Welcome
Welcome guys, this is my guide about Counter Strike Source weapons
Glock 18
Price: $400
Country of origin: Austria
Caliber: 9mm parabellum
Magazine capacity: 20 rounds
Weight (loaded): 0.3kg
Projectile weight: 9g
Muzzle velocity: 1932 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 475 joules
Special traits: Can be fired in 3-round burst mode
The Glock is low-damage and low-accuracy pistol. It is the default terrorist starting pistol, and is very cheap, but is often not particularly useful unless you are very accurate. If you have a fast finger, buy this gun or join the terrorist team for a free gun.If your finger is not so fast, use bursts and go for headshots – however Glock with Burst Fire becomes even more inaccurate.
Usp.45 Tactical
Price: $500
Country of origin: Germany
Caliber: .45 ACP
Magazine capacity: 12 rounds
Weight (loaded): 1kg
Projectile weight: 15.2g
Muzzle velocity: 886 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 553 joules
Special traits: Can be fitted with a silencer
The USP is the default counter-terrorist starting pistol, which comes with a greater firepower into a similar size and weight. Main advantages of USP over the Glock are attachable silencer, higher damage and much higher accuracy.
P228
Price: $600
Country of origin: Switzerland/Germany
Caliber: .357 SIG*
Magazine capacity: 13 rounds
Weight (loaded): 1.03kg
Projectile weight: 8.1g
Muzzle velocity: 1400 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 600 joules
The P228 is a small pistol, with average statistics. Many players choose the Desert Eagle over it, as the prices are quite similar, but the P228 is a decent choice if you need a better pistol than starting one. It’s accuracy is around average, but it’s damage is higher than the USP.
The P228 has a higher rate of fire than the Desert Eagle, a larger magazine, and it only takes about five shots to the chest to kill a target. You can’t snipe with this like you can with a Desert Eagle though, and like all other pistols it does not penetrate walls. Learn to use the strong recoil of the gun to increase your ability to hit a target and increase the chances of getting a headshot (it deals over 100 damage to the face). It may have a faster firing rate than other pistols, but its unexceptional middlingness make it mostly not a good choice to go with.
Desert Eagle.50 AE
Price: $650
Country of origin: Israel
Caliber: .50 Action Express
Magazine capacity: 7 rounds
Weight (loaded): 1.8kg
Projectile weight: 19.4g
Muzzle velocity: 1380 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1650 joules
The Desert Eagle.50 AE (or “Deagle”) is the most powerful pistol, being able to kill somebody with one headshot, no matter if your opponent is wearing helmet or not. It’s magazine is very small (only 7 rounds), so being accurate when using it is very important. Most players will choose a Desert Eagle.50 AE if they’re buying a handgun (and have the money).
Desert Eagle is clearly best pistol to use for Mid-Long range compared to other pistols. The bullets also penetrate players and walls, which despite it’s magazine size, can make this gun shine in close quarters combat. It is by far the most versatile pistol and probably the best pistol to buy in the game, and by far most popular pistol in this game – and for good reasons.
FN Five-seven
Price: $750
Country of origin: Belgium
Caliber: 5.7x28mm
Magazine capacity: 20 rounds
Weight (loaded): 0.618kg
Projectile weight: 2g
Muzzle velocity: 2345 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 465 joules
Team: Counter-terrorists only
The FN Five-seven has high accuracy and a large magazine, but has low damage. It’s very low weight does not affect the running speed with the pistol, as all pistols allow the player to run at the same speed (250 units per second). Sadly, this pistol is not worth the money which you pay for it, you better buy some nades rather than this pistol.
Dual 96G Elite Berettas
Price: $800
Country of origin: Italy
Caliber: 9mm parabellum
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds (15 rounds on each pistol)
Weight (loaded): 1.15kg
Projectile weight: 8g
Muzzle velocity: 1280 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 606 joules
Team: Terrorists only
Dual Berettas are actually pretty good handgun(s). They deal good damage, have high accuracy, low per-shot recoil, lovely 30 round magazine(s). Only real weakness of “Duals” is their long reload time and high price. But you get what you pay for – everything (literally).
Dual Berettas are way better than their CT counterpart, however I’m not sure if it’s worth it picking them over Desert Eagle.
Sub-machine guns
The sub-machine guns are second cheapest guns, and most of them have higher rate of fire than Assault Rifles. Most players don’t like to use SMG in mid-game when they have enough money to buy an AK-47 or M4A1, as SMGs have low damage, low armor-penetration and are inaccurate. However they are fast in almost every way, and might possibly be even better choice than Assault Rifles, when going to just rush (As a Terrorist, for example). However as mentioned before, their biggest plus is their price.
