(WIP) Graveyard Keeper – iCraft’s Guide (ALL DLC’s) (12-2020)

Overview

IntroductionThis game can be confusing and unclear for many aspects. Something that I find myself doing is getting caught up in the grind for something I don’t necessarily need and neglect the things I maybe should be focusing on.I find this game amazing. I grew up on old school RPGs and I am loving games like these. The premise is awesome, being a graveyard keeper, priest, doing autopsies, growing crops, along with all the rest – and the kind of humor in this game I love it all.I played this game 169 hours (no bs), so about 150 hours on my first time as I explored and crafted, but this was before Stranger Sins, so I haven’t done hardly anything with the DLC’s yet, but I do own them and they are installed. One of the first tips I would give to beginners, is to only get the Technologies you need (follow a guide) especially when you start getting blue points. It is good to have an idea of what you want to do and focus on and work towards that. You can waste points easily if you don’t know what you are doing. So be careful what you unlock and when.

Mods

You can go to the Nexus[www.nexusmods.com], which has a lot of different mods (which is what I usually use for modding), but I am going to list what I used before and am using now. Many of the mods on the Nexus may be outdated also, which is just another reason to use U Mod Framework.

U Mod Framework[umodframework.com] has only three mods, but with the framework itself and those three mods, you have tons of options to adjust everything you will want.

The nexus does have an inventory size mod, but I haven’t tried testing both methods of modding at the same time, which could potentially cause many problems and may break your save.

With U Mod Framework, the most useful is the speed burst which you can configure to whatever you want for walk, run and out of energy speeds.

You can also set energy regen speed, which is very useful.

Also length of days and console is unlocked through the U Mod Framework. I haven’t used the console yet.

As for installation, I am not going to describe that here, you have the link which has guides that are easy to use.

If you only install the framework and no mods, you have many options such as FOV and many others. I don’t have the menu open at the moment, but there are a ton of options.

To open the mod menu, the default key is:

Left Shift + F10

To open the console, the default key is:

Left Shift + `

The three mods for U Mod Framework are:

GK Multi Mod[umodframework.com]

PrayTheDayAway[umodframework.com]

Insomnia[umodframework.com]

Days & Schedules

There are 6 days per week, and on each day a specific NPC will be available to interact with.

This[graveyardkeeper.gamepedia.com] is the wiki page for below, I keep this page in my tabs and often play with it on my other monitor, it is very handy:

Each day of the week is associated with the 7 deadly sins, missing greed (6 total days).

Pride

Episcop visits the Church or The Graveyard. If you have the Preacher Perk you can give a sermon on this day.

Lust

Ms. Charm visits The Dead Horse

Gluttony

Merchant visits The Village

Envy

Snake visits the Old Church Cellar but he can be found there any day and after his quest begins remains there (not when waiting for the Damask Sword or decorating).

Wrath

Inquisitor visits Witch Hill.

Sloth

Astrologer can be found by the Lighthouse at Sealight.

Day 1 – Bishop

I am going to focus on getting a steady income and unlocking the dungeon as quickly as possible. There is not much fighting in this game except for in the dungeon. Also, once it is open you gain easy access to many different types of materials (destroy all of those barrels and jars, etc.).

Unlocking the revenue stream early also helps out tremendously, as well as the Vinyard and upgrading the Church.

When you gain control, first follow the arrows and dig up Gerry.

Take the body inside and put it on the Autopsy Table and remove the Flesh, now take the body to the Graveyard, by the Church.

Talk to Gerry and he will give you a shovel. Go to the blue sign, and build a grave. I dig one grave, bury the body, then I clean up the Graveyard and place all the graves from the blue sign.

We want to bury the body before it decays too much.

Setting up the Graveyard

Talk to the Priest before you clean up the Graveyard and set up the graves. Make it a habit to go through all of the dialogue options for everyone. I also will talk to people a 2nd time, because there is more dialogue sometimes.

Follow the arrow and get the tools out of the box, but leave the repair kits, you will use them in the Graveyard – which you can use now if you want, just go to the grave and repair it.

Now this is when I clean up the right side of the Graveyard and place down the graves. You can dig up some in the left side, but it doesn’t affect the score yet for the Graveyard. Also watch your Shovel durability. It’s probably better to wait though.

When setting up your Graveyard graves, make sure not to do any upside down crosses (see screenshot below).

I think below is the best way to set up the Graveyard. For now we have to leave the grave in the bottom right (that is not positioned correctly) where it’s at. It does annoy me, but we need an Exhumation Permission (which costs money) before we can dig it up. We will also get one free soon.

Do NOT dig every grave, you will get -2 for each empty grave, only dig them when you need to.

