order of it’s availability.

MAM GLX2

Year : 3
Price : 40,000
Capacity : 30
Attractiveness : 30
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 6
Deterioration : 400
Servicing : 400
Comment :
First vehicle you unlock. It’s statistically dominate BAR MC3. It can hold the same number of passengers. But is more attractive, cheaper to buy, cheaper to run and repair, and deteriorate slower. There is no point in buying new BAR MC3 from this point on, unless you like the aesthetic of it.

MAM GLX3

Year : 5
Price : 55,000
Capacity : 45
Attractiveness : 30
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 7.2
Deterioration : 400
Servicing : 550
Comment : This is quite an important bus. Say hello to your new workhorse. MAM GLX3 statistically dominate the BAR MC4, your main bus up until this point. It can hold 5 more passengers, more attractive, cheaper to buy, run and repair, and deteriorate slower. There is no point in buying new BAR MC4 from this point on, unless you like the look of it.

LT Elephant

Year : 6
Price : 130,000
Capacity : 80
Attractiveness : 35
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 18
Deterioration : 400
Servicing : 1300
Comment : A biggest bus in the game. It has the capacity of almost twice that of any bus available so far. I will help you greatly on a busy line. However, it is quite expensive to buy and operate. So only use it when your normal bus can’t handle the volume of passenger.

MD Weasel

Year : 7
Price : 20,000
Capacity : 20
Attractiveness : 40
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 4.8
Deterioration : 400
Servicing : 200 (as in game manual) or 400 (as in the intro screen) don’t ask me which one is a correct value.
Comment : The ultimate small bus in term of cost. Good for a very rural route (if you decide to run one). This bus statistically dominate the BAR MC2. It has same capacity, more attractive, cheaper to buy, run and repair, and deteriorate slower. There is no point in buying new BAR MC2 from this point on, unless you like the look of it.

GenEc X3

Year : 8
Price : 250,000
Capacity : 120
Attractiveness : 45
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 20
Deterioration : 1000
Servicing : 2500
Comment : Your second tram. It’s incremental improvement compared to Bajo CT/100. Same capacity. Slightly more attractive, cheaper to operate, deteriorate slower. But slightly more expensive to buy and repair. Usually, I don’t bother replacing Bajo CT/100 with this. Except I have loads of cash and has nothing else to do. Since you will get your next tram, which is quite an improvement, in 3 years. But if I’m going to buy a new tram, I’ll go for this instead of Bajo CT/100.

MAM GLX4

Year : 9
Price : 80,000
Capacity : 60
Attractiveness : 40
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 8.4
Deterioration : 400
Servicing : 800
Comment : Your new main bus on most of your city route. Offers a good balance of capacity, price, attractiveness, etc. You might considered replacing busy line that runs MAM GLX3 with this bus.

S&B NaP20

Year : 10
Price : 800,000
Capacity : 180
Attractiveness : 50
Speed : 80
Operating Costs : 26
Deterioration : 800
Servicing : 2000
Comment : Your first train (aka City Railroad). It stat dwarf anything that came before. Both the capacity, price, speed etc. It’s also the first vehicle that isn’t depend on road. Cost a fortune to set up a line but is very efficient at moving people around and will bring you a lot of money. Assuming that you can successfully set up a line without crashing the game after few months of operation. Which, is a rarity for me. I said it before but I’ll say it again, always save your game before attempting to lay any track(s).

Bajo CT/120

Year : 11
Price : 300,000
Capacity : 140
Attractiveness : 50
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 20
Deterioration : 1200
Servicing : 3000
Comment : The major improvement of this tram is that can carry 20 additional passengers. Rest is as usual, more attractive, more durable but cost more to buy and repair. This is also my favorite tram. Both aesthetically and emotionally (it’s the furthest I get in my first successful game as a kid, before I went bankrupt lolz so quite a nostalgic for me)

S&B NaP40

Year : 12
Price : 1,1500,000
Capacity : 180
Attractiveness : 60
Speed : 80
Operating Costs : 24
Deterioration : 1000
Servicing : 2500
Comment : An improvement over the previous train, S&B NaP20. Usually I stop buying the old model but won’t replace existing one with it.

MD FuturTec

Year : 13
Price : 80,000
Capacity : 40
Attractiveness : 50
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 3
Deterioration : 600
Servicing : 500
Comment : I just notice that the introduction screen has a typo. This vehicle has a capacity of 40, not 50. What set this bus apart is that it has incredibly operating cost. Lower than MD Weasel and equal to MD CityFox while carrying a lot more passenger. The up-front cost is a bit high however. This bus is pretty good on medium-high capacity line. If you still running old MAM GLX3 and has a lot of money (which, by this point, you should), this is a good replacement for it.