Mac-10
Price: $1400
Country of origin: USA
Caliber: .45 ACP
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 857 RPM
Weight (loaded): 3.82kg
Projectile weight: 15.2g
Muzzle velocity: 919 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 584 joules
Team: Terrorists only
The Mac-10 is similar in many aspects to the TMP. But it’s got slower rate of fire, and deals more damage. Mac-10 got unforgiving recoil, and very low accuracy – making this gun at least somehow useful in Close Quarters Combat .
TMP
Price: $1250
Country of origin: Austria
Caliber: 9mm parabellum
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 857 RPM
Weight (loaded): 1.3kg
Projectile weight: 8g
Muzzle velocity: 1280 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 606 joules
Team: Counter-terrorists only
The TMP is the cheapest counter-terrorist sub-machine gun. It has high rate of fire, low accuracy, mediocre recoil and low damage. Works in similiar way to Mac-10. Try to get close with that little thing, or you will get punished. Also notice it’s intergrated silencer – you can’t remove it. Silencer makes you less visible in every way, so it’s nice bonus for this otherwise not really good gun.
MP5 Navy
Price: $1500
Country of origin: Germany
Caliber: 9mm parabellum
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 750 RPM
Weight (loaded): 3.42kg
Projectile weight: 8g
Muzzle velocity: 1132 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 637 joules
The MP5 navy has a high rate of fire, good accuracy, and deals low damage. This is the most common submachinegun, together with P90, as it has very low recoil. MP5 is technically your best choice when buying an SMG, as this one is low-recoil, high accuracy and fast one. And while it does not deals low damage, there is no sub-machine gun, which really deals impressive damage. I highly advise to take maximum of it’s high accuracy and low-recoil, and go for headshots.
UMP
Price: $1700
Country of origin: Germany
Caliber: .45 ACP
Magazine capacity: 25 rounds
Rate of fire: 600 RPM
Weight (loaded): 2.27kg
Projectile weight: 15.2g
Muzzle velocity: 1005 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 625 joules
UMP-45 is pretty much misunderstood child in SMG family, dealing medium damage, and having pretty impressive accuracy for SMG. However this comes at cost with very, very slow rate of fire, high per-shot recoil, small magazine and long reload time. This SMG is not that bad, but not for it’s mediocre damage, which is highest in SMG class (still too low to be effective), but for it’s really, really small spray pattern. However UMP-45 has slowest time to kill from all SMGs and Assault Rifles, while it is 2. most expensive SMG on offer – and that’s the reason why I can’t recommend this SMG. Just get MP5. Damage is not everything…
P-90
Price: $2350
Country of origin: Belgium
Caliber: 5.7x28mm
Magazine capacity: 50 rounds
Rate of fire: 857 RPM
Weight (loaded): 3kg
Projectile weight: 2g
Muzzle velocity: 2345 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 465 joules
The P90 is very special sub-machine gun. It has an insane rate of fire, huge 50 round magazine, medium recoil and good-enough accuracy. This clearly makes it number 1. choice for rushers. This sub-machine gun however has it’s weaknesses, mainly it’s huge price for an SMG and mediocre damage.
Shotguns
Shotguns are specialized weapons for Close Quarters Combat, dealing massive amout of damage to all parts of enemy. However their effectiveness quickly drops at even medium range, as here you will notice their natural huge inaccuracy.
M3 Super 90
Price: $1700
Country of origin: Italy
Caliber: 12 gauge
Magazine capacity: 8 rounds
Rate of fire: 68 RPM
Weight (loaded): 3.5kg
Projectile weight: 3.8g/pellet
Muzzle velocity: 1250 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 2429 joules
The M3 Super 90 is very underrated weapon, as getting an ability to kill an enemy with 1 shot to the body or head, even if he’s got a helmet and armor, for such low price is very, very nice. However it’s pump-action nature means that it’s got painful rate of fire, 68 rounds per minute. With it’s slow rate of fire and high-view shaking recoil you better kill what you shoot at.
The main problem is that it’s spread is pretty big, as expected for shotgun, and even in very close range you might not get that one shot – one kill.