As stated above, I use the mod to adjust the speed of days, game default is 1, the mod default is 1.5, I have tested slow and game default (which is a little quick for me) but if you slow down the days too much, you don’t get that many bodies. The more bodies you have the higher your Graveyard score, which ends up with more faith and money from sermons. Though you will earn most of your income from farming.

The Bar & Village

Before going to the Village, go by the Farm by our House (where we started) and interact with the sign, then read it. This will allow us to claim the Farm early by talking to the Bartender. We still need to talk to the Merchant, which we can do in two days. I go more into detail about this later, but I just tested it and we can do this now. We need to interact with the sign again to claim it.

Don’t spend any money yet, we want to buy the Teleport Stone. Then all of our money will go to seeds (from the Lady at the Wheat Fields).

Go to the bar by following the arrow. You can talk to them in any order, but I talk to the Wife, then her husband (the Bartender). Remember to unlock all dialogue for everyone.

When you go to sell your Burial Certificate to him, he asks you to deliver a letter, go ahead and do this. If you see Ms. Charm, you can talk to her also, then the writer will talk to you. You may not see Ms. Charm yet, but try to talk to her on the 2nd day if you can.

Go deliver the letter to the Blacksmith (follow the road south and right on the stone road). Do his task (repair the sword) and kill the Slimes, talk to the Blacksmith again then go back to the Bartender. Keep the items from the Blacksmith and Bartender.

There are 4-5 barrels around town you can destroy with your sword which is recommended, as well as more in the bar.

Save the Beer and all the metal parts, but mine some stone and sell enough to Cory (follow the path left of the bar to the north, past Rosa then left and up again) until you have 2 silver. There is enough Stone just above Cory.

Go back to the bar and buy a Teleport Stone from the Bartender. This is infinite use.

Go Back Home

Go back home, Gerry will talk to you, go to the autopsy room and talk to him again. Make sure to give him the beer you got from the Bartender.

Sleep in your bed, and when you wake up you will talk to a Ghost. You can do his task now or save the Exhumation Permission for later (do this for now). You can put it in the chest at the Graveyard for later if you want. Wait until we unlock a couple things to use it.

Day 2 – Ms. Charm

Go into your basement, you will get a glimpse of Snake, but we can’t talk to him yet. Clean up all the broken barrels and bags of flour. You can use this Trunk to store some stuff if you need.

Also, listen for the Donkey bell, which means he has delivered a body. Get to bodies quickly so they don’t decay.

Ms. Charm & More Neighbors

If you didn’t do this before, make sure to do it now. Before going back to the Village, go to the broken farm sign by your house and read it, then talk to the Bartender. We can now claim the farm when we go back.

It should be the 2nd day, so now Ms. Charm is in the bar, go talk to her then the Writer.

This is when I go around the Village and find and talk to everyone I can, you can refer to this map below, but it is missing a couple people. You can talk to the grumpy pirate in the bar, but he doesn’t say much for now.

Map[graveyardkeeper.gamepedia.com]

Also, the thing about days in this game, is a different person is available every day to talk to. The Astrologer is tricky because he (and Snake) only show up at midnight, Snake is before midnight, he shows up when it is getting dark. The rest of the people are there all day, Snake is different also as he shows up periodically throughout the week.

Also remember to refer to the days section above for help remembering who is available for each day. Just keep the Wiki page open in your tabs until you learn their schedule.

Today is Ms. Charm, tomorrow will be the Merchant, so claiming the farm is what we need to do to be ready for him for the first week. We need 5 Faith to advance Ms. Charm, but we can’t do that yet.

After talking to Ms. Charm, the Writer talks to us so go through his conversation line.

Day 3 – Merchant & Farm

After everything from Day 2, you will want to save, so sleep (you don’t have to sleep long unless you need to restore health and/or energy).

If you are following the guide, we are ready to claim the farm. But first go talk to the Merchant, he is just S of the Bar.

Make the deal for the farm, then talk to him about seeds and he will offer you a loan, take it. I always do, it’s worth it especially at the beginning.

Don’t buy anything from him right now, but instead go buy 30 Peat from Shepard (path to the right of the bar and north, standing by a fence). Then go to the Farm (Wheat Fields, S) and buy seeds from her (Wheat, Beats, Carrot and Cabbage).

With seeds it takes four per crop, so buy as many as you can in increments of four.

Now that we have seeds, lets begin the process of generating some income.

Go claim the farm, then build crops on all of the spaces EXCEPT the vertical strip on the left, where we will build 5 Compost Heaps, which we have to unlock.

Unlock
  • Farming & Nature – Decay
  • Farming & Nature – Improvement

Build a Trunk first, as we will need it. Store all farming stuff in it. We will build more Trunks later, but we only need one now.

Set up the Farm like this below (the Compost Heaps can be positioned differently than what is pictured, but fit 5 there):

When planting, ALWAYS use a fertilizer of some kind, for now we will use Peat. So place the Peat, then the seeds. You can put the seeds however you want, but it is nice to have them grouped together.

