Western 1849 Reloaded achievements guide

Overview

An achievements guide for the game Western 1849 Reloaded.

Introduction

Western 1849 Reloaded is an enjoyable Western “shoot ’em up” game.

Included below are the achievements for this game, along with some tips and tactics on how to get them.

Good luck – and have fun!

(If this guide is useful to you, then please rate it upwards.)

Achievements, section 1

Achievements, arranged in order of achievements obtained globally through Steam.

Rookie
Complete easy difficulty
— Finish the first stage of difficulty (comprised of 2 levels, with 3 waves per level).
(Complete the Rookie stage – and become a Sheriff.)

GunSlinger
Kill 6 bandits with one clip
— Shoot and kill six enemies without reloading.
— The quickest way to do this is to kill six enemies with your revolver on the easiest difficulty stage (technically, it’s not a clip; but we won’t quibble too much about that here.)
— Make sure you have reloaded your firearm before you attempt this.
— Aim for headshots only.
— Don’t shoot the big guy, because it can take two headshots to kill him.

Eagle Eye
Perform 50 headshots in one game
— Self-explanatory. Shoot and kill 50 enemies with headshots.
Don’t worry if you shoot at an enemy’s head, but only knock off his hat; that will count towards a separate achievement.

QuickShot
Fire 100 bullets in one game
— Just shoot 100 bullets in one game (i.e. until you die).
— You could try to get this by ducking down and just popping up and randomly shooting all the time, but where’s the fun in that? It will happen in the course of the game (of course, if you are impatient to get this achievement, then feel free to shoot off some random shots).

Sheriff
Complete medium difficulty
— Finish the second stage of difficulty (comprised of 3 levels, with 3 waves per level).

Merchant
Upgrade your equipment 3 times
— Go to the game’s main menu, click on the “Equipment” section (symbolised by a hat), and then spend your coins on upgrading your equipment (vest, pistol, rifle, and shotgun).
— The “Golden Nugget” perk is useful (“You receive 200 extra gold”).

Perfectionist
Complete 3 waves in a row without losing any health
— Obviously, the easiest stage to do this is on the easiest difficulty stage.
— It’s even easier to do this after you have upgraded your equipment and obtained some backpack items. Even if you have moved on to the harder stages, you can still go back to the easiest difficulty stage and play through it again.

Enhancer
Have 2 items equipped in the backpack
— Go to the game’s main menu, click on the “Inventory” section (symbolised by a backpack), and then spend your coins on backpack items.
— You can buy all of the items eventually, but earning coins takes time, so choose carefully.

Head Hunter
Perform 500 head shots
— Self-explanatory. Shoot and kill 500 enemies with headshots.
Don’t worry if you shoot at an enemy’s head, but only knock off his hat; that will count towards a separate achievement.

Kill Streak
Perform a 15 kill streak
— You need to get to higher levels to do this, as the lower levels don’t even have 15 enemies.
— Using a Ghostrock Bomb can be useful for this (“Kills all enemies on the screen”). The Ghostrock Bomb can be obtained as a perk (the higher you go, the more times you’ll see this perk come up), or bought (for a high price) as a piece of equipment for your backpack.

Achievements, section 2

(Steam has put a limit on how much text can be put into a guide section, so the information on the achievements had to be split up.)

Black Dynamite
Kill 100 bandits using dynamite
— On every level, just use your dynamite against your enemies (until you run out).
Extra dynamite can be obtained as a perk (the higher you go, the more times you’ll see this perk come up), or bought (for a high price) as a piece of equipment for your backpack.
— It’s better to use your dynamite against enemies who are hiding behind cover so effectively that they can’t be shot at until they make their move (give them a surprise).
— If memory serves me correctly, I got this achievement when I was using the “Exploding Cans” perk (“Fills the cans for the next wave with nitroglycerin that causes a huge explosion when hit”), so it seems that it’s not just dynamite that counts towards this achievement (or maybe there is dynamite inside the cans).

Fast Finger
Perform 50 Perfect Reloads in one game
— When you reload your firearm, you will see a gap in the reload bar; if you time your reloading correctly (hit the “R” ket to reload), so that the bullet is in the gap, your firearm will reload immediately. If you hit the R key too early or too late, you will have to wait for the reload process to complete itself in full (it only takes a few seconds, but you can be shot during that short period of time).
— Using the “Pocket Watch” can be useful for this (“Perfect reload becomes 50% easier to hit”). The “Pocket Watch” can be bought as a piece of equipment for your backpack.
— The “Perfectionist” perk is also useful (“Makes it easier to hit perfect reloads”).

Canned
Shoot 50 cans
— You can see quite a few cans in various spots in all of the levels, so this should be an easy achievement to get. Just shoot 50 cans.
— You can use the few seconds of “dead play time” at the start of each wave to shoot the cans without having to worry about being shot by your enemies.
— Some perks involve shooting cans; so, after you get this achievement, you might want to avoid shooting cans, and save them for the possibility that you might want to use them for a perk.
(The achievement’s official description actually reads “Shoot 50 canns”, but it looks like the developers are from a non-English-speaking country, so we can forgive them for assuming that “can” is spelt “cann”, considering how “canned” is spelt. Ah, the vagaries of the English language, they’re a wonder to behold.)

Legend
Complete hard difficulty
— Finish the third stage of difficulty (comprised of 4 levels, with 3 waves per level).

Bandit Slayer
Kill 2000 Bandits
— Self-explanatory. Kill 2000 enemies; use any (or all) of the weapons available to you.
— You will get this achievement just by playing the game for long enough.

Reload Perfectionist
Perform 500 perfect reloads
(The following information is a repeat of that used for the “Fast Finger” achievement.)

Fasion Hunter
Knock down 250 hats from bandits
(Presumably the name of this achievement should be “Fashion hunter”.)
— Shoot the hats off the heads of 250 enemies.
— Aim slightly above the heads of the bad buys wearing hats, to shoot their hats off.
(Don’t worry if you kill an occasional enemy with a headshot – they are bad guys, after all.)

Bullet Tornado
Fire 5000 bullets
— You will get this achievement just by playing the game for long enough.

Raaaage!
Kill 25 bandits in Rage Mode
— Kill 25 enemies whilst you are in a Rage
— You get to be in a Rage when you kill enough enemies; the more you kill, the more your rage level goes up. However, being shot by enemies will lower your rage level.
— Some perks are useful: “Canned” (“Hitting a can gives you 20% Rage”); “Milk of Magnesia” (“Rage energy drains 10% slower”); “Wild Bill” (“Rage energy fills up 10% faster”).

Hero
Complete very hard difficulty
— Finish the fourth stage of difficulty (comprised of 5 levels, with 3 waves per level).

Champion
Complete insane difficulty
— Finish the fifth stage of difficulty (I haven’t completed this one as yet, but I’m guessing it’s comprised of 6 levels, with 3 waves per level).

Levels

Level 1: Town Square.

Level 2: Train Station.

Level 3: Gold Mine.

Level 4: Outskirts.