XM1014
Price: $3000
Country of origin: Italy
Caliber: 12 gauge
Magazine capacity: 7 rounds
Rate of fire: 400 RPM
Weight (loaded): 4kg
Projectile weight: 3.8g/pellet
Muzzle velocity: 1250 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 2429 joules
The XM1014 is an auto-shotgun. This is the bullethose of Shotgun Family. And unlike M3 Shotgun, it is still effective against multiple enemies. However, it deals a little bit less damage compared to M3 Shotgun, and when fired in fully-automatic fire, after 2 shots it becomes uncontrollable. I would say this shotgun is pretty good for Deathmatch, however on Classic game mode, there is a reason why such powerful and all-round good weapon is that much unpopular. The reason is price. This auto-shotty costs 3000 dollars, which is almost 2 x times more than M3 Shotgun. Also, this is almost exact same price like M4A1, while M4A1 is much more useful than this shotgun in every range. And it costs 500 more dollars than AK-47, and AK-47 is most reliable weapon, effective at any range and situation, plus with AK-47 you can afford even Grenade/Smoke and one Flashbang, compared to XM1014. Skip this one.
Assault Rifles
Powerful, accurate, all-round good and reliable Assault Rifles. Most popular weapons in entire game and there are reasons why. In this category you will also find 2 out of 3 most popular weapons to use in Counter Strike Source – M4A1 and AK-47. An Assault Rifle should always be your general number 1. weapon choice, as they take best out of every weapon category, mix it up and pack it together.
IMI Galil
Price: $2000
Country of origin: Israel
Caliber: .223
Magazine capacity: 35 rounds
Rate of fire: 675 RPM
Weight (loaded): 4.35kg
Projectile weight: 4g
Muzzle velocity: 2013 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1712 joules
Team: Terrorists only
A Galil is cheapest Assault Rifle, however it is not bad as ít might look, and it’s price is very low compared to it’s solid effectiveness. It deals good damage, have good rate of fire, medium to high recoil, medium accuracy, good magazine size and as a bonus good penetration power. This is a great example how an Assault Rifle should look – as mentioned above, take the best from everything. This Assault Rifle offers almost everything what you can ask for. Only real problem is that other assault rifles are even better than this. The main reason why Galil is not used often is because of Terrorists number 1. Assault Rifle – AK-47, as it does not have ability to 1 shot-headshot an armored enemy, unlike an AK. While it is not as good as AK-47, it is still good assault rifle and you can take it anytime with you, to save some money, and get some nades or flashes with you.
FAMAS
Price: $2250
Country of origin: France
Caliber: 5.56 NATO
Magazine capacity: 25 rounds
Rate of fire: 675-1100 RPM
Weight (loaded): 3.4kg
Projectile weight: 4g
Muzzle velocity: 2212 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1712 joules
Team: Counter-terrorists only
The FAMAS is like Galil OK gun. Outclassed by an M4A1 in almost every way, it comes with good rate of fire, lowest damage from all assault rifles, small magazine size, but high accuracy and Burst Fire. In-Game gun performs like worse M4, however it’s price is really nice, and Burst Fire makes it perfect if you want to take cover and shoot over very long distances. However when you will get enough money, give yourself an upgrade, and buy M4A1.
AK-47
Price: $2500
Country of origin: Russia
Caliber: 7.62 M43
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 600 RPM
Weight (loaded): 4.79kg
Projectile weight: 7.9g
Muzzle velocity: 2329 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1992 joules
Team: Terrorists only
The AK-47 is the most basic and classic weapon in Counter Strike, and a symbol of this game. It is powerful, have good rate of fire, high accuracy, high first-shot accuracy, it’s cheap, fast reload time and huge penetration power. And that’s all you get just for 500 more dollars than Galil. It’s not surprising that this gun is so popular and by many players considered as best weapon in entire game. The main advantage of this weapon is that it is able to kill an enemy just by 1 hit to the head, regardless if his got an Helmet or not. This weapon is basically a fully-automatic bullethose which can instant-kill an enemy. Only it’s disadvantage is it’s high recoil, however after some practice it won’t be a real issue, and you will get feel for it.
Maverick M4A1 Carbine
Price: $3100
Country of origin: USA
Caliber: 5.56 NATO
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds (maximum 120 rounds with three spare magazines)
Rate of fire: 700 RPM
Weight (loaded): 0.22kg
Projectile weight: 4g
Muzzle velocity: 4990 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 570 joules
Special traits: Can be fitted with a silencer
Team: Counter-terrorists only
The M4A1 is the counter-terrorists’ equivalent of the AK47. It deals lower damage, but it is more accurate while runníng. It also has a lot easier spray pattern, so it is easier to shoot it on fully-automatic mode. Big disadvantages when compared to AK-47 are a lot longer reload time, inability to kill a helmet-quipped enemy just by one shot, higher price and lower first-shot accuracy. Still, M4 comes with faster rate of fire, useful when facing more enemies at the same time. It also comes with a silencer, which I highly advise to always use, it makes the M4 deal more damage (by 1 point), and lowers the sound of your weapon, making you harder to find.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Silencer does NOT hide you from the radar, as in Counter Strike you are showed on radar when seen by an enemy, not when you are shooting a weapon.