I go ahead and dig every spot for the farm, get it over with, you will be using it a lot. Repair your shovel when you need to. Go ahead and repair it twice, you will probably need it.

A dug farm is a happy farm, or something.

Now do the Peat. I put the three at the bottom for Beats, since we have less seeds.

Now plant the seeds:

Now we have started generating income. But it’s not much yet. Get used to farming, we want to get to where we are harvesting a full crop every time, eventually.

Also, with Peat, we don’t get enough seeds from the harvest to be able to plant the same amount of crops, so we can now sell the crop for more seeds. This works for short term and we will be able to increase the yield each time.

Increasing the yield each time will equal more money earned each time, so keep doing it over the next week, so we will have money for Grape Seeds from the Merchant.

Remember, always use Peat or Fertilizer when planting crops.

But we want fertilizer, so we need to unlock the church. So lets get the graveyard up to +5. We have about 4 days to get this done.

Day 4 – Snake

The next day after the Merchant is Snake, so we need to do some things so we can reach him.

Clean Up Work Area

Go back Home and clean up the work area outside. Chop down Trees, mine Stone, pull up plants, etc. which earn you red and green points. When chopping Trees, make sure to dig up the stumps or they won’t grow back.

Unlock
  • Building – Sawing

Now build a Sawhorse.

You need to fill up the Timber Stockpile in order to be able to use it.

Unlock
  • Building – Firewood
  • Building – Woodworking
  • Smithing – Primitive Forging

With these, we are able to make fuel for the Furnace (Firewood) and unblock the passages below our house. Make sure to do this early so we can meet up with Snake who shows up when it is getting dark.

Make sure to build the work stations, see my screenshot below for a guide for the layout.

Also build:

  • Wooden Anvil
  • Chopping Spot
  • Carpenter’s Workbench

Below is how I like to set up my work area:

With these built, we can start clearing passages, also we can repair the Morgue chute (we have to repair inside and outside).

*NOTE: When we unlock the Circular Saw we will replace the Stone Stockpile with a Timber Stockpile. I have never used the Stone Stockpile and the extra wood storage will come in handy.

We need to clear the passage in the House basement in order to be able to meet with Snake. We have built everything we need to do this.

So clear out one or both passages and he will show up towards the evening.

We can’t do much now with Snake, but opening those passages provides us a shortcut back to town. Go ahead and use it in order to unlock the hidden passage at the bushes.

We have to unlock the church before we can make the key that we get from the Astrologer.

Snake also shows up periodically throughout the week, I don’t know if the days are random or not.

Just North of your house you will find iron to mine, get it all.

Build 2 Furnaces, chop 200 Firewood (100 per Furnace), then make all the Iron Bars (split evenly between the Furnaces). Do this as soon as possible as we will need a lot of Iron.

We might as well get these also:

Unlock
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Softspares
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Hardspares

We need both. Softspares allows us to take Blood and Fat from bodies (which we should do with every body, each one removes one red skull), and Hardspares allows us to get the Skull for the Astrologer.

If it is already the next day, go talk to the Inquisitor before you do this below.

Now we are ready to use the Exhumation Permission we got from the ghost. Go to the graveyard and dig up the grave that is out of order (bottom right corner). Do the autopsy and remove everything.

Now throw the body in the river, we now have unlocked the Cremation line. We still need to spend points for it though to be able to burn a body.

Now go back to the graveyard sign and remove the grave you just dug up. Now place a new grave where it should go. Now the graveyard is in order and the ghost is satisfied. He will appear again soon when you sleep.

Day 5 – Inquisitor

Don’t forget to check your Farm, it may be ready to harvest by now. We really do need to keep on top of this for now. Eventually we won’t have to do it as much.

But talk to the Inquisitor first.

*It should be noted, to make Peat, put Crop Waste in the Compost Heap which will produce Peat and Maggots. Start making Peat as we are going to need a lot to begin with.

Gerry will inform you that the Inquisitor is near if you are around your House.

Meet up with him and enjoy the bonfire, you can choose to be his friend or not. It is through him that we gain full access to the Vineyard (we have partial access after our first meeting), so if we refuse him then I don’t know if we can unlock this. This is a way to generate some decent extra money.

We can’t do much with him on the first week, but we need to get this initial interaction over with. I’m pretty sure by week 2 we can fully unlock the Vineyard by bringing him Firewood.

Make sure to go to the Lighthouse the night of the Inquisitor so you can talk to the Astrologer. You can use the Warp Stone to get there after you visit it once.

Remember to get the Skull for the Astrologer if you haven’t yet. For bodies that have a lot of red skulls, you can take everything and then either throw it in the river or burn it. When we burn it we get a burial slip to turn into the bartender. Burning is also how we get Ash and Salt. So burn them, it is better (we still need to unlock this).