GenEc Z4

Year : 14
Price : 400,000
Capacity : 140
Attractiveness : 60
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 20
Deterioration : 1200
Servicing : 4000
Comment : More durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy than the previous tram. But I don’t like the look of it. So I preferred the previous model.

MD Gepard

Year : 15
Price : 1,300,000
Capacity : 180
Attractiveness : 70
Speed : 80
Operating Costs : 24
Deterioration : 1200
Servicing : 3000
Comment : More durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy than the previous train. I like the look of it, so I use it. This is how train stat goes, same capacity and speed, slightly different operating cost, more durable, attractive and expensive. At this stage of the game, you should be swimming in cash at have a very successful transport company. So capacity and looks triumph other stats.

KT&T WUP66

Year : 16
Price : 700,000
Capacity : 130
Attractiveness : 70
Speed : 100
Operating Costs : 22
Deterioration : 1200
Servicing : 1500
Comment : Your first suspension train. It’s good for smaller city due to it’s smaller footprint compared to City Railroad or Maglev. If you can lay down the tracks without crashing the game of course.

MD Star

Year : 17
Price : 90,000
Capacity : 20
Attractiveness : 60
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 6
Deterioration : 800
Servicing : 500
Comment : A final bus in the game. It’s a hover bus with force field as a windshield and the most attractive bus in the game. Very small and ridiculously expensive. You can replace your MD Weasel line, if you have any, with this. But keep in mind that it cost more to operate.

S&B NaP60

Year : 18
Price : 1,560,000
Capacity : 180
Attractiveness : 80
Speed : 80
Operating Costs : 22
Deterioration : 1400
Servicing : 4000
Comment : More durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy. Like MD Gepard, I like the look of it, so I use it. But I still keep MD Gepard around cuz I like the look of it more.

S&B MoP90

Year : 19
Price : 1,950,000
Capacity : 220
Attractiveness : 90
Speed : 160
Operating Costs : 32
Deterioration : 1500
Servicing : 3500
Comment : Your first Maglev, high capacity, fastest form of transport in this game, won’t disturb road traffic, very attractive, very expensive and very likely to crash you game when you start laying a track. So save your game before attempting to do so. If you succeed, congratulations, it will bring you loads of money, if you set it up correctly that is.

KT&T WUP77

Year : 20
Price : 950,000
Capacity : 130
Attractiveness : 80
Speed : 100
Operating Costs : 24
Deterioration : 1200
Servicing : 1800
Comment : Like City Railroad, Suspension train got more durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy than the previous train. The rest is pretty much the same. At this stage of the game, you should have a very successful transport company and can do whatever you want. So use it if you like it.

After this, instead of getting new vehicle every year, you will get new vehicle every 2 years up until the final vehicle at year 28.

MD Lowrider

Year : 22
Price : 500,000
Capacity : 150
Attractiveness : 70
Speed : 50
Operating Costs : 16
Deterioration : 1800
Servicing : 5000
Comment : The ultimate tram, 10 more capacity, cheaper to run, more durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy.

MD Tiger

Year : 24
Price : 1,750,000
Capacity : 180
Attractiveness : 90
Speed : 80
Operating Costs : 24
Deterioration : 1800
Servicing : 5000
Comment : The ultimate train, a bit more expensive to operate compare to the previous model. More durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy. Personally, I’m not the fan of it’s look.

KT&T WUP88

Year : 26
Price : 1,450,000
Capacity : 130
Attractiveness : 90
Speed : 100
Operating Costs : 20
Deterioration : 1200
Servicing : 2200
Comment : The ultimate suspension train, cheaper to run, more durable, more attractive, more expensive to buy.

MD Zebra

Year : 28
Price : 2,500,000
Capacity : 250
Attractiveness : 100
Speed : 160
Operating Costs : 32
Deterioration : 1500
Servicing : 3500
Comment : The ultimate Maglev. Also the ultimate and the last vehicle in this game. Highest capacity, most attractive vehicle, fastest, most expensive vehicle in the game.

This vehicle is quite emotional for me. I only got it once, very briefly too, when I played original version of the game. Because my game will certainly crash at this point and any save attempted will result in a corrupt, unloadable file. So enjoy your moment when you finally get to this vehicle 🙂

Conclusion

Hope you enjoy reading this guide. This guide should be like a diary for me. Hope one day someone will make an OpenTraffic Giant so we can have bug-free game and we can start playing this game like it meant to 🙂