SG-552 commando
Price: $3500
Country of origin: Switzerland
Caliber: 5.56 NATO
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 700 RPM
Weight (loaded): 3.1kg
Projectile weight: 4g
Muzzle velocity: 2900 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1570 joules
Special traits: Has a usable scope
Team: Terrorists only
SG-552 is the most expensive fully-automatic Assault Rifle for Terrorists. This weapon is very rarely used, mainly because of it’s price, and it’s low effectiveness compared to cheaper AK-47. The most important difference is that SG-552 does not kill an enemy with helmet by 1 shot to the head, unlike AK-47. Also it’s first shot accuracy is lower, and recoil of SG-552 is also pretty high, rapidly going up, mainly because of it’s high rate of fire. So the SG-552 is less accurate, less powerful and more expensive version of AK-47. So what do you get for those extra dollars, compared to the AK-47? Well, a scope and higher rate of fire. The problem is that the higher rate of fire makes the SG-552 very hard to control, just like an AK-47, however despite the fact that AK-47 shoots slower, AK-47 still kills faster due to it’s higher damage to body and one shot kill to the head against enemy with helmet – which as I mentioned before is SG-552 not capable of. So higher rate of fire is pretty much only drawback. And scope gives you extra zoom, however when scoped in, you shoot 2x times slower so you are even throwing that fast rate of fire out. And while there are still some people who like this weapon, I just can’t recommend this one to use – buy cheaper AK-47 for more effectiveness and usefulness, and save some money.
AUG
Price: $3500
Country of origin: Austria
Caliber: 5.56 NATO
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 700 RPM
Weight (loaded): 4.09kg
Projectile weight: 4g
Muzzle velocity: 2900 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1570 joules
Special traits: Has a usable scope
Team: Counter-terrorists only
AUG is almost same story like SG-552, however it is probably even worse. The problem is that it is the most expensive Assault Rifle for Counter-Terrorists, despite the fact that cheaper M4A1 is effective just like AUG. Both weapons have no damage differences, rate of fire is about the same, and recoil too. And both weapons are very accurate. However AUG is very sluggish assault rifle and so it takes longer time to reload and your movement speed is slower than with M4A1. Also M4A1 has attachable silencer. Only “advantage” of the AUG is scope, however this is same case like SG-552, as it makes your rate of fire drastically slower, and as such it is not very effective. Ignore this one, buy M4A1.
Machine Guns
There is only one machine gun which we got in Counter Strike Source: the M249-SAW. It is one of the most expensive weapons, however, you get what you pay for.
M249-Saw
Price: $5750
Country of origin: Belgium
Caliber: 5.56 parabellum
Magazine capacity:100 rounds
Rate of fire: 750 RPM
Weight (loaded): 7kg
Projectile weight: 6g
Muzzle velocity: 3930 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 600 joules
The M249 Light Machinegun deals good amount of damage, has very high rate of fire, huge magazine, high amount o total ammo and good accuracy. However this comes at cost of slow reload time, slow movement speed, high price and high recoil when fired fully-automatically. This gun is not used very often, as this is very risky buy which you might regret, due to it’s high price – and buying a weapon worth of 5750$, and then getting sniped by one shot, without even killing anyone, won’t make you very happy (for example). However this LMG (Light Machine Gun) is still very useful in close range maps, like cs_office.
Sniper Rifles
The sniper rifles are very situation-based weapons, great at defending objects such as bomb. However most of them suffer from high price, and terrible performance at close range when compared to other weapons.
Schmidt Scout
Price: $2750
Country of origin: Austria
Caliber: 7.62 NATO
Magazine capacity: 10 rounds
Weight (loaded): 3.3kg
Projectile weight: 8g
Muzzle velocity: 2800 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 2200 joules
Special traits: Has a usable scope
The Scout is by far the cheapest sniper rifle, and also pretty popular due to fact that other sniper rifles are banned on most servers. Interesting fact, you run faster with a Scout than with a knife, so you should always wear equipped Scout rather than knife when you are safe and want to move from point A to point B. Scout deals very low damage, taking 2 bodyshots to kill armored/unarmored enemy, so you have to be very careful and precise when using it.