If you have extra time, you can repair the bridge which gives us access to more Iron and the Witch, which is a Swamp Maze.

Take the materials below with you so you can build a 2nd bridge to create a shortcut to the Witch that lives there in the center. Talk to her to unlock Alchemy.

  • 6 x Flitch
  • 3 x Wooden Plank
  • 10 x Nails

If you don’t have enough time right now, do this soon.

Day 6 – Astrologer

I think the main thing for now is to make sure you have talked to the Writer in the bar and unlock the Astrologer conversation line.

Make sure to talk to the Astrologer this week (bring a skull with you). He can be found at the Lighthouse the night before the moon (about around when the day changes to Sloth, Moon Day).

When you give the Astrologer the Skull, he will give you a Key, this is what we will use to make the real Key once the Church is unlocked. This is what we need to advance with Snake, but I THINK we have to have the Church unlocked first.

You can get a fishing pole from the guy that is always at the Lighthouse. You can dig up some stumps around the Lighthouse if you want, which will make Apple Trees grow that you can pick.

Not all Apple Trees can be picked though. Digging up the stumps around the Lighthouse will allow some more Apple Trees to grow which we can pick.

Week 1-2 – To Do

I am putting this here, we need to be working on all of this, but make sure to keep on top of the days. It is very important to talk to the Bishop tomorrow. But after we meet up with the Astrologer, we have a lot of time to work on things.

The first thing should be the Graveyard to +5.

Make sure you have done everything in the guide so far before starting on these below. You can, of course, do things like upgrading Tools, but for the most part if you are behind, catch up before proceeding.

Don’t forget about the Farm either, we need the money for the Merchant next week.

Storage

For now, we have four places where we can store stuff, but here is where I store items:

  • Food – Inside the House
  • Building Materials – Work Area Outside House
  • Graveyard Stuff & Flowers – Graveyard
  • Farming Stuff – Farm, Also Vineyard
  • Beer & Wine (Later) – House Basement
  • Church Sermons & Faith (Later) – First Box in Church Basement
  • Alchemy Stuff (Later) – Church Basement Extra Storage

Basically, the storage (Trunks) are linked to specific areas and the tools in those areas will pull supplies directly from the Trunks. Try to store items where they are used.

Unlock
  • Theology – Simple Gravestones
Unlock
  • Smithing – Advanced Forging

Make the Anvil when we unlock this, now we can make Complex Iron Parts.

Unlock
  • Smithing – Tools

When we have enough Iron Bars, get this and make them, I think we need the Anvil before we can make these though. Don’t make the Rusty Hammer as it’s not an upgrade, we already have one.

To Do:
  • Make Gravestones & Fences – Get Graveyard to +5

Don’t forget about getting the Graveyard to +5. Build the better wood for now, we really want to make Stone, as it generates blue points, but we aren’t ready for that yet.

It might be possible to make Stone (if you are ahead of this guide), so go ahead if you have unlocked the Technology and the Station. We are going to be upgrading the Graveyard a lot over the game, I like generating the blue points, so that is what I am going to do eventually.

  • Clear Passages & Repair Bridge(s)
  • Repair Morgue Chute (Inside & Outside)
  • Farm Coal at the Quarry

When we clear the passage N, go all the way NW to the Quarry. Follow the N ledge to the E to find Coal which we will now use for fuel for our Furnace and other things. Once we visit once, we can now warp back.

MY NOTE: Add Gif???

When we are ready to mine Coal, unlock below:

Unlock
  • Building – Mining
  • Expand Work Area at House

We can also expand the work area outside our House, when you do, build another Furnace (or two). When you get Coal, put 100 in each.

  • Build New Tools (When you have enough Iron Bars)
  • Farm 5 Bat Wings

Upgrade your tools when you have enough Iron Bars, then sell the old ones back to the Blacksmith. They don’t have to be repaired, he will give the same amount regardless.

In the evening, just before dark, you will find bats in the area where the iron is. There is also a path that goes W then N that spawns bats also. Try to collect 5 Bat Wings, we will need them soon.

Day 7 – Bishop (2) Unlock Church

The main thing about today is to make sure to have the Graveyard to +5. Talk to the Bishop to unlock the church and hold your first sermon.

Make 5 Wooden Grave Fence and 5 Wooden Cross and place them all on graves. I had four graves with nothing, then I replaced a cross on one and gave it the fence and I am at +1.

I made 8 Wood Repair Kits and was able to get the Graveyard to +7 after repairing everything. Now talk to the Priest and unlock the Church. You are now a Prior and get to give your first sermon. May the farce be with you.

If you still need a higher Graveyard score, you can build some flowerbeds, which requires Peat.

