Introduction
Workaround: As of Beta Build “Steam Client Beta – Dec 8th” I was testing to see if the Steam controller FPS bug was fixed and found a workaround.
I made this guide to help others who may be suffering from the same issue.
Step One
Start Steam in Big Picture, select Magic Duels from your game library and select:
-> “manage game” -> “controller configuration”
On the Controller Configuration menu, select “Browse Configurations”
Go to Templates and select the template “Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse”
Confirm the changes then exit Steam Big Picture.
Step Two
After exiting, re-launch Steam Big Picture mode and start Magic duels.
Wait until you’re in the main menu.
You should be able to use the Steam Controller’s right touch pad to simulate the mouse.
Open the in-game Steam Overlay by pressing the Steam button on the middle of the Steam Controller, go again to the controller configuration and select the template “Gamepad with Camera Controls”
Confirm and exit the in-game Steam overlay and the controller should be working properly without FPS drop.
Final Note
Don’t forget to set the template to “Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse” again before exiting Big Picture after playing, if you do that you can skip “Step one” for every time you want to play.
It’s annoying but at least I am able to to play using my Steam controller.