G3/SG-1
Price: $5000
Country of origin: Germany
Caliber: 7.62 NATO
Magazine capacity: 20 rounds
Weight (loaded): 4.41kg
Projectile weight: 8g
Muzzle velocity: 2800 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 2200 joules
Special traits: Has a usable scope
Team: Terrorists only
G3/SG-1, is just like SG-550 an automatic sniper rifle. This one comes with smaller magazine size (20 rounds vs 30), but a little bit higher damage but also higher price. The G3/SG-1 is banned on most servers due to it being considered overpowered, so it is rarely seen in matches. If you get to use it, remember it is not good for attacking, it is designed to be used on defense. Also AWP-Snipers have huge advantage against you.
SG-550 commando
Price: $4200
Country of origin: Switzerland
Caliber: 5.56 NATO
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Weight (loaded): 7.02kg
Projectile weight: 4g
Muzzle velocity: 3100 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 1650 joules
Special traits: Has a usable scope
Team: Counter-terrorists only
SG-550 is almost like a G3/SG-1, however it does have bigger magazine (30 rounds vs 20), but it also deals a little bit less damage, which in some cases can result to 3 needed shots to kill an enemy, rather than 2. This is very rarely seen weapon on servers, mostly because it is banned on most of them, just like G3/SG-1.
AWP ~ Arctic Warfare Police .338 Lapua Magnum Sniper Rifle
Price: $4750
Country of origin: UK
Caliber: .338 Lapua Magnum
Magazine capacity: 10 rounds
Weight (loaded): 4kg
Projectile weight: 20.2g
Muzzle velocity: 7000 feet/second
Muzzle energy: 7000 joules
Special traits: Has a dual-optical scope
The AWP is the largest and most powerful sniper rifle, killing an enemy in one shot (in most cases). The AWP can kill an enemy by one shot to any part of the body except legs, which deals 85 damage. While AWP is very powerful, accurate and all-round great weapon, it costs a lot so player should train a little bit with it before buying it in match and then loosing it, giving an enemy player such a great and high-price weapon for free. The AWP is very inaccurate when shooting from the hip, so player should almost always scope before shooting, to reach maximum accuracy. Also AWP’s accuracy will suffer a lot when player will be moving, so stand still when shooting it.
To chamber a new round faster than would otherwise be possible, you can change to a pistol, then back to the AWP very quickly. If practiced enough, this will result in a faster chamber time. This weapon is almost exclusively known as the AWP (Arctic Warfare Police), but is actually intended to be the AWM (Arctic Warfare Magnum).
Grenades
These weapons can be thrown, and are irretrievable once thrown. Skilled players will bounce them off walls so that they land around corners; this is especially useful with flashbang grenades, which you don’t want to look at once they’ve been thrown.
Every grenade makes at least one damage if you manage to hit your enemy with it, so there is a possibility to kill an enemy with a flashbang or a smoke.
Flashbang
Price: $200
Special traits: You can only carry two of them
The flashbang grenade is a good cheap way to keep the enemy from hitting you. When it goes off, any players (even your teammates) looking at it – or a reflective surface showing it – will be blinded for several seconds. Any players in the close vicinity will also be completely blinded and deafened. When thrown ahead of a rushing force, a flashbang is invaluable; one method of using it is to stop just before a corner, and bounce one off a wall to go off around the corner before you jump round.
Even if the flash didn’t affect them, chances are enemies had to take cover and are less likely to be in a proper firing position right away. Flashbangs can also make a good distraction if you need to retreat.
Counter-tactic: If you see one land in front of you, you have several options. First, if no cover is available, quickly turn 180° directly opposite of the flashbang. This will minimize the effect to where you can still make out the area. The second is to open fire in the general direction the grenade came from hoping the enemy will be discouraged to go through with their attack. Thirdly, you can throw your own flashbang near yourself, or if possible, at the expected direction of your attacker. While you will be blinded again, there’s some chance an attacker charging you will also be rendered blind.
Smoke Grenade
Price: $300
Special traits: You can only carry one of them
Smoke grenades release large volumes of smoke – enough to cover about six square metres – when they go off. In the middle, the smoke is thick enough to completely blind people going through it, and somebody outside the smoke cannot easily see people inside it. Smoke grenades can be used in a similar fashion to flashbangs, although unlike other grenades, it goes off when it stops moving rather than on a set timer. This means it could potentially be a long time before it actually releases a lot of smoke (e.g. a smoke grenade lazily rolling off of a high point, then falling to a lower sloped area where it continues to roll a bit). Smoke grenades are often used improperly. There are basically three common uses for smoke (and a single smoke may be used for multiple purposes):
1: Concealing your own team’s movements when you’re moving out of cover.