I read somewhere, maybe the Wiki (probably) that our Graveyard score determines how much money we make from sermons, and the inside Church score determines how much faith we get.

So now we have access to the Church. First, lets go into the basement using the door to the right. Break apart all the old bookcases to clean it up, I store Faith and Sermons in this box.

We now have access to the Study Table. We have to study items at this table before we are able to use it for alchemy. But we will worry about all of this later. Right now we need to make some Science.

Unlock
  • Book Writing – Paper Crafting
  • Smithing – Advanced Forging (if you haven’t already)

Build a Church Workbench in order to make paper. This is where the 5 Bat Wings will come in handy. You can also use Human Skin, but we will need 4 of these later for Armor, using Bat Wings is better.

Make Pigskin Paper, then Clean Paper, then use the Clean Paper in the Study Table which will give you Science. We will need some Science and Faith to make the Key to unlock the Dungeon.

We also need 5 Faith to proceed with Snake. In my modded game, I can hold multiple Church services a week, I think in the vanilla game we can only do one. If this is the case, we may need to wait a week before we can unlock the Dungeon.

Unlock the Dungeon Early:

*I am assuming there is another way to get the key, but I don’t know it. So we will need 5 Faith to advance with Snake and unlock the dungeon.

We can now essentially unlock the dungeon when we meet Snake in the underground tunnels. We can only clear the two paths in the House basement for now.

We couldn’t advance with Snake because we couldn’t access the Study Table in the Church Basement. I am thinking that now we have both the Key and access to the Study Table, we should now be able to progress with Snake, so keep checking the tunnel for him.

Give him the Key, then he will give us the Blueprints. Then you have to go all the way around to the Church basement (because we can’t clear the pathway yet).

Make the Key in the Study Table now that we have the Blueprints, then go all the way back around and talk to Snake again (hopefully he is still there). If he is gone, he comes back periodically when it’s not his day.

If you are able to do all of this, the dungeon should be unlocked.

It should be noted that we can get the Diary, just walk on the sides of the doorway.

Day 8 – Ms. Charm (2)

NOTE: I tested my guide with the default timescale and was way behind. We can unlock the dungeon before getting our revenue set up, so focus on that. By week 2 I missed Ms. Charm & The Merchant with the default timescale and I was rushing through to try to keep on top of everything.

After everything we have done, I don’t know what we can do with her. I know she will need 5 Faith to continue though.

Using the mod, I am able to give multiple sermons per week – vanilla game I THINK it’s only one day a week.

In my game, I can literally give sermon after sermon after sermon, but this is too cheesy for me. Plus the way I’m doing things, we will earn a lot more soonish.

But it may be worth it for faith, if we need it.

Day 9 – Merchant (2)

He needs Hickup Grass (the bigger white flowers in the swamp near the Witch) and the 12 Beats, Carrots and Cabbage. Chances are, your Farm might be ready to pick.

This time when farming, sell the full crop (saving the 12 of each for him) and save the money for the Merchant. Use the seeds from the crop to replant the next crop.

Fertilizer???

If you didn’t take his loan, you will continue with his mission, but it doesn’t matter either way because we have a ways to go to be ready to do this. This is the way to make good money. If you have followed this guide, you are getting closer, but we still have some things we need to do.

*The Merchant sells Grape Seeds, which is another way to generate some decent money, by making wine (or pies), I will be making wine as soon as I can afford the seeds, but we can’t afford it this week.

Day 10 – Snake (2)

If you haven’t unlocked the Dungeon yet, today is the day.

Day 11 – Inquisitor (2)

Bring 20? Firewood with you and you will fully unlock the Vineyard. Now to get some Grapes and Hemp (from the crazy guy).

Day 12 – Astrologer (2)

Bring the Diary with you and turn it in.

Taking a Break

I got Cyberpunk 2077, so I am taking a break from this guide for now but I went ahead and made this guide public. There is a lot of good information here and you are close to getting set up.

Keep working on the Inquisitor to fully unlock the Vineyard. You need to make Flyers.

Keep working on the Merchant to start making good money. You need to pay him back, keep growing crops, grow Grapes and make Wine. Grow Wheat and Hops to make Beer. Sell Beer and Wine to the Bartender (gold Wine sell to the Merchant). Sell excess crops to the lady at the Farm.

You need to make Fertilizer, then work to Fertilizer II (you want the quality one), then you will start getting more seeds and harvest and won’t have to buy seeds after a while.

You will want to start growing Pumpkins and Onions (eventually work up to gold tier), and also grapes (which you buy the seeds from Merchant).

When you get into business with the Merchant, you will want to work towards selling all gold crops, but anything is worth it.

Notes from an old playthrough are below, which may have some useful information, I don’t know.

I will keep working on this guide, but I’ve been waiting for Cyberpunk.