2: Enveloping your enemies in a smoke cloud, which disorients and blinds them while allowing your team free movement around the area, and if their cover is penetrable or limited, the smoke cloud can be sprayed at with little hope of retaliation. This often works well in conjunction with flashbangs to completely disorient your opponents.
3: In the case of a defensive position; for example, stopping attackers coming through double doors (a narrow but bullet-penetrable choke point), a smoke on the point of entry makes it difficult for enemies to coordinate their exit (they may block each other accidentally because they can’t see each other) and prevents their retaliation. This is really effective in conjunction with a machine gun, or with silenced weapons (especially the M4) which do not have muzzle flashes, which are visible through smoke.
High-explosive grenade
Price: $300
Special traits: You can only carry one of them
A high-explosive grenade (or frag grenade) explodes a few seconds after being thrown, hurting or killing any players (Even your teammates, unless friendly fire is turned off. Even if it is, your own grenades still hurt you) near it; the damage given depends on how far away from the grenade you are. Grenades are useful to throw when you know somebody is (for example) around a corner, but jumping out to shoot them would be too risky: they’re bedded in, and your accuracy would be thrown by the movement. Also, HE grenades have the same deafening effect as flashbangs do (but unlike flashbangs this effect only applies to people who take damage from the grenade, so if FF is turned off your teammates won’t be deafened by a grenade you throw).
Miscellaneous
Other weapons are: explosives, not actually weapons, or gametype-specific, and can’t be categorised with the others
Knife
The knife is given to all players automatically at the start of each round, cannot be dropped, and doesn’t cost a thing. It is the least effective weapon, but – since it requires no ammunition – can be used again and again. Players are able to run faster with the knife equipped than with any primary weapon other than lighter submachine guns and the Schmidt Scout, and for this reason it is often used for rushing. It is one of the ultimate humiliations to be knifed to death in Counter-Strike: Source.
The knife has a primary and secondary attack. Primary attack will knife faster, but does less damage (about 12 damage). Secondary attack is about twice as slow as the primary, but does 55 damage in every attack, so two attacks is a confirmed kill. If you knife the enemy from the back with this attack, it will instantly kill the enemy, no matter the amount of hitpoints or armour. Players tend to throw HE-grenades at the target and then use the knife for a faster and safer kill.
The range of the primary attack is a bit higher, giving you a small advantage in knife fights if you want to avoid getting hit by the secondary attack. However, if you are not a pro with the knife, don’t even think about it.
Kevlar
Price: 650$
Purchasing kevlar and a helmet is more expensive than buying just kevlar, but provides better protection, especially when playing against players who fire consistent headshots. The addition of a helmet protects your head, but as with the kevlar it only reduces the damage caused by bullets and does not make you invulnerable.
Don’t rebuy armor if it’s higher than 60. There’s no difference between 100 armor and around 60ish armor.
Kevlar and helmet
Price: $1000
Purchasing kevlar and a helmet is more expensive than buying just kevlar, but provides better protection, especially when playing against players who fire consistent headshots. The addition of a helmet protects your head, but as with the kevlar it only reduces the damage caused by bullets and does not make you invulnerable.
Don’t rebuy armor if it’s higher than 60. There’s no difference between 100 armor and around 60ish armor.
Nightvision
Price: $1250
Allows you to see better in the dark, and therefore can be quite useful in dark maps (a green overlay is put on your vision, and everything’s brighter). In bright maps, however, it is a waste of money to buy, as using nightvision in a bright area actually makes your vision worse (things get too bright). and you can always use flashlight
C4 Bomb
Team: Terrorists only
At the start of every round on a bomb defusal map, a random terrorist is given the C4 to plant. They may drop this, and it doesn’t cost them anything, but they have been entrusted with it, and it is their duty (unless they drop it) to destroy the target with it.
Defusal Kit
Price: $200
Team: Counter-terrorists only
When playing a bomb defusal map, a bomb defusal kit is an invaluable thing to buy. You can defuse the bomb without one, but having one accelerates the process considerably, and once the bomb’s been planted, there is precious little time to waste before it goes off.
A Counter-Terrorist can defuse a bomb about ten seconds without a kit. With a kit, it takes five seconds.