OLD – Starting Out 4

On your 2nd crop, save some for the Merchant this week. I used the money from selling the old tools and Burial Certificates to buy more seeds.

Make sure to replace the Wooden Anvil with the Anvil in the work area by your house.

OLD – Starting Out 5

Lets work on building some useful things. We need to build some things in the Church basement. Take some materials with you. Make sure to bring at least 4 Complex Iron Parts.

Build a Hand Mixer and Church Workbench. We need the Church Workbench to make paper, which is how we will get science.

If you have been killing bats, good job, you can make paper. You need to make ??? first, then make paper from that. Then go to the Study Table and use the paper on that. I made 8 paper then made science out of all of it.

You can also use human skin, but I try to save this as we need 4 for armor.

At some point when you sleep, you will get another visit from the ghost. At the beginning you will get more visits after you sleep, one for each DLC I think, once related to vampires, and once for the camp from Game of Chrone. I think this is it, but there might be another one also.

I am now clearing some paths around here, we can’t finish underground yet, but we will soon.

We can also repair the Corpse Hatch, we need to repair both the inside and outside, then corpses will go to the autopsy room instead of the street.

After we finally have some science, learn Blood and Fat in the Study Table. We finally have some blue points. But more importantly we can start earning some blue points.

You can also learn all body parts for science and all the gravestones and fences (except marble) for blue points. Marble is red? I think.

Unlock:

  • Theology – Stone Gravestones
  • Theology – Cremation
  • Theology – Comfort of Faith
  • Building – Woodcutter
  • Building – Circular Saw

Grind out enough points for the Circular Saw from making some Stone Gravestones and Fences for blue and by doing physical activities such as crafting, chopping trees, mining stone, etc.

You can build some Church Benches in the church, but this is all I have unlocked so far. But more benches = more people = more faith and money.

Now we are really ready to move forward. we can finally unlock the underground passages and as stated earlier, earn some more blue points.

Don’t forget about the bodies and daily visits with people. I almost missed the Inquisitor, take 20 Firewood with you and you can unlock the left side of the graveyard already. You don’t need it yet, but I like to go ahead and do this.

After you get the permission, go ahead and interact with the sign in the Graveyard to unlock it.

So I spent a full in-game day cleaning out the left side of the Graveyard, as there are tons of logs we have to clean out.

*NOTE – As I write this guide, the days pass while the game is paused (I think), so who the days in this guide may be a little off as I miss interacting with people. I also tend to get sidetracked doing stuff and miss days like this also.

This guide is straight forward though, and we are on a good pace for starting out.

Game of Chrone DLC:

So I just got the guy from the Refugee Camp visit me after I slept, so we can start working on the Game of Chrone DLC if you have it. The first thing to do is put food in their box, which will raise their satisfaction, which will allow us to improve their camp.

We can’t make the Water Well right away, but we can store the materials in the box here if we have it on us. It will require 12 Stone and 2 Simple Iron Parts. We can also store some Wooden Sticks here which we will need later.

For now, do this and put food in the box, soon we can come back and build some stuff later. I haven’t finished this DLC, but it is worthwhile to go ahead and start on this as soon as possible.

OLD – Starting Out 6

After unlocking the Church and giving our first sermon, I had forgotten to talk to the Priest afterwards, when you do he will unlock us being able to gather Sand and Clay, along with his next task.

We need Sand to make Glass, and Clay is needed for a few things.

I assume you have created the Circular Saw by now and have cleared out all the pathways, you might have met Snake also by now.

I researched some of the grave stuff to get more blue points, but again, you can research body parts also.

Now would be a good time for you to find the mining Quarry area in the very NW corner of the map. You can teleport here if you want. This is an area where will will later be able to get endless amounts of Iron, Stone, Marble and Coal. Right now we want Coal for the Furnaces.

Unlock:

  • Building – Mining

I would say 200 Coal will be enough for now, 100 per Furnace.

So where is the Coal you ask? Follow the cliff at the top to the right and you will find it.

Insert GIF for Illustration?????

In the autopsy area, go ahead and build a few Pallets, which will allow us to have more bodies.

Did you forget about the farm? Yeah, me too. It gets to where there is so much to do that it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Which is why a guide is helpful to keep us on track. We want big money, so that is what I’m working for.

**MY NOTE – I may need to buy Grape Seeds earlier, to start generating better early income. Stupid Donkey hasn’t brought me a corpse in a while now.

**MY NOTE: I am getting sidetracked. I should have kept focusing on the Inquisitor and Snake. Redo guide.

  • Farming & Nature – Simple Fertilizer
  • Farming & Nature – Gardening
  • Farming & Nature – Master Gatherer
  • Farming & Nature – Inborn Blacksmith
  • Building – Clay

You don’t need Master Gatherer yet (I don’t think) but it’s cheap and I hate not being able to gather certain things.

I shoulda coulda unlocked these sooner, I may rearrange my guide later. Yet they require small amounts of blue, and aren’t completely necessary.

Also Unlock:

  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Gentle Butcher
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Alchemy Storage
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Important Parts
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Advanced Alchemy
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Embalming Liquids
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Advanced Alchemy
  • Smithing – Glass

In the Church basement, build:

  • Hand Mixer
  • Alchemy Rack
    Alchemy Mill?
    Distillation Cube

This is a lot of stuff, and will require a lot of points and materials. Just grind them out, explore if you want and honestly, don’t worry horribly about days. Take a week and just explore, unlock farm, harvest and do whatever if you want. A lot of quests can’t continue until we do the things in this guide, so I am still on track.

The thing we need is Grape Seeds, so we need money.

We can also make money with Beer, so we need Hops.

***MY NOTE – I could have done this a lot sooner – When we talk to Snake, give him the Key or 5 Faith, then make the Active Key and talk to Snake again. Congratulations you have now unlocked the dungeon. You don’t have to buy the Royal Stamp or Town Pass since we have to do Snake’s quests anyways, so might as well get them free. You can get the Diary, just walk on the sides of the doorway.

OLD OLD – Beginning

MY NOTES:

Game of Crone raises the max for graves to +16 from +12.

This guide will focus on generating money to start. It is a key thing to do as soon as possible, and once you are set up, it is worth it.

To start, work on unlocking the full Vineyard, Church and left side of Graveyard. Start Buying Seeds!!! Also work on unlocking the Fertilizers.

Do this in different sections.

OLD:

I may add more sections before this as I build this guide, but will go ahead and start.

Here[guides.gamepressure.com] is a handy map for getting acquainted with the game.

I may refer to other guides here on Steam as I write this, which are listed below:

The Ultimate Guide

Advanced Starting Tips (Updated:Breaking Dead!)

Both of these guides are good and will help you when starting out. I will be following the Advanced Starting Tips guide to unlock the dungeon as quickly as possible.

I will summarize things just to keep it simple:

This will not be a step-by-step guide (for now), so follow the guide if you want a more detailed guide.

Basically follow the on screen arrows and talk to everyone, reading all the dialogue so you can unlock quests and conversation topics and unlock tasks (quests).

The only way to save in this game is to sleep in the bed. There may be a quick save and load method somewhere, but I haven’t found one.

You need to sleep, and the first time you do, you will meet a ghost so go ahead and do it early.

Getting a Teleport Stone makes things much easier, they are infinite use.

The Merchant will offer a loan, for early game it helps a lot, so take it if you want (I did).

Unlock:

  • Building – Sawing

Place the Sawhorse down outside of your home and clean up the area if you want.

Claim the farmland by your house, get the loan from the Merchant and buy some Peat and Seeds.

You will definitely want carrots, as the Donkey will require them later. But you also want Cabbage, Wheat, and Beat so you can finish the Merchant task.

Unlock:

  • Farming & Nature – Decay

Prepare the farm and plant the seeds – make sure to plant Peat first, then the seeds – but the vertical strip on the left, put five Compost Heaps.

You can make some money cooking if you want, I bake Grape Pies personally (seeds from Merchant – too expensive for now), but you can also bake Muffins – buy the recipe for 2 Silver from the Inkeep’s Wife. (Grape Pie Recipe?)

When cutting trees, make sure to dig up stumps, which make them grow back quicker.

When planting, we need four seeds for one crop.

I got 12 Cabbage, 16 Carrot, 16 Wheat and 8 Beat Seeds from the farmer.

I also bought 30 Peat from Shepherd north of the bar.

You can sell some of your harvest back to the farmer for seed money. You will get seeds from the harvest, but less than a full crop’s worth.

Make sure to listen for the Donkey bell and get to the bodies quickly or they will decay.

At the beginning, we aren’t going to be able to do good autopsies on the bodies, so you can hack away at all of them and get some of the body parts if you want, but you will need a place to store them (not unlocked yet) and some of them don’t stack.

You are going to end up digging all of these up anyways, which you can then take the parts out if you want to save the need for storage space. This way will also give you a better graveyard for the short term for when you unlock church – which will end up getting you more faith and money.

But always take the blood and fat from all bodies which improve the corpse, you can also take the flesh, but it will lost a square (I think).

You will want a lot end game, but you will need at least one of each body part for research later.

You can choose to throw bodies in the river, which will poison the town, but may cause a game over? I can’t remember.

But it’s better to Cremate the corpses (not unlocked yet) which will give you a permit you can turn into the bar keeper, throwing in the river doesn’t.

Unlock:

  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Softspares
  • Building – Woodworking
  • Smithing – Primitive Forging

Build the Carpenter’s Bench, then the Wooden Anvil, then build just one Furnaces for now when you get enough materials. We will want multiple later, but there isn’t enough room in the starting area for all the stations we need for two Furnaces.

For the Furnace, just set it to make iron, which will take time so set it as soon as you can.

Also build a Chopping Spot and make some firewood. We can’t do this and have two Furnaces, so instead we need to open the path to the north, and all the way to the very northwest corner of the map, there are four mines, go find the Coal mine so you can have good fuel for the Furnaces.

Explore the areas around your house, there is some iron just to the north.

Unlock:

  • Building – Firewood
  • Theology – Simple Gravestones
  • Farming & Nature – Improvement
  • Building – Stoneworking
  • Building – Mining
  • Farming & Nature – Master Gatherer
  • Smithing – Tools

I already had enough points for a lot of these perks, so it doesn’t take much. I go around and cut down, mine and pull stumps from everywhere I can, which earns a lot of red and green points. Blue will come later after we unlock some stuff.

It is highly recommended to start unlocking the passages, don’t forget the bridge. I unlock all of them including the underground passages. It just makes things much easier and quicker.

Try to fix up the graveyard some to get to +5 to talk to the Priest if you can, may be too difficult for the first week though.

I am going to disagree with the other guide here and say when it comes to making tombstones and fences, if we make the stone instead of wood (Stoneworking II), we will earn a lot of blue points. Then we upgrade all of those (Carved Gravestones) for more blue points later. It’s more work, but if we start making the stone early instead of wood, we will get a better graveyard score early also.

To Learn (Eventually):

  • Building – Stoneworking II
  • Theology – Carved Gravestones

Work on upgrading your tools also.

After unlocking the church, get:

  • Theology – Comfort of Faith
  • Smithing – Advanced Forging
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Hardspares
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Important Parts

You will be able to get a lot of blue points later, but for now the best way I found is to make Stone stuff (like Stone Gravestones and Fences).

Actually, now that I added Hardspares and Important Parts, you can extract all parts from the next body and then go research them in the church basement for a ton of blue points.

Also now with everything that I have unlocked so far, we can unlock the dungeon. To continue the Astrologer’s task (bring him a skull) and he will give you a key. Research the key in the Study Table and you will get the real key, now talk to Snake and the dungeon will now be open. Before I did this, I also talked to Ms. Charm and gave her 5 faith and got the coins to throw at Snake. I don’t know if that is required though, I don’t think it is.

You will need Faith (from sermons) and Science (from researching paper) in the Study Table.

There is a witch to the west across the bridge, it is a maze to get to her, but once you figure it out you can make a bridge to make it easier, so make sure to take:

  • 6 Flitch
  • 3 Wooden Plank
  • 10 Nails

After talking to the Witch, she will unlock the Alchemy Workbench, Hand Mixer and the Alchemy Mill.

To fix the Donkey Cart, you will need Seed Oil.

OLD OLD – Beginning 2

If you need Science, you can learn Paper Crafting, build the Church Workbench to make paper.

  • Bookwriting – Paper Crafting

After getting enough blue points, unlock:

  • Theology – Comfort of Faith
  • Theology – Power of Faith
  • Inborn Blacksmith

Also Get:

  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Alchemy Storage
  • Smithing – Glass
  • Smithing – Glass-Blower
  • Smithing – Glass-Blower II – Can Wait for This
  • Smithing – Advanced Smelting
  • Technologies – Cremation
  • Technologies – Stone Gravestones

Build all Church Benches and Confessionals in the Church. Also now you can build the Stone Gravestones and Fences.

Unlock:

  • Book Writing – Writing
  • Book Writing – Writing Supplies
  • Building – Woodcutter
  • Building – Precious Metals

I missed these, which both require a ton of red, but we need them:

  • Building – Assembly Stand
  • Building – Circular Saw – Get this first
  • Building – Stone Carving
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Gentle Butcher
  • Technology – Master Gatherer
  • Technology – Transplanting
  • Technology – Beekeeping
  • Technology – Grape Farming
  • Technology – Insects
  • Book Writing – Inventing Stories

After building the Circular Saw you can make the Wooden Beams needed to clear the underground passages.

Get:

  • Technologies – Related Ore
  • Technologies – Tricks of the Trade
  • Farming & Nature – Bee Domestication

*NOTE – This guide is out of order for the best way to do things, I think.

For the Priest task, build:

  • Building – Clay

Which unlocks after talking to him about the food kitchen.

Get:

  • Building – Assembly Stand
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Anatomy II
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Surgery
  • Anatomy & Alchemy – Alchemy II
  • Farming & Nature – Simple Fertilizers
  • Farming & Nature – Winemaking

For the Inquisitor, we need:

  • Theology – Business of Faith
    Light of Faith
    Weapons
    Steel
    Steel Tools
    Steel Weapons
